It's a little better then the first, the things that should be noticed is that robbing stores is messed up, multiplayer isn't as good as saints row 1 mp, and there are a few other things that could throw you off. But, other then that, it is a really great game, you should go buy a used copy since it's cheap these days.
I think, since THQ said SR3 would be less gang focused, that the Saints have turned into a large corporation, judging by the custom Saints plane and the way the character is dressed.
You could be right. There seems to be a large building on the skyline with a similar shape to the Saints Row church.
Predicting now that the story is "The Saints are all corrupt with money and power dudes how could you be like this go back to our roots!" and your fellow gang members from previous games have become the bad guys.

I think it'll be more like "The Saints start up a corporation in an attempt to drive Ultor (And Dex, who's an Ultor bigwig and the main enemy of the second SR2 DLC) bankrupt for revenge for all the shit Ultor (and Dex) did in SR2. And by "drive Ultor Bankrupt", we really mean "blow their shit up until they run out of money trying to fix it all"."
I hope it's not the exact same map again. Or if it is, hopefully the new engine will be good enough that it won't matter.

They're getting the guys who ported RFG to PC to port SR3. Should be good.

Meh, I don't like the vibe I get from that teaser. When I heard they were dropping "gangsta" style entirely I was happy about it, but now when I see that SR3 wants to be "The Ballad of Gay Tony-without-Tony-and-Yusuf-to-make-this-game-bearable" I kind of want "streets" back. But it's just my personal feeling, and well, it's just a teaser. It's still too soon to make conclusions about what the game will be.
Anyway, looking forward to it, even though the part of me that is GTA fanboy feels guilty about it. I hope they will improve driving, since cars in SR2 handled worse than in GTA III. Expanded gang customization is also a must, I'd love to finally remake the Vercetti gang in all its glory. And some countryside (but not taking up three quarters of the map like in San Andreas) and safehouses without gang members and strippers wouldn't hurt a bit. Otherwise, I just want them to keep doing what they did with SR2. Maybe it wasn't a game I could respect like GTA, or other, more original sandbox games, but it was really fucking fun.

Let's hope they do a better job porting it this time.

Gat has become one of Saint's Row's landmark icons. They wouldn't scrap him at all.
Hell I'll actually be disappointed if Shaundi and Pierce aren't in SR3 either. I loved the running joke of Shaundi being able to find information because she slept with a lot of guys and her always stealing Pierce's thunder.
That's one thing I loved about Saints Row; the characters were likable.
Donny better appear too. That little weasel's managed to survive through both games.
Somebody in the Saints is most likely going to die though, if they keep the zombie gag running.

I imagine it along the lines of conquering other cities now, since they own all of Stilwater. Either that or corruption, you get kicked out of the Saints and need to rise from the ashes kinda thing.
