Bought the Epic Edition today, gonna try it out tomorrow. Really looking forward it.
but the thing is once you get yourself a main role like the lead character in a game/franchise then that's usually the only shot you get
Someone's never watched Cowboy Bebop. Or an X-Men cartoon with Wolverine in it.
(he was already used in mass effect 2 and was killed off in like five minutes of meeting him)
Yes, because Grunt was such a minor and insignificant red-shirt character that had nothing to do with the game at all right? :downs: And for the love of god and all of us grammar nazis, please capitalize the beginnings of your sentences. It's hard to read your posts. Back somewhat-on-topic. Has anyone seen or heard anything about PCF also making Painkiller Redemption? It apparently just came out without anyone really noticing. I can't even tell if it's a remake or a sequel. And I'm hesitant to buy it after the buggy abomination that was the last Painkiller game.

That's funny, the store page says it was made by Eggtooth Team.
well I just beat it. Shooting someone in the balls with the sniper is fucking impossible unless they're floating
well I just beat it. Shooting someone in the balls with the sniper is fucking impossible unless they're floating
You have to do it with a bluff, also I just beat it as well. It's a very fun game, but in all honesty I can't say it's a good game. For those people who are on the fence about buying it I'd highly suggest renting or waiting for a sale.
Can anyone who has the PS3 version get online working? My brother just can't find any games.

