My trade on TF2 outpost didn't go through, was hoping all the pre-order exclusive hats I had would be worth a $50 game but I suppose not :(.

I got the game gifted by a nice American friend due to the game being un-purchasable in the UK on steam. Used the VPN to play but I dont seem to have the Genki pre-order pack?
I have nothing in the DLC tab aswell.

As far as I know only the person who actually bought it gets the pre-order bonuses and shit like that. The gift contains ONLY the game itself.
Is the VPN trick safe? I don't feel like getting banned or anything and just want to make sure.

Nope, cars handle fine and dandy for me. It's different than GTA, but it works.
I've played this game for about an hour, and oh boy it's FUN AS FUCK. Firefights can get really intense, you have a wide selection of fancy and fun weapons (finding and buying them and ammo for them is also easy to find), activities are tons of joy, and guess what? [B]This game works! On a PC![/B] Forget SR2, this is the definitive Saints Row experience. Best 50€ I've ever spent.
It kinda lags [B]here[/B] but that's because of my graphics card.
I haven't tried Co-Op yet, but it seems tons of fun aswell. Maybe after this VPN clusterfuck is over.

Yes, it's completely safe. However, your connection will be significantly slow if you're outside of whatever country you're simulating (right now I am on an Australian IP), so make sure to turn it off while you're not playing Saints Row 3 until it's officially out for you.
It's like a proxy. It's only dangerous if you don't trust it.

Same, I got Genki and the TF2 items, and with Dead Island I got the free DLC. Getting through Steam Trading is the same as buying the pre-order.

Just watch out, Steam doesn't like people buying CD keys if the company doesn't also send you original packaging. On the Steam forum, if you even type the name of these businesses, they get censored automatically. Green Man Gaming appears to be an exception, even though I don't think they offer to mail the original packaging (or do they?)
I opened a support ticket about this and they clearly said they reserve the right to block you from any games in the future that were purchased through these companies.
Of course, you probably won't be blocked any time soon anyway, so whatever. I'm just paranoid.
I got my hard drive problems fixed. Now I can play. :D

Shame that both major game retailers are under the same flag. This is why I kind of hope that digital games win over retail so the UK doesn't have to keep losing out on pre-orders.
If it wasn't for the Saints Row Q&A I wouldn't of known that steam were selling it.
Or Game is good for is selling games over priced. I just buy off Gameplay now much, much better.
