When Oblivion came out, I'm pretty sure Call of Duty blew it out of the water. Each game has been breaking records, and I really doubt this one will be any different. They're just selling more and more copies, and since this one has a several thousand dollar ad-campaign behind it, including popular actors such as Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill, it'll probably sell just fine.

I don't know your knowledge but Oblivion came out in 2006, a year before MW1, when CoD wasn't nearly as popular as it is now and Oblivion was popular as fuck

Right, I couldn't remember if it came out a year before or on the same year as MW1.
Pretty sure MW1's sales still exceeded it. Elder Scrolls is really popular, but Call of Duty is literally the best selling franchise of all time. I don't care if you like Skyrim more, you can't deny Call of Duty is more popular.

Look at Guitar Hero if you want proof if this rule. Around GH4, it was selling astronomical amounts, and from then on it just got worse and worse. With the varying levels of disappointment from MW2 and Black Ops, the hype for MW3 may not be enough to push it along by itself this time.
Looking at some of the gameplay from either leaks or early releases, it does looks pretty much the same as MW and MW2, roughly the same graphical style as MW, with slightly (only slightly) meatier gun pew pew noises, but with more features from MW2 like the slightly expanded killstreak system, and larger selection of weapons.
Point streaks totally be from Homefront yo.
Could somebody in this thread clearly define the soul reason why you buy a repackaged game from 2007? It can't be for the singleplayer as its extremely linear shit and the multiplayer is exactly the same as previous titles yet you're so hyped. I'm not trolling the thread I'm just curious.

Except Black Ops sold even more, and the pre-orders for MW3 are exceeding those of Black Ops, to the point where most places are legitimately selling out of limited editions pre-launch, which has never happened with Call of Duty before. All signs point to MW3 selling just as well, if not better.

I personally dislike (NOTE: Not hating) the recent Call of Duty games. But I am personally annoyed more by the flamewar between Battlefield and COD fans. I prefer Battlefield myself for various reasons. But can't we all get along?
