You guys know that GotR open and standard versions are totally 100% compatible with each other, right? As long as you both are on the same version release number it all works. i.e. both on v1.8 or both on v1.9 beta 13. All the changes within the same version are all client side. So like, you could have 360 onscreen open, and your friend could have the regular kbam standard, and it all works perfectly in coop.
Even the custom patch stuff is compatible with a few notable exceptions. You want to make sure you both use the same weapon mods (I would recommend none for a first playthrough.) You also want to use the same gang types or else gang members will be visible to the host and invisible to the client. You can build and rebuild patches on the fly and it will remain compatible with your save file, so you could easily build a special version for your coop.
Why is Saints Row 2 so badly optimized? Is it because of the console port? Is there a fix for it?

If Saints Row 2 was optimized correctly I could probably play both on high, but I'm stuck with my NVIDIA 9500 GT.

Radeon HD 6950. I've been able to max out just about every game I own.
ATIs are reliable, futureproof and cheap.
So are nVidias.

wow, last card I remember with that suffix was the geforce 4
The last good card i had was an 8400 GT, but before this one i was stuck with a computer that had a Radeon 9600 AGP 8x.
Am I the only person that loved the driving in SR2? It was so easy to feel like a badass when you can turn on a dime and use the handbrake to awesomely slide around a corner at any speed.
I loved the driving in Saints Row 2 aswell, i just don't want them to take away the arcadey driving from Saints Row and replace it with something like that of GTA IV.
I was also one of those people who was persuaded to buy saints row 2, i say 30 dollars is too much then find this thread. I buy it for 5 dollars and my friend goes I don't want to play saints row 2 I already beat it by my self multiple times and I'm like wow what the fuck so i beat it a 3rd time by my self.. aside from that cant wait for saints row 3
