It does have subtitles, at least when you have general subtitles turned on.
It usually only says something like "Sneers" or "laughs" but sometimes it seem to be random words like "baby tomato"

My dad is getting me this game in the morning, I can't wait! Although, one question.
Since he's buying me a physical copy of the game, if there any difference between buying the digital copy over Steam, buying the physical disc copy and just playing that (Most likely added as non-steam game shortcut), and using 'Activate a product on steam' with the physical copy's CD-key?

If I use Activate A Product On Steam, will that simply add the digital version to my game list, to which I then have to download over steam. Or will I still need to install it via the disc, and the game will still appear in the steam game list? It has to be activated on steam installs from the disc

As far as I know you could just do like you were going to install from the disk.
Or go enter the key into Steam and download the 8 gigs.

Though, I really hope the challenges don't count towards the 100% because it's going to take a lot longer than I thought it would.
