From the Saints Row forums:
Something big is coming on Thursday, March 3rd. Stay tuned!
Might be related to Saints Row 3. Will update the thread tomorrow once I find out what it is.
Yeah, if there is a PC port, they should at least make it compatible with a wired 360 controller. Driving was pretty good on consoles, but terrible on PC.
if they just make it work properly with widows 7 I'll be happy I'd appreciate some upgraded graphics though, as well as a character creator to rival EVE/APB's.
More voices would be nice.
[release]While the original Saints Row felt familiar to fans of the open-world crime genre, its sequel separated itself from the pack with almost cartoonish over-the-top action. Whether you were chainsawing elderly people in half or spraying a pool party down with a poop truck, the franchise was clearly heading in its own direction. Saints Row: The Third takes things a step forward as the most insane installment yet, and it's our April cover. The cover above will be going out to our subscribers, while the cover below will be available on newsstands. [/release] [release]We'll have ten pages of information about Saints Row: The Third, including all the details on the new city and the shady Syndicate crime ring that controls it. This issue also includes a feature on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the ambitious RPG developed by Big Huge Games and Curt Schilling's 38 Studios. Being our April issue, you can also look forward to our annual parody of the industry in Game Infarcer. Check out page 2 for the official THQ press release regarding Saints Row: The Third, and keep an eye on our upcoming hub all month long for more coverage.[/release] [release]Official THQ press release: STRAP IT ON THIS HOLIDAY WITH SAINTS ROW®: THE THIRD THQ and Volition Inc. Take Open-World Action Over the Top and Then Some in Next Installment of Vaunted Franchise. AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – March 3, 2011 – THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) and Volition, Inc. today announced the upcoming release of Saints Row: The Third, the highly-anticipated next installment in the multi-million unit selling Saints Row franchise. Developed by Volition, Inc., Saints Row: The Third is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC this holiday season. “Saints Row: The Third puts you on top of the world, right at the beginning of the game, with all the perks that go along with being the head of an elite criminal organization,” said Danny Bilson, THQ Executive Vice President, Core Games. “There’s no delivering pizza, no shuttling family members about in a long series of taxi missions. Instead, you take all the power of the Third Street Saints and you take the world by storm.” The first details of Saints Row: The Third will be revealed in the exclusive cover story in Game Informer’s April issue, shipping to subscribers in early March 2011. About Saints Row: The Third Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Strap it on.[/release] Wow. The story for this seems outstanding. I cannot wait to get my copy. [editline]2nd March 2011[/editline] Looks like we were on the right track with the whole major corporation thing.
Wonder what became of Dex? Considering the DLC seemed to be building him up as the next antagonist.
More outlandish and insane? Getting to start with ultimate power instead of building your way up again? :w00t:
You can easily tell by the cover that when you're in a gunfight in the sky that this game means serious business.
final level should be where you're in a saints satellite and you have to smash another satellite towards earth so it burns up
Here's hoping for worse optimization.
Steelport...interesting name.
looks awesome ill have to get it
I hope you'll be better able to customize your gang members this time, rather than just setting a preset appearance.

What a fucking batshit insane cover.
I just saw this from my facebook feed. I've got such a boner right now, god damn.
Looks like a pretty large territory, judging from the picture.
I think I'll wait until I get a good report from you guys. Like, not a bad PC port.
well shit another reason to be poor as hell by the end of this year, can't wait.
I'm not liking the sounds of the whole no pizza missions and all. Although they were defiantly not the most fun missions, it was still cool having them. Just hope there is still loads of things to do.
I'm game for it.
As much as I wanted to I couldn't get into these games. They just felt so barren and flat, especially SR2. There were hardly any other cars on the road and even less pedestrians walking around, it just felt unpolished and empty, not to mention that despite this it still had frame rate issues.
10 pages of info on sr3rd in the next gameinformer :gizz: so glad i'm subscribed
Id like to be able to drive trains.
I hope you can get a regular white person voice so I can make a famous white person without them sounding British.
I hope you can get a regular white person voice so I can make a famous white person without them sounding British.
What the heck do you mean by "regular white person"? You saying Americans are regular or something?
Bah, I don't think I'll be able to afford this one at release. Too much shit coming out Holiday 2011; here's hoping some games get pushed back.
On one hand, I'm excited, but on the other hand, it sounds ridiculously stupid. Since when do crime organizations make a merchandise? I've never heard of any "Gambino's fresh soda". Saints never acted like a criminal organization anyway, but this is going a little too far. Since I didn't like any of the Saints in previous games (maybe with an expection of Pierce) I'm actually afraid that I'll root for that "Syndicate" when I'll play this game. I know it's my fault, to try to take game like this seriously, but I just can't help myself. I guess it's good to have SR head in its own direction, but now I'll have to wait a little longer for another game like San Andreas - game that is over-the-top, but still with (mostly) serious crime story.
I got in to SR1 back when it came out, loved the shit out of it, was a refreshing change from San Andreas. I still haven't checked out SR2, though, which makes me feel shitty.

It's not really about the crime, at all. It's more about the goal and the characters, the gang is more of a plot mechanic than actually being part of the storyline. You really can't take Saints Row seriously, it's not supposed to be, it's meant to be ridiculous, nothing about any part of the game is based in realism. I mean, you have women in red clothing fighting the Saints in Steelport's skies. Wondering if there will be more gang customization, and an Asian boss voice(player character). But who is that mysterious woman in the Saints, a new Saints leader, or the female boss of the Saints. Can't wait for Saints Row 3, I mean Saints Row the Third.
