Is Minecraft PVPing something one can train? Some friends and I are playing a PVP map, and one of them keeps winning no matter what the teams are. It's just fist versus fist fighting, so I don't really get how good one can get at that.

Jump back after every attack and jump for critical hits.
The key is to punch the opponent.

Thanks but what exactly would I put in a Museum from minecraft?
Hey, to whoever last posted that picture suggestion: You can repair tools if you have two of them, just put them in the crafting square next to each other.
Hey, to whoever last posted that picture suggestion: You can repair tools if you have two of them, just put them in the crafting square next to each other.
It makes more sense to combine a broken tool with more materials to repair it. Plus, if I'm far underground and need to repair my iron or diamond pick, chances are much higher I'll have some ore or diamonds I can throw together to repair it than carrying around tons of damaged tools in my inventory.
I'm working on a few mods here and there, what do you think?
This ones a bit useless but maybe can come in handy when decorating

And I dont know if this has been done before, oh well. It allows you to repair your diamond tools

The thing I like about this, is that it has that minecraft simplicity to it.
It seems so natural and actually looks like it would BE in vanilla minecraft.
I like it
Anyone know any small time servers that are just for fun?

The current vanilla repairing is completely useless, only thing it really does is free up an extra inventory space. It doesn't make a new fully repaired tool, it only adds the durability together, so you don't even get any extra use out of them, and in fact you'll get less uses by repairing tools if both tools are above 50% durability. And worst of all repairing a tool doesn't even keep the enchantments(not to mention all the other ways to randomly lose an enchantment on a weapon), so the vanilla repairing is just terribly done.

From the wiki:
The resulting item will have slightly more uses left than the two original items, more based on what material of the tool is used. Therefore, repairing is slightly more useful than just space conservation as what might be initially deduced.
Ah thank you, that wasn't very apparent in game. But the not keeping enchantments is still a large problem.
I guess not. Oh well.

there's also this:
*get right next to guy, point at him, unplug internet connection*
clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick
*plug internet connection back in, die, watch guy explode*

Scrap potions.
Make enchanting simple.
Add decent repair systems.
Remove The End.
Bring back The mid-beta terrain generation w/ new oceans.
Increase height limit greatly by using a "Cubic Chunk" system(32x32x32 rather than 16x16x128).
1. remove villages all together. OR 2. Remove villagers, make all buildings dilapidated and overgrown.
Add new stone types such as marble and granite.
I'm all for this except The End part, its a part you don't have to go to.

I'm afraid you don't understand progress at all. That would be going backwards. You can easily make things better, but removing them is design suicide.

What a retarded idea.
As I posted in the 'What are you Working On' Thread.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/29680256/Minecraft/Fusoria.zip
This is a map I've been working on for about 3 weeks straight.
The village, mining colony and half finished rail system were all mined, and constructed by me.
If you want to see screenshots of it then its in page 7 of the 'What are You Working On?' thread.
Just a note though, this is designed to be a map for a server, seeing as how I've made a village and colony so if you can playtest this with other players and see how that goes, that would be great.

here's an idea
Add more combinations for potions
Make enchanting less based on random chance
Make a decent but not overpowered repair system that fits
Make the End a more fitting goal to minecraft, make it harder and more rewarding
Improve terrain generation to be less uniform
Finish the villages
Add more block types with variety such as marbel, columbs, and such the like with patterns and such.
i want this game to have better unarmed combat this game would be so wicked if i could punch a dragon to death
What I think.
Scrap potions. Why do that? I agree the poiton system isn't as good as it could be, but scraping it is dumb
Make enchanting simple. It's already fairly simple, it's just kind of pointless, some of the enchantments are good, but they're just impractical without grinding for exp.
Add decent repair systems. Yes.
Remove The End. The end isn't great, maybe not remove it, but there needs to be a LOT of work on it, it feels completely dull and rushed. Maybe change it to a happier place instead, because there is already an "evil" dimension.
Bring back The mid-beta terrain generation w/ new oceans. This is backwards, Jeb just needs to add more biomes and tweak existing biomes and all that, not revert to an older code.
Increase height limit greatly by using a "Cubic Chunk" system(32x32x32 rather than 16x16x128). Infinite height just doesn't seem right to me, if anything there should be an option to change the height of a world.
1. remove villages all together. OR 2. Remove villagers, make all buildings dilapidated and overgrown. This is again backwards. The villagers will be great once they get proper AI, and proper interactions with the world and player. Notch half-assed these and never finished them then released the game anyways, that doesn't mean they can't be a great feature with more work.
Add new stone types such as marble and granite. This is a good idea, this is thinking forward. More types of stone would add a lot to the game.
It takes up a lot of space and can look real nice if done right.
There should be more variations to block types. Let's say we seperate the types to Wood, Stone, Wool, and misc. Stone obviously includes stone bricks, stone, cobble, etc, wood includes wood, logs, fences, etc, Wool includes wool (duh) and misc includes things that don't fit into any of the categories properly, like Bricks, glass, that stuff.
There should be more variations to the block types while still retaining the color (Stone is gray, wood is brownish/log color, wool is wool, etc) like columbs for stone, stacking plates (Those things on roofs?), just things like stairs and stuff for wools, etc. This could go a long way.
I've noticed something... The Overworld is the only hospitable plane in Minecraftian space. Everything else is cruel, evil, or at the very least uninhabitable.
How would columns work? Two or three blocks high, larger than a fence but smaller than a block?
Columns would be pretty badass...
Support colomns for things like Swamp Cities.
