Those look like they would be so flammable. I miss the old, faster fire.
Personally I'm hoping for giant snails.
This idea appeals to me more. Monkeys don't really fit with minecraft and I dont want anymore spiders, but giant snails seem to...be interesting enough to fit.
Half of my castle that used to be in a plains biome, is now covered in snow.
Why do people always assume it's JUST the humour people watch them for? I like to watch them because it's fun to watch two friends play Minecraft.
I will never understand why people are perfectly contempt with sitting in front of a screen watching OTHER PEOPLE play a game if their not going to do anything funny. It would be like watching MST3k if they took out all the jokes.
Any one got a 1.2 server up?
Jeb needs to put in monkeys.
Every so often you can find a bunch of monkeys near a rare-spawning 5x8 block of obsidian, and 3-4 ingame days later, the monkeys change into testificates and the obsidian disappears.

No. Monkey's just don't fit MC's theme. There are going to be two types of mobs in MC, the dumb ones and the smart ones (villagers). Monkies go in-between, and that wouldn't work.
But I am all for biome-based mobs. It would be sweet. Mummies in deserts, lizards in caves, all manner of wildlife in forests, alligators and giant leeches in swamps, and snails, giant ants, and all manner of huge insects and reptiles inhabiting the lower reaches of the jungles.
The reason they should be in the low areas of the jungles in so it forces you to find ways high above in the trees to move about safely. Even then, we could have flying mobs too. I want places like jungles to be high risk/high reward. Biome specific dungeons and special loot would be great.
Areas like deserts and open snow/tundra should be just inhospitable, but you need to move through them. It might confine a noob player to an area before he gets the equipment to venture across these biomes like Terraria.

I want bush-bug things in the jungle, similar to silverfish but only scurry away from you.
I just realized how disgusting that would be:Chopping up a bush to get wood when suddenly GAH A SLIMY WORM WHAT THE SHIT AGHHAGHG GET AWAY FROM ME
Maybe it would be better if they were hostile and spawned on the jungle floor at night?
We need more 'minecrafty' mobs. Such as those are created to only exist in the mc universe; like the creeper and ender.
each biome should have 1-2 mobs that only spawn in that biome, but those two mobs have unique drops you can only find off them, most probably potion ingredients. Pigs, cows, chickens and all that should spawn in every biome, since they're kinda default and in a way required to succeed in a new game of minecraft, but lets say a forest has snails, that only spawn and stay in the forest biome, killing it might drop, say, snail slime for potions and a piece of its shell, possibly for crafting snailshell armor. Deserts should have huge lizards. All that, as well as unique blocks in each biome to make the harder to build in biomes, like snowy biomes or forest biomes, worth visiting every once in a while.
Is anyone else getting a strange bug in 1.1.0 where smelting a stack of items results in you losing items? It seems that there only ever will be one smelted item in the output of the furnace, while the rest of the stuff smelts, but it doesn't increase the number in the output slot.
Nevermind, found the problem and a fix. It was a bug in Forge. :downs:

I don't think giant snails would fit well with the jungle biome. Mostly because of the landscape not being very flat and because there are trees everywhere.
Perhaps cave-spider sized giant insects like Ants and Butterflies though.
Perhaps piranhas in lakes generated inside the jungle biome :v:
I love how Jeb's putting so much awesome content.
Also does anyone know if he's going to add the mushroom blocks into creative?
I hope the jungle biomes become a bit more flatter
Jungles need ewoks.
And branches should have bark on the top of the blocks as well.

I think mushrooms aren't in creative because there are technically only two mushroom blocks, and they use damage values to determine what textures are applied to each face.

That reminds me, do passive mobs despawn these days, or can you put them in farms and paddocks? I haven't been playing Minecraft for quite a while.
In my current world, I have to travel quite far to find pigs and chickens.

They do not.
Ah, thanks!
I really think mobs should respawn if there is none in the immediate area.
