Well, they don't count toward your completion percentages. I'm not sure how exactly you are suggesting that they be any more optional than they already are. I can't just have them appear in the mission replay menu if that's what you mean. The game doesn't work that way. They have to show up as mission icons on the map first that you have to complete, and only then can they be replayed.
$500k for that last mission is because it will be extremely hard to finish with what I have planned for it. You only had a chance to see the setup/intro for it and I'm working on the rest which will make you earn that cash + the Aisha and Carlos homie unlocks.
Regarding motivation, you're really not missing much. One intro cutscene less than 30 seconds with talking heads for all of them. The DLC was pretty lame in that regard. Eventually we hope to have the actual soundbanks and cutscenes working, but for now this is the best we can do.
EDIT:
If you mean optional via the install menu, it absolutely cannot happen that way or else it would totally break your save if you ever removed them again after finishing. It would also break coop completely. They have to be part of the base install of GotR to avoid that.
I see. Nevermind, then!
I was looking for some of the Saints Row 2 radio music when I found this:

It's every character voice in the game singing along to Take On Me. Sometimes it sounds like a mess, but other times it sounds genuinely beautiful. I did not make this, but I thought it was worth sharing. When I heard it, I pictured every character I've ever made singing it together, since I've made one with every voice. I do picture them as being friends.
Sounds like some drunks singing karaoke.
Take on Me was the best of the bunch.
I remember spending hours with a friend trying to drive up the Ultor tower with the Kaneda.

I liked Fem 1's take on "Everybody Wants To Rule The World". It's especially funny when she mumbles past a few parts of the song due to not really knowing the lyrics, but that's a problem shared by all the voices on the songs they do...
Sounds like some drunks singing karaoke.
If I'm not mistaken, don't they only sing this song when they're drunk? That would explain a lot.
holy shit i just remembered something
when my character was still a guy and using male 1 voice, I went to a garage to pimp out another car and suddenly final countdown comes on and my character was humming to it
he sounded so stupid i burst out of laughter
I know how that is. I had male voice 2, and...I can't remember what he was singing, but at the guitar solo he just flipped out, shouting "Oh shit oh shit guitars and shit!" It was pretty awesome.

This is GOLD.
What's with those super high pitch voices? Still pretty cool.

I'm pretty sure what Volition did was that hey asked the characters to sing the song they were about to play, and none of them really expected what the song would be.
Oddly, I find that the 80's music fits the game the very best.
The only thing I don't like about Saint's Row 2 is its colour scheme. I really hope they bring back the bright, sunny days and the vibrant colours. Saint's Row 2 is so washed out.

I think the latest GOTR has an optional mod that brings back the vibrance. Am I right, IdolNinja?
The SR3 color-scheme looks promising.

It's not optional. It's a core part of GotR. Clear Skies (the main weather condition that happens most of the time) is now a real close match to SR1 and also removes all that ugly haze. There's also a Vibrant cheat that crazy boosts saturation making it almost like a day-glo acid trip if you're into that kind of thing.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I didn't realize the difference until now.
The Saints Row: The Third PC version will be available via Steamworks.
Nothing can be available via Steamworks, it can either implement Steamworks features or be avaiable for putchase through Steam-
I meant Steamworks as in it will implement Steamworks features like achievements and stuff like that.
2. What systems will Saints Row: The Third be available for?
2a. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC (Steamworks).
It also looks like SR3 will be getting a normal price of $50 on PC.
If anyone is sick of hosting a game and waiting for hours or join laggy games add me: inuyasha193
I host games all the time and only lag I hear about is from european players.
I only host co-op. If you can rally some people up I will do multiplayer too.
I have my money and i am throwing it at Volition. (Slightly literally since i'm buying Red Faction Armageddon aswell)
Whoa yeah, $10 difference, huge.
Only reason why PC games are cheaper is because you spend money on the Computer to run the game, i don't exactly like the idea of spending about £800 on a computer for example on a game that costs the same as a console game, even if the price isn't a huge difference, over time it is.
[editline]11th April 2011[/editline]
Like i spend £1039 on my computer and it's practically future proof.
Actually it's because of the licensing shit that publishers have to play to Sony and Microsoft to get them released.
I'm gonna buy it for the Xbox 360 so that I can play it with my friends.
Im probably going to get it on PC (granted it sounds ok by you sheeple) and then i can play with you crazy Face punchers
And my brother will get it on xbox so i can play with my friends who get it on ther too
I'm getting this on PS3, fuck Xbox.
8 fucking years, i have my reasons.
fuck Xbox.
Please don't start this shit here.
I'm getting this on PS3, fuck Xbox.
Good choice but be careful.
SR2 got strong modding and you guys are seriously getting it for console...
