If you read the prologue to SR3, the Saints are heroes in Stilwater. While yeah, they are still a gang, they purged the city of all of the conflicting gangs, they did what the police couldn't do. So, they are revered, the Saints even sell merchandise, but this is where SR3 comes in - "The Saint" gets bored of this lifestyle and is still a criminal at heart, so they try to branch out to Steelport.

If you watched the weapons trailer, it implies that the Ultor guys you fought in SR2 where the local branch of Ultor, not the whole corporation itself.

The GI article says that the Saints ended up teaming up with Ultor, or at least something to that effect. Either way, the Saints and Ultor have stopped fighting each other for some reason. I need to find where I put my copy...

Registering on Steam is part of the install process. If you just use the key then you'll have to download 12Gb instead of just installing off the DVD.

I would definitely recommend grabbing the latest 1.9 beta instead of the stable 1.8 despite my warnings of doom regarding stability. 1.9 is really solid and almost done for release. You can grab the latest release here:

What are your specs? Did you clear out your prefetch, as well use powertools and the stopwatch test to get it as close as possible to original game speed?
