Got the T40 and it's amazing to finally not be the lowest tank in matchmaking! When I get the good matchmaking games I can 1 hit pretty much everything and my frontal armor dings about 50% of income fire.... but when the matchmaking is bad I get one shotted by tigers and can barely kill light tanks in 3-4 shots :(

it will be like that until you hit T8
T7 if you go T29.
Once you get to the slugger you have like 250 penetration right? Isn't that enough to get through most everything?
250 on a Slugger? Hell no. Probably closer to 150 than 250.
160 pen, and 240 damage on it's 90mm.
slugger is the best t6 TD, but all t6 TDs are raped by matchmaking
I'm on Cliff.
Squad up with 4 other tanks.
Enemy scouts run in, we're spotted for artillery but I'm behind the mountain so it's good.
Other members of squad are in the open engaging heavies coming down our path.
I barely poke my head out to take a pot-shot at them.
Get artillery'd, tracked, tracked again by the enemy tanks, and then pummeled to death by the rest of their artillery.
Why do artillery pick on ME?! :C
holy
shit
after i got that premium a couple of hours ago, i've had maybe 15 battles
only two or three of them had arty

Is it just me or is the T29 marginally faster than the IS / equal to IS in footing

IS is really mobile, but the top speed is only 33
*finally gets a decent match-up with tanks I can conceivably handle*
*ping is 999*

At least you HAVE a T25. I actually am trying to peasant grind to an S-51, just because I love playing my KV so much.
If you're going to play this game and plan on spending alot of time playing it, a type 59 is a good investment. Maybe you're not like the rest of us, but I don't enjoy grinding a T5 to get 30k a match and grind all the way to 3,000,000 credits doing that. Just isn't fun, I'd rather have a tank where I can grind the cash in a quarter of the time.
I never had credit issues in this game. By the time i finished grinding the xp for the next tank i always have had enough money to buy it right away, incl 3 pieces of suitable equipment.

T29 blows other T7 heavies out of the water.
So let me get this straight. First they add a tank from the late 50's that is practically the same as one of the best medium tanks in the game. Then they make it so that is becomes the most rediculous money earning premium tank of them all, requiring zero skill to play it, plays at a LOWER class then all other premiums should and of course the entire matchmaking system, that already was designed on a friday afternoon, can't handle it and starts screwing up even more.
Then, after about 50 and a half trillion complaints from the entire planet, they decide that to resolve this problem, REMOVING THE ENTIRE TANK is going to fix it. Then of course, they decide to tell everyone and give them a period to, of course, buy the tank.
This isn't marketing anymore, this is scamming. They scammed their entire playerbase pretending that this is an F2P game. And they are going to continue doing this for the game, and all games that will follow it. (Planes and battleships are going to be P2W. Not in a chance in hell is that going to change)
So remind me again for the tenth time why in the name of Vishnu do I play this game

Because shooting metal Boxes until they explode is fun.

Because it uses the constant slow progression as a hook to get you addicted just like every single MMO has ever done.

ummm no, slugger's matchmaking is amazing
Any strategies for combating Tiger IIs in my T29?
The most effective strategy so far I've tried was to round their side and to hit their side-ammoracks but if they're smart and rotate their front towards you it's kinda hard to knock off anything more than half their health through their commander's cupola

Hit their lower front hull. 198mm of pen should be well enough to get through and possibly lit them on fire. Or if they're angled, hit the side hull behind the wheels.

Ah, dead center in the lower hull, gotcha. I always avoided aiming at lower hulls due to the fact that most of them tend to be fairly well-angled - any other tanks aside from the Lowe and the IS-3 that are worth hitting in the lower plate?

Almost all tanks in the game have weaker lower hulls, or the same amount of armor but at a flatter angle making it easier to penetrate (like Hetzer for example).
The awkward moment when you get a 203mm penetration gun and you bounce the shot off the middle of the KV's turret. That thing must have like, 300mm or something.
hahaha, i was shooting at an IS4 in my T43, i tracked him 6 times out of 6 hits

Everyone who complains about anything on the WoT forums gets 50+ downvotes. There are simply too many fanboys for WG to sort through to ever understand what is actually wrong with the game. Anyone who has played a Tripwire game (good games but god are they buggy) has seen the same bullshit.
What the WoT forums need is an influx of actual users, not the hardcore CW fags, so that WG can see what the average gamer sees (broken MM, shitty arty mechanics, type 59)
Tripware isn't bad, compared to WG I think they are pretty good
