Theyre just going to be game modes you could make yourself. I think theyre based on popular private match rules, like Mike Myers.
AUG Famas
Commando AK47 Galil
Spectre Kiparis
Talking about Black Ops ofc
Commando has faster draw speed than the AK-47. Galil has a higher magazine size than both. FAMAS has larger hip fire spread, higher draw speed, and higher ADS time than the AUG. I've never read much about the Kiparis, but I know for a fact that the two have a different set of attachments, which means they both have different playstyles.
Wow you're right besides the fact that they're completely different, they're exactly the same!

Besides those things you said, they are exactly identical. Everything from recoil to damage per shot to recoil path when sighted in.
Damage falloff? Not a whole lot of assault rifles will have a noticeable difference in damage dropoff in real life, especially not at the ranges you're using them in Call of Duty.
I know that, but CoD incorporates it anyway
playing with the damage falloff was used to balance weapons, AK in CoD4 was normally 40-30, but attaching a RDS magically made it 40-20
hmm?

Recoil is not exactly the same with all of those guns, sorry. Wow, two guns having the same damage per shot? That's insane! Oh wait no it's not. In every single game you will ever play that has guns, two of the guns will have the same damage per shot. Recoil path is also not identical with any of those guns.
I like how you said "Besides those things you said, they are exactly identical.". You just re-phrased that satirical sentence I had at the bottom of my post.

That's true, but there's only so much you can do with that. I mean, the poster above you is seriously complaining that two guns have the same damage, so I don't think reducing a rifle's damage by 10 at long range when a sight is attached will make much of a difference with people complaining that weapons are too similar.
Wow, two guns having the same damage per shot? That's insane! Oh wait no it's not.
I am in favor of this, same caliber weapons with similar barrel lengths should have similar damage per shot.
Then again... there was a game that did that. It was called BC2. And the assault rifles were all so boring.
Lesson? Switch up the calibers and don't make 7.62 rifles have the same damage per shot as 5.56
Anyone who plays Call of Duty, knows that Custom Matches are a big part of why we play, from proving your point in a 1 on 1 quick-scope battle, to laughing at your friends in Michael Myers. This year, Modern Warfare 3 will take the Custom Match experience to a new level, allowing some new and some fan favorite game types to come to the field. They are:
ONE IN THE CHAMBER
Infinity Ward is bringing back this fan favorite to satisfy the needs of those craving the wager match, although it is worth mentioning, that this time there is no prize. Just the knowledge that you are better than your comrades.
GUN GAME
Again, another fan favorite and something I’ll be falling over myself to play when the game is released to see which guns I like to play with. Definitely something to look forward to.
INFECTED
An age old game mode that never ceases to amaze, this is by far the best way to find out the best hiding spots in the game and how to get there. An aside to this, is that this has been called several names over the years. Michael Myers is one of the names, and also Zombies was a name given to it.
DROP ZONE
Almost like Headquarters, except that it’s call Drop Zone. Oh, and given that it is called that, Care Packages drop to the glee of the team in command of the zone. I have visions of horrific “death by box” kills in killcams on this one.
TEAM JUGGERNAUT
Didn’t get a lot of information on this one, but as far as we can tell, it’s Team Death Match with a Juggernaut on your team. Pretty straight forward huh?
JUGGERNAUT
Now, this also sounds like a “Pro” version of Michael Myers. 1 person is a Juggernaut, your job is to kill him, then you become the Juggernaut. Easy right?
I like the idea of having guns that fire the same type of round having the same damage, but like you said, that would lead to even more samey-ness. There are only so many kinds of rounds you'd be seeing in a Modern Warfare game.

Reminds me a lot of Halo. It's nice since there isn't a new Halo game coming out since next year, so if Infinity Ward improves the ability to have more people per console. I remember trying to have system link parties was horrible because you could only have two people on a console, whereas with Halo you could have four.

eh?
CoD tends to go for the more obscure guns, as seen with the ACR with it's funk-tastically non-standard 6.8 remmy SPC
5.56 NATO, 7.62 NATO, 6.8 SPC, 7.62 soviet, 5.45 soviet, 5.8 Chinese (if they add those), .458 SOCOM, etc.

The ACR is in 6.8 in this game, but it was unspecified last game. True, I suppose there is a lot of room depending on what they use, but I was using the term 'Modern Warfare' game in terms of games that have a modern, 'tatical' type of theme, like the latest Battlefield games. Usually it's a handful of American weapons, and handful of Russian weapons, and then a handful of miscellaneous weapons from other countries.

exactly, and American/Russian/miscellaneous allows for a lot of room for fudging.
BF3 is meant to represent front-line troops from the US and Russia, aka M16 vs. AK-74, just like on Everon.
CoD deals with spec-ops troops and irregular militias (in MP), so the weapon selection can be more diverse.

I suppose, but so far from what we've seen in MW3 it's a lot of AR-15 type stuff, and a bunch of AKs. I mean, even if there is a lot of diversity, it still would mean a lot of the American guns would do the same damage and a lot of the Russian guns would do the same damage.
Just my two cents though.
And then we have chinese weaponry for some unknown reason :v:
Random terrorists should use cheap imported chinese weapons.
So are shotguns still going to be primary weapons or are they going to balls it up again and make them secondary?
So are shotguns still going to be primary weapons or are they going to balls it up again and make them secondary?
They are Primary now, the way they should be.
Yeah, shotguns are primaries again. The secondaries now are Pistols, Machine Pistols, and Launchers.

Could've done with out the attitude.
I was just trying to put into reference that Modern Warfare 2 guns were less similar than Black Ops'

you can change the uppers of the AR-15 to accomodate a wide variety of calibers.
Yeah, shotguns are primaries again. The secondaries now are Pistols, Machine Pistols, and Launchers.
Got any idea which machine pistols are in there?
you can change the uppers of the AR-15 to accomodate a wide variety of calibers.
You CAN but it's not really practical to have a bunch of guns with a bunch of different kinds of ammo on your side. That's why there are standardized rounds.
Got any idea which machine pistols are in there?
Uh, Glock 18, the Skorpion, and one I don't quite remember. There are more, though, those are just the only ones I really remember off the top of my head.
FMG9 and some other Czech thing.
Machine pistols are:
FMG-9, MP9, Skorpion, G18
Mp9, yeah. Knew it was some Euro Pistol thing.
[editline]19th October 2011[/editline]
[ If only ]
Overkill Pro: Secondaries as primaries.
Skorpion and G18. With dildo sight attachments.
MP9 VS TMP
Is there a difference even?
MP9 has a shorter barrel and I think a caliber change.
MP9 has a shorter barrel and I think a caliber change.
No they are both 9mm, the TMP is overall shorter and therefore lighter than the MP9.
[editline]20th October 2011[/editline]
Barrel length is 130cm for both guns.
I thought it was the MP7 as the other machine pistol, not the MP9.
The MP9 and the TMP are basically the same gun, that would be redundant.
