Quick question, I finished playing DA:O logged in over 120 some hours, it was awesome. Now i'm going through Awakening and recently picked up DA:II because of the Steam sale. Is it necessary to play through all of Awakening to import your DA:O stuff?
Not neccessary, but Awakening is fucking badass. If it was longer it could have been a full sequel.
It's still designed the way it is because of consoles. DAO just didn't work well on them.
All they had to do was change the controls on the console, not fuck with what they did. I still really like DA2 but a lot of the changes were too much, like adding waves, I played on the 360 and never had a problem with facing all my enemies at once.
Not neccessary, but Awakening is fucking badass. If it was longer it could have been a full sequel.
If only they made your companions as interactive as DA:O. I wanted full-fledged conversations, dammit! Oh, automerge is pouting, I see. Oh, no it isn't.
Not neccessary, but Awakening is fucking badass. If it was longer it could have been a full sequel.
So there's nothing storywise that i'd be missing out on? Dun worry i'll make sure to finish Awakening, i just wanted to know.
You know what, Reiq should've just made a drawing relating to the body shots line, that would've worked fine. Which, incidentally, may just be the best line I've heard so far this year.
I like how the Dragon Age thread isn't even really about the game, it's about highly sexualized fanart of the game. Bioware and Hepler would be proud.
this thread would be dead if it wasn't for rong's constant bumping.
I try my best to update with news of the game.
This game was pretty short and repetitive.
So i just finished Awakening, it was awesome Human noble, saved both (kinda) The keep was rebuilt 5 years later, killed the mother and all. But i don't fully understand one of the dialogue areas with the image of the Architect there speaking with the mother, did he release the old god/archdemon or what?
I won't let DA2 thread die!

Bioware kind of dropped the ball on this one. I mean, it's fun and everything, but compared to Dragon Age: Origins, it's almost like they're two different franchises.
Bioware kind of dropped the ball on this one. I mean, it's fun and everything, but compared to Dragon Age: Origins, it's almost like they're two different franchises.
Which is the issue I had with it. If it was from another developer and it wasn't a sequel to such an amazing game, this game wouldn't have gotten nearly as much hate. Despite all that is wrong with it, it would have likely just faded away or been dismissed as a bump in the road. But it was developed by Bioware, and it was the 'sequel' to an amazing game. It's a shame too because they could have done so much with this franchise, now it's going to take a lot to just salvage it.
So, almost done with Dragon Age 2: Legacy. It's got some vibes echoing back to the style of the quests back in Origins in how you're trudging through a dungeon. I'm enjoying it a lot so far; it's a shame the actual game wasn't like this. Also, the final boss is creative in design but an ass to fight.
Well, I'm jealous. The DLC looks pretty cool.
Completed Legacy today and I must say, Muzyka wasn't lying. DLC is really great. The only bad thing is a part with breaking the seals - it's too long.
It's depressing to think that if they had put that much variety into the original game, without having been brutalized by reviews and angry fans, that it would have been much better. It's nice to see that they can still create environments when they're not being lazy as shit.
After going through Legacy I'm not as worried for Dragon Age 3. Sure it probably won't be the epic that Origins was, but Legacy showed that a synergy between DA2 and Origins wouldn't be too bad if executed correctly.
Guys, am I near the end of the game? Where I have to choose [sp]Meredith or that elven guy and they are now fighting one another to take the city[/sp] But I didn't choose [sp]Meredith, she sounds like a bitch[/sp]
yeah, you're at the endgame
I don't think I'll ever play another game that's as good as DA:O
Completed it, finally. Didn't matter who I choose [sp]You end up killing Orsino anyway[/sp]. [sp]Leliana was in there at the end too...? Playing Origins, way to too hard for my tastes. So Dragon Age 3, you properly have a double path, maybe, The Warden and The Champion? and crossing paths, but the Champion disappeared. Would be nice for The Warden to come back. And seeing as there's a great war going on, to set up a sequel[/sp]
As long as they actually take the time to write the damn game so it doesn't read like a bad Adventure/Romance fanfiction, I couldn't care less who the main PC is.
[sp]We properly start off working for The Seekers in the start[/sp]
I'm currently playing this game, and even though it feels a bit watered-down, it's not all that bad. Sure, there's a bit of repitition concerning parts of the environment, and the crafting system has been kinda weakened, and there doesn't seem to be as many Spells/Talents as the original had, it still feels kinda good, and I especially like the improvements with the staff weapons. Instead of slowly launching these singular zaps every 2 seconds like in the first game, now you just BLAP enemies with a quick 4-hit combo, then another blast unleashed by slamming the staff into the ground. The animations you do as you Staffblast those bastards are also damn cool. Despite being watered-down quite a bit, I still like it, even if it doesn't hold a candle to Origins and Awakening.
Just felt empty as much afterwards, the Emporium dlc felt useless, because I had all the stuff I need that were better. So guess, search for quest mods or something.
Man, just finished Dragon Age 2, and I can say it felt shorter than the main campaign in Origins, and a lot more linear at that. Doesn't help that I bought my copy on Steam before the DLC fiasco, so I probably can't grab the DLC to extend the replay value. But still it was at least ok, even if I clocked a total of 83 hours with my Ultimate Edition of Origins, but then again the Ultimate Edition was like a fine Christmas goose with all the trimmings, all that DLC packaged in, all those different campaigns, etc (still haven't completed Golems of Amgarak, Leliana's Song or the Darkspawn Chronicles yet, so that's something for another playthrough), so I can't really compare my clocked-hours with DA2 to the timesink that I accumulated with Origins. I guess now I should try out the Mass Effect series when it's on sale, since we haven't even heard anything about Dragon Age 3 yet. Speaking of 3, it's rather strange that both Hawke and the Warden have gone missing; where could they be? And more importantly, what's gonna happen in Dragon Age 3 anyway? I have no idea where they could go from there, except that it might focus more on the [sp]Templar-Circle conflicts sparked by Anders' "Arcane Nuke" that destroyed Kirkwall's Chantry[/sp]. Still, I hope that we get to see both the Warden and Hawke return, perhaps with three campaigns; one that follows the Warden, one that follows Hawke, and a third that has the two paths converge. Also, who the fuck is Flemeth really, and what the hell is she planning? I am at a complete loss as to what she's working towards, the enigmas are confuzzling. One last thing; the kossith (official race-name of the qunari) looked awesome with their horns, really sets them apart from the other big-guy races in fantasy literature (except the Draenei, but they had octupuses on their faces and hooves for feet). Imagine if Sten had horns; he woulda looked totally badass. Pity we never saw any female kossith, though. The racial concept art make them look pretty attractive for a race of "militant Islamic Borg", as the lead writer David Gaider describes them. Ok I lied, one more absolute final thing; I hope they still put Dragon Age 3 on Steam when it comes out. I don't trust Origin and it's EAness.
Wasn't Flemeth that Morrigan's mother in Dragon Age?
Yes Flemeth is Morrigan's mother. [sp]though they aren't very close anymore[/sp].
