Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees this.
Haha, it is funny considering the game it is heavy based off had a similar thing.
i used irony on the first line to make my point on the second line
Holy shit you didn't even get SomeDumbShit's post Do you even have a functioning brain or something
If you haven't gotten your achievements, restart steam, worked for me.
A few bucks for hours of fun are not enough for some..
This is another major problem with the game that I've noticed. The item system is a good idea, but it really ought to be less randomized. You ought to be guaranteed a weapon-booster (like the Inner Eye or Chocolate Milk or something) within the first two floors or so. I've gotten down the boss of The Depths with nothing more than tears and a lot of heart containers. (Literally.) I feel like it's trying too hard to emulate roguelikes when it really isn't one in the first place... in roguelikes, you're actually a bit less dependent on items since there are usually tons of tactics for dealing with any given situation, and even if you can't find any half-decent loot early on you can generally will it out until you find some purely through smart playing. In this game, the only tactic is "strafe away from the enemies and hammer the arrow keys" so the only way to become stronger is to find better items. Honestly, I don't know what to say. I really, really want to like this game, and I'd really like to say it has lots of potential... but I'm not even sure it does. The concept of a roguelike-zelda-shooter is great, but there's just so many design missteps that I think in order for it to meet its potential it'd really have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Then again, maybe I'm just a huge pessimist.
I'm kind of confused by this, I've had shitty rolls with no keys/bombs, no strength ups and pretty much no health and hard mode on and been able to do it, maybe it's because I know what enemies do but I kinda figured that was the point. Honestly no offense but not sure why you keep posting here, I mean if you don't like the game it's fine but ever post by you is "I want to like the game but I don't. I hate it wonder why." Hope it improves for you (honest here as I like the game) but least try to say something new yo'. It's less about the items then you think, it's more of how you use them and such. [editline]3rd October 2011[/editline]
no, i'm new to bad roguelikes though [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] if this wasn't made by edmund nobody would care about it but since everybody's obsessed by super meat boy they're willing to overlook the actual gameplay and masturbate to the art direction instead i mean hell, that guy who beat it 10 times said himself that he restarts when he doesn't get a power up bonus on the first floor, just shows how unbalanced it is if it's not worth even trying to get through it without higher attack damage
"I don't like the game and I am bad at it the game is awful I'll be a dick in the games thread good idea A++" Yeah there are plenty of flaws in it, and after numerous run throughs the game they become more apparent but threadshitting then acting like a jerkass when someone calls you out on it isn't the brightest thing.
Well then you know jack shit because it isn't.
The way it works is with common onPush and onRelease code, why would putting "JO_01" be a problem for it?
Just got the Book of Sin by defeating gluttony, easily the hardest (though still fairly easy) of the Sins.
Gluttony is easy, Sloth is the hardest, that fucker.
Gluttony is easy, Sloth is the hardest, that fucker.
Strangely I have more problem with Greed, I just kind of lock up and go full fucking retard and stand still while firing. Dude rarely fires or moves around so when he does I just get caught off guard.
>Play as 5th character. (No hearts, only 3 blue hearts, health pickups just give you one blue heart) >Get to Mom's Heart fight >Die with like 3 hits left. :suicide:
I hate how invulnerability after being damaged doesn't let you pass through enemies. Getting stuck in a corner sucks.
The way it works is with common onPush and onRelease code, why would putting "JO_01" be a problem for it?
Because that's not a valid key to Actionscript?
Is it just me or Rosary removes the chance for the devil room to appear? Or I just had 3 bad sessions with Maggy?
Monstro is the easiest boss I think
Monstro =/= Monstro II
Mom's Lipstick, Number One and Pentagram all in Basement 1. I'm okay with this.
Using Monstro's Tooth on Monstro II doesn't do anything special. I'm a bit disappointed. The game really needs some "dev team thinking of everything" elements, like a roguelike.
Larry Jr is so strong he knocked me out of the game :v:
beat the game 4 times so far wee
beat the game 4 times so far wee
I just beat the game for the first time :v:
Because that's not a valid key to Actionscript?
If you say so
The lower Larry looks like he's eating himself.
had the luckiest run ever, i think i got like 5 or 6 health up pills lol
Had a pretty shitty run altogether filled with bad choices and whatnot, but still managed to beat it and unlocked the final-final boss. I hope the next title card isn't as dull as this one is.
If you say so
The burden of proof is on you.
help i am bad with computer (Room had 4 chests and 1 special tool, along with a free ride down. Got there via Teleport)
Where is the saved game located? I email the creator, and he replied "its now saved in a txt file in the isaac dir"
"I don't like the game and I am bad at it the game is awful I'll be a dick in the games thread good idea A++"
yep random items are based on skill amazing reasoning abilities a++
Where is the saved game located? I email the creator, and he replied "its now saved in a txt file in the isaac dir"
i assume it's serial file

It's less about the items then you think, it's more of how you use them and such.
Well, mostly because this games apparent popularity really confuses me. I'm beginning to think the only reason it's getting any attention is because it was made by McMillen. It's just so poorly designed on so many levels. As for "how you use the items," well... most items are purely passive, so you don't really have a choice of "how" to use them. In fact, you can only carry one "usable" item and one pill or tarot card, the latter two of which are 9 times out of 10 completely useless. The problem is, roguelikes are all about learning the game's mysteries and slowly mastering them. In this game, there really aren't any. Like I said, its core gameplay is purely strafe-shoot-strafe-shoot etc.
