Build wise I'm not sure what's better. I've got two builds. First is Boots +3 pots -> CDR Boots -> Morellos -> RoA -> Deathcap (Which makes you do low damage against bruiser heavy teams) or Boots 3 pots -> 2 Dorans -> Deathcap (That's your core, rest is situational)
You underestimate 40% CDR Lux

Except the enemy laner is going to bathe in the luxury of spamming their skills due to lower mana costs and force you to tower if you don't use your skills.

I take Clarity + Ghost on Lux

No they aren't, they are better on most champs than scaling.

GP5 Randuins/Shurelya master bruiser race.
I build Irelia with merc, tri, randuins, warmog, fon, and either guardian angel or atmas depending on status of team battles.
Very solid build with Warmogs to be honest. As long as you can keep dishing damage, your passive and fon give you mad regen

I believer scaling gives you more after lvl4 .. You should be able to manage your mana till then

If you're laning against a magic damage dealer and you have a good poke that you can spam but it makes you run out of mana completely, it works really well on GP for example, you can spam your Q all the time and as your mana will go lower it will also regen so much faster, so you can either farm with Q all the time or poke. Later on you sell the chalice.