Also, wasn't there supposed to be a PC demo today?
Finished the campaign last night. This game exceeded my expectations as I was expecting it to fail like borderlands did. I enjoyed the combat a lot, the skill shots kept me mixing up my combat throughout the game.
I don't laugh at video game dialogue often, but Grayson's lines when [sp]using the Mechaton[/sp] were pure gold.
Agreed. I just got past that part. Fucking gold. All of it. I loved him calling it a child's toy.
A good game means it's very fun, so I'd say Bulletstorm is pretty good
Well it's really only good for one playthrough. I mean it's fun and all but it's pretty generic, really short, has almost no replay value, and the ending was really disappointing.
Shooting the charged drill into a miniboss's stomach then kicking it is so satisfying. Pretty much every skillkill is satisfying.
Torpedo is probably my favorite skill shot. Because the bone duster is by far my favorite weapon.
The charge shot for the shotgun is so hilariously overpowered, you can clear a room with one shot
Well it's really only good for one playthrough. I mean it's fun and all but it's pretty generic, really short, has almost no replay value, and the ending was really disappointing.
The ending is supposed to be a really big scale sequel hook. Imagine it as if this is part one and part two is coming at a later date. I mean, come on, it's sort of obvious. Predicting it now, though, [sp]Bulletstorm 2 will start off right at the end of that same scene before the credits and begin with Gray's response to Trishka.[/sp] [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
The charge shot for the shotgun is so hilariously overpowered, you can clear a room with one shot
the entire game is hilariously overpowered, that's sort of the point
Well obviously but that's such a lame way of making games. Especially when both parts cost $60 and each part is insanely short.
Well obviously but that's such a lame way of making games. Especially when both parts cost $60 and each part is insanely short.
Everyone says that about the game, that it was short, but I dunno, I got my money's worth. I got a good six or seven hours out of it. Yeah, 60 bucks is a steep price for a game like this, I'd suggest renting it for consoles instead of buying it on PC to my friends, but it's still worth it to play it the whole way through.
Funniest part for me was near the end where [sp]the DNA bomb gets armed and all hope is apparently lost, but then you find a way out and get all excited - only to be brought back to the same room where the bomb was[/sp]
I actually found that to be a really good part, and down to Earth as well. It seems that always in games everything is so linear and you find a way out on the first time when in reality you end up going in circles and getting lost alot while in a facility you don't know of. Made the game more realistic and gripping for me. [sp]Until of course Trishka came back and said she grabbed onto a powerline then I was just laughing[/sp]
should I wait for this to come on sale or buy it now?
Wait. It's completely fucking broken.
So i just beat Bulletstorm, it was fun but the AI was horrible, its like im the only one the bad guys want, they almost never go to anyone else. that and [sp] the chapter loading screens gave such huge spoilers in some of them it was really bad [/sp]
I played through the game on Hard the first time. It wasn't hard. I'll play on very hard next time [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] "HOLY DEuS EX MACHINA!" Best line ever
Wait. It's completely fucking broken.
Great post with actual proof to back it up on why he should wait.
I got to a bit where a helicopter is shooting you and ran out of ammo so I quit and played the multiplayer, which didn't seem very good. I wrote a review on my blog: http://www.garry.tv/?p=2316
I got to a bit where a helicopter is shooting you and ran out of ammo so I quit and played the multiplayer, which didn't seem very good. I wrote a review on my blog: http://www.garry.tv/?p=2316
Critique of your review because I actually liked the game:
Ok, so I just played a bit of Bulletstorm. It’s crap. It makes sense that it’s crap. The only marketing I’ve seen of it is how bloody, how gory, how unsafe for kids it is. It makes me wonder whether the article on the Fox News website about how this game will turn your kids into rapists was actually just marketing. If it was then they knew that such a biased article about a game before it was even released would cause all of the gaming websites to write long editorials about how games are art and should be treated like movies. Playing right into their hands.
Dead Space 2 was marketed the exact same way (See "Your mom hates this game") and it came out just as successful, but there was no article by Fox that said it was a horrible violent game, even though it's the same amount if not more violent. My point is that it can't be called a crappy game because of how it's marketed, because there are other games that are marketed the same way that don't get any flak at all.
I played it on the PC obviously, and it was made for the 360, obviously. Menus that make perfect sense to navigate with the mouse become hard work as you’re forced to navigate with the WSAD and space keys.
This is the one thing I agree with you on. It is by no means a PC game, and People Can Fly has acknowledged that the PC version is unoptimized and buggy, and they even went so far as to say that the game WASN'T MADE for 4:3 resolutions, and that you should probably play it at 16:9. The main and pause menus are the only ones navigable by the mouse, and you're right, it would have been better to have the whole game like that. I got used to it after a while, though.
The graphics are probably technically good. Maybe I over analyze it, but to me it looks like a quake level with a load of models thrown all over the place. The ‘map’ parts are noticeable by the stretched textures and the obvious low res triangley mesh. To make it look next gen everything you look at has bright blue rim lighting.
The foreground isn't what you're supposed to be looking at. I'm not saying that's an excuse for shoddy texturing, which there is at some points, but the game is basically geared toward the gameplay in every way. They expect you to pay attention to the fighting, and when the fighting calms down for a bit, they want you to look out at the beautiful environments in the BACKGROUND. Again, I'm not saying it's the most beautiful game in the world, but it's got at least the standard next gen graphics system down.
The whole USP of the game is that you kill people using awesome skillful moves to earn points. This is fun. The first 10 times. Later on they start adding spikey fences and stuff so you can kick people into them.
That's the whole point of the game. You can kill people however you want to. You don't have to abide by the skillshots, and you can combine them to get hundreds if not thousands of points per kill, especially as the game goes on. You have to be creative with it, if it isn't fun anymore then mix it up a little. Sure, it's a gimmick, but it's a gimmick that is completely bendable.
There’s no jump.
Why would there need to be a jump? There's nothing to jump on. The only time you would need a jump button is when you have to vault over shit, and there's a prompt that takes care of that. Even if YOU could jump, you have a companion or two following you through literally the entire game, and if you jumped on something, they wouldn't be able to navigate it because THEY can't jump, and therefore would not be able to do their job and would end up just standing around doing nothing while you do all the fighting.
So in summary: A worse version of Gears Of War that you shouldn’t buy on the PC.
To be honest, I've never played Gears so I can't comment on this part, but I do agree that if you buy the game, buy it on a console, it's definitely not a "PC game". I guess that's it. [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Also, the point of the leash is to USE IT ON THINGS. If you're fighting a chopper and you run out of ammo then leash it and you can pull the guy out of the copter for more points and an indirect kill. :geno:

Now I feel stupid, it kept saying there'd been a weapon drop or something so I was running around looking for it. Maybe I did have it on too easy, because all I did was run around kicking people. I had it on Normal though.
