It's not bad but AD is better, yes.
Still the best late game carry in the game:
1.her passive that makes her tanky late game because any damage exceeds 10% of her current health
2.her ult that gives godmode AND you deal more damage to the guy you ult
3. gap closer and MS buff that also gives armor and AS

As soon as I get close enough to cast any spells, I get focused hard. At least I get some kills out of ignite + visions or pool + ult :D
That's why you wall them first to silence them.
The main problems are her being the worst farmer in the game AND weak early game.
well, I had a game where an AP poppy 1v1d an AD Shaco. she bursted him down to like, 30% hp, then he "lifestealed" his way out of it and ended up winning the fight
then he made fun of poppy being AP
It's not like you can do anything after you use Q.
Your charge deals mediocre damage and has awful scaling.

worst farmer would probably be tiger udyr and early-mid game ryze
farming with nunu and kassadin is also a pain
but I agree, I think not even vayne has a worse early game than poppy
But Ryze is ranged and also Q....
you don't have that much mana to spare early-mid game, and his autoattacks are slow moving and don't deal much damage
Tiger udyr would get turtle and farm with that, why would it be hard he has naturally high attack speed and his animation is good. Nunu I agree.

How is jax?
Jax is good now, he deals more damage but is less tanky because of the new passive. His new dodge skill is much worse for taking less damage since people will avoid attacking you with it on, but it's much better for a reliable stun.
And apparently, Wit's End, Triforce and Wriggles are core on him now

Also about Swain, his ult is mana expensive and his snare doesn't deal that much damage for the cd.
It's used for CC mainly
