lol no it's not a punishment. think of it as a cop who's been lax around a group of dudes and then one of the dudes gets arrested for once and the rest throw a fit, and the cop goes "boys this isn't how you do it, so far I've been more lenient than usual but if this is how it's gotta go then I'll have to be more strict from now on to prevent this from happening again"

although, I guess it [I]can[/I] be taken as a punishment but it's not meant to be one, more like a "get back on track"
