Minecraft Chat Thread v67: 2012 edition! - Games

It'd be pretty cool if someone with a big server (30 or so slots) had a map with two cities with perks and querks (One is made of wood and can be burned, the other have a lot of machinery that can be detonated, for an example at least) and we planned ahead when everyone would get on, and there would be a massive battle with people getting basic equipment, and having to raid the other base, involving tunneling, building make-shift cannons, raiding for supplies, etc, and end with one team demolishing the other team's city's center building.

I thought of something for a server. Basically there are two (or more) ops, and they each have their own "faction". Basically, separate groups of players follow one or the other op, doing their will, while the ops each spawn stuff for their factions. The two factions would fight one another, and the ops would have to agree to certain rules, like not getting directly involved, only spawning stuff for their followers, gathering intel, stuff like that.

Full-on spawning would just turn into diamond and tnt and potion spam, but with some sort of limit could be fun

Maybe just to help the factions with items that aren't renewable, such as diamond, but it would have to be in moderation.

The OPs could have a referee make sure they don't spawn a bunch of diamonds. Or instead of OPs they just assign leaders, and a referee/rule keeper will give each faction a set amount of supplies (cobble, wood, etc) for them to start out with, and they have 5 minecraft/ one irl hour to set up a base with walls. In addition, the OP/rule keeper will be somewhat of a game master, setting up easter eggs with supplies like TNT, flint and steal, armor, etc, along with traps and stuff, and maybe in certain situations turn the side of battle for one team or the other to keep things interesting. We should really get this going.

If I had money I'd donate. Since it's a battle ground thing we only need to run it when we want to do a battle, which wouldn't be too often probably. 15 people would probably be a good start. It'd take a while to get enough people who would want to do the battle when it's planned though, it'd need it's own thread.

I don't know many plugins, but as far as this go all we need are anti-hacking plugins. Chest protection isn't too important, maybe instant-chop down for trees would be good. On an unrelated note, anyone suggest any good texture packs? Something like Ovo's Rustic or Painterly?

Some things to add to the front page from an old minecrafter: The survival test just tested out very basic mobs, weapons, etc. No crafting. It was a limited world(like 256x256 or something, not sure) Indev was basically the survival test, but with crafting. There was only a few things you could craft, the world was still finite, and mobs were still very.. 'primitive'. Infdev was Indev with an infinite world(With a few added things to the crafting list) Creative wasn't always called Creative. It was just called.. Minecraft, until 'survival mode', or I believe Alpha.. There's your history lesson from what I can remember.

So im thinking of starting another minecraft server. This time itll just be a simple PvP Disabled, Survival server. 15 slots, nothing but the general admin/chat pluggin. Would that be fun to play on? A PvP Disabled, Survival server?

Maybe the latest version has fixed that.

Sure that would be more active than this particular thread of yours, but keep in mind that all the skins, all the videos, all the work in projects, and all the general discussions from other minecraft threads would then also be posted in the same place. Seriously, I prefer it this way. It's a lot less chaotic.
