I hate how every stronghold's penthouse looks exactly the same. I hate seeing that same goddamn dildo on the bathtub.
I miss being able to customize the inside of your cribs. I loved that in SR2.
Does anyone know if you ever get to use the "City Takeover" bonus more than twice? Once from buying it [sp]Second time I got for giving that Nyte Blade fag to STAG[/sp]
I find it kind of irritating you can only use it once, if that's the case. I, personally, hate some of the side missions you need to do to take over neighbourhoods. Like trafficking and escort. I don't like that I'm forced to play them to take over an island.
I've not been following this argument very closely, but something you need to think about. If you're recording a game world as it plays through, all you NEED to save is entity data. What entities are in the world, where they're moving and how fast, etc.,. That data may get quite large quite fast if there are a lot of vehicles and pedestrians, but there are also a lot of things it DOESN'T need to save. If you're saving a recording for later in-game editing, a good save method would ONLY save the entity data. The world data would be automatically generated by the game because it already has the information stored elsewhere and doesn't need to save it twice.
I would actually argue that they keep about the same amount of space. For the 2D video, you need to record between 1.3 and 1.7 megapixels (1280*1024 to 1680*1050, probably the most common range of resolutions) of data PER FRAME. Include the fact that you're then rendering anywhere between 12 and 60 frames PER SECOND (on average), that's a lot of data. Even compressed. Whereas 3D data saving could probably be done with coordinates, vectors, etc.,. Updated per frame, or whenever it changes. But I don't know game mechanics and design terribly well from the coding side, so I'm kind of speaking out of my ass here and could be wrong.
The more I think about it, though, the less I agree. A good in-game 3D renderer would use less data. Recording the screen to a file would be rendering the same image twice. Once to display, and once to the file. I don't know if it can be consolidated into one rendering that gets sent to both screen and file, but you're still rendering it "twice". And you render EVERYTHING twice. With a 3D renderer you could potentially render much less data twice. Entity details, stuff like that. Render it once, render info (but not render data itself) to a proprietary format that the game can read.
Like I said, though, I'm just making conjectures and could be wrong. I'm not a programmer.
2D should be larger however 3D is likely saved like how you said. However 30 seconds worth of data can be a lot, especially in a video game. You have to write down the model type, animations being played, etc. If you store this data for each frame at 30 FPS and each frame is about 200-400 KB(A estimate, may be smaller or larger). At a total of 30 seconds that is 180,000 KB over 30 seconds or 175 MB at minimum. You also can't just write all this info to the HDD or SDD. It takes valuable time that could be used to render.
You can make pretty realistic faces with the editor if you spend some time with it.

But then again, Saints Row 3 is a whacky game.

It's optional to take them over, it's only for gaining 100% and nothing else.
Either deal with it or stop crying over having to play the game to finish it.
Is anyone else having problems calling your Homies to come fight? They are nearly busy all of the time - and there's a weird bug that goes with it: Everytime I click someone's name, nothing happens; as soon as my mouse rolls over another Homie's name, my phone calls. Is there supposed to be a delay or something?
Last I heard is that you have to do the alternative ending, then they should be available.
Same happens to me. Instead of clicking, press enter. Possibly because of not having done the alternative ending, possibly a bug even if you do it, I dunno.

Why would you save the data for the entity multiple times, especially once per frame? That's a very inefficient way of doing it. You would save the data once and simply reference it again from there. The model won't change unless it needs to and you can save the new data in that frame. The only thing I can really see changing with models in Saint's Row would be cars and their damage models. And even then, that data wouldn't HAVE to be saved. Give the replay editor/saver/whatever some intelligence and ability to emulate the game and it could change the model when it needs to because that's how it would normally work in game.
One thing I don't understand. I think it's a glitch, but do any of your gang members drive around in the street? None of mine do. They only show up walking on the streets. I remember in SR2 they would drive around the city in the cars you chose.
I noticed that the vehicle customization for gang members doesn't work. All I ever see the Saints drive (which is when they arrive to a combat situation) are Criminals. I have them set to drive Sovereigns, Atlanticas, and Bootleggers. I notice they arrive in these vehicles when I do basejumping diversions, but the car isn't customized at all. It's just a stock Bootlegger/Atlantica/Sovereign.
I also notice that sometimes I see random Saints as Space Saints and Luchadores even though I have then all set to be Decker lookalikes.
I'm an angry little man
The point of the Saint's Row games is to own the city you're in. Regardless of whether or not it's 'optional', It's still a BS mechanic to force players to do activities they don't like to finish something.

I think they would save the data per frame because say if something occurs because of a glitch or issue and for some reason it wouldn't occur naturally on another system you would want it to occur exactly as it originally happened rather than what the game might interpret.
I think i'm just going to make the most fucked up character ever and put on the zombie voice and play through the campaign again

Yeah, I didn't understand this. The cars I chose for them are almost NEVER used, they always show up in the trucks. Kinda disappointing since I don't enjoy driving their trucks, I wanted to drive the cars I chose. It also did disappoint me how they are never just driving around.
For me, like 80% of them are wearing the outfits I chose, and the rest are random other outfits. Once I had one show up in the purple Genki outfit. This, in my opinion, is a good thing though. I like seeing other outfits, while still having the majority be the ones that I chose.

No, it's completely understandable.
I have never seen a sandbox game (and other games in general) that doesn't requier you to do lots of shit you may not want to do in order to get 100% completion.
Look who I found

I'm talking about owning the map not getting 100% completion in game.
I don't care about that. I just want to own the entire map
I liked it better in SR2 where taking on the other gangs and missions gave you territory, and the side missions were just that. Side missions. A way to make money and respect. Not something necessary to finish the game.
When its "unethical" and "ethical" to shoot certain people (in the city, not in the Genki arena) with the octopus launcher, does it mean anything? Damage? I haven't used the octopus launcher enough to find this out yet. I'm assuming its nothing
edit: ohh, its probably just if they turn into one of your followers or not?

Yeah, if it's unethical then you've hit a brute, boss, or genki, so you can't just convert them that easily.

Owning the map is more or less 100% completion, the only thing you need besides that is getting the collectibles, most of which you are bound to find whilst doing the missions.
Jeez did the co-op and whored online die that quick?
I'm going to spoiler the following. It's my opinion on the ending of the game. Nothing is given away but I'm just staying on the safe side.
[sp]Yeah... so I just beat the game. The fact that this was the ending is -extremely- disappointing and it came very unexpectedly.
Also I felt that the actual ending of the game was very... shit. It was too corny. After the story that had preceded it, ESPECIALLY the last mission before you got to the ending, it felt like a slap to the face. It ruined the game for me honestly. It went from being Saints Serious to being just... fucking corny.[/sp]
[editline]22nd November 2011[/editline]
Actually, fuck. I'm not even mad about it anymore. Now I'm just depressed. What the fuck do I do now.
I guess I have to go back to Skyrim...

Reply the last mission and choose the other ending. It's much better.
But I don't want to be [sp]a giant dick and go after one man instead of saving Shaundi and Viola and letting the giant monument get destroyed[/sp] ):

Trust me, its worth it.
Cmon, how is [sp]fighting the fucking DAEDALUS[/sp] not better than [sp]Saints in space?[/sp]
I really wish they'd have the character creator on the main menu.
And the full Initiation Station too.

If you're still having AMD performance troubles, try the hotfix drivers.
They improve a little from 11.11 CAP2 and make it generally more playable instead of choppy city.

I left the game running while i was out for the day.
I now have over a million dollars, and can pretty much buy everything.
But I'm not buying the invincibility upgrades, i still want some form of challenge.
My friend and I killed genki
He got the cash
Damnit

I personally agree. DEFINITELY replay the last mission. I was against letting [sp]Shaundi die[/sp], but a day later I decided to do it anyway. It is much more serious and was very satisfying. [sp]Saints in Space[/sp] left me disappointed, because even though I did find it funny, I did not want the entire campaign to end with a silly joke. Plus don't you unlock a thing or two from replaying it?
Worth it even if you don't agree with the choice you have to make.
My question is: How will SR4 handle the way you ended SR3? Will it take the [sp] Killbane ending [/sp] or the [sp] Gangstas in Space [/sp] bit? I'm confused but ah well. I love the game. Wish there were more Genki activities.
I got bored again

I know its a bit out-there to think this, but after seeing the [sp]Gangstas in Space ending, I wouldn't be surprised if SR3 was a movie. Why were they acting with Killbane in the ending, and why did my character specifically say "I'm sorry" to Killbane, when they wanted him dead in the previous mission? Why was Gat killed minutes into the game, and why did nobody care much aside from Shaundi? And then he's back as an actor in Gangstas in Space. Why were zombies real, but they were only on TV in SR2? Plus movie/TV cliches, like how Kinzie has you play a videogame to hack a gang. The pimp carts blowing up as you shoot them. Various other small things.[/sp]
I highly doubt anyone here agrees with me, and I don't think this is necessarily the case, but I just wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be this.
How the fuck do you melee someone in the nuts, esp. with weapons? I remember in an earlier video each weapon had its' own nutshot melee attack.
I'm on a PS3. I haven't figured it out.
