I don't really get people who complain about re-hashed gameplay. I mean, the gameplay has been pretty much the same since CoD4. Right now they pretty much said they're trying to find a sweet spot with gameplay so that everyone can play and have fun before they start experimenting. Black Ops experimented and people didn't like it. MW2 experimented and people didn't like it. They're trying to perfect their current style of gameplay before shifting to a new one.

Well the incoherent story seems to be unpleasant to quite a lot of people so I think they should come back to a simpler "go to x, shoot shit, move to y" instead of including some sort of weird half assed story that seems to be taken so seriously.

So far every time someone has pronounced an opinion, even in the most polite way possible, that somewhat goes against one or multiple points of Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3, the common reaction was him being called a Bf3 Fanboy, insulted or his post being overly generalized, all of his arguments going to the bin and the whole thing seen as some sort of aggression towards the game in its whole and its entire fanbase. Your game isn't perfect, and you aren't perfect - if someone says he thinks the game you like is bad, it doesn't mean he's here to offend you, nor he's here to force you to think differently, it means he's here to express and share an opinion because this is a Forum, which has the very purpose of making people able to share an opinion on a subject and get reactions from other people, implying said reactions aren't flaming balls of more or less explicit insults.

This is the exact example of what I'm saying. I haven't criticized MW3 in its whole, I didn't say it was a huge waste of time and it was a wide piece of unredeemable shit, I said it has defaults, which were quite big for some of them. And yet the common reaction is either me being called a battlefield 3 fanboy (because apparently if you're not for MW3 you're for BF3), or in the case of the message above, a huge generalization assuming that, if I disapprove of a specific part/concept of the game, I must logically hate the entire game.
Chill out and just read people's opinions, maybe you'll somewhat be able to trigger an interesting pros/cons discussion.

From what I have seen from the 360 version, not too much is glaringly reused. The sound effects are mostly new (except fot the suppresed MP5, thats sex for the ears).

i don't think the reuse was anyone's biggest qualm anyway. any source game tends to reuse things and those are still absolutely great games.
the biggest issue will be how the PC port fares. if it's crappy like the Black Ops port it's gonna be a huge drag.
I think people are getting far too worked up about small things. First off, MW3 looks nothing like CoD4. Everyone who says it looks worse is stupid.

Trust me, I've just been playing both games exclusively the last 2 or 3 days.
Issues like low res textrues aren't a game breaking thing, and sometimes are useful. I would much rather get a high amount of performance than super quality dirt. Visual though, what I can fault it on is the lighting, it's still not there to compete with other modern day engines, including Source.
Visuals I can understand, but I see some people nitpicking things like people having too much blood, or enemies talking normally with crazy knife wounds. Oh yeah, and reused assets, I've never seen anyone complain that Valve are still using the same models in Episode 2 that they used in their 3 year old game, Half-Life 2. And that's the same case here, the same models and textures are used for continuity. It would be stupid, and a waste of time to come out with something completely new for ever game in a trilogy.
I personally loved the campaign, as short as it was. It tied up all the loose ends and felt like an action blockbuster. That's really all I was looking for. Now to try out the multiplayer!
who plays CoD for the singleplayer lol. multiplayer is where you lose sleep.
I'm liking the multiplyaer and I am finding the singleplayer exciting but it's gotten so formulaic, it's really easily to predict what's going to happen.

That MW3 screenshot seriously looks like a Source Engine mod.
Go make some screenshots of two similar areas and tell me otherwise. The model, texture, and shadow quality the same. The only noticeable thing MW3 has that the 2004 version of HL2 doesn't is specular highlighting and bloom.

The problem with this is that Episode 2 was supposed to be episodic content and wasn't advertised as a whole new game. It didn't even cost as much as the initial release of HL2. Valve also added tons of new models, sounds, particle effects and new rendering techniques to the engine.

The MW3 screenshot looks incredibly better because they used a lot of grainy bump mapping and it's night time. Daytime and smoother bump mapping make everything look, well, not uglier but just less believable.

Some one should post the past CoD games ranging from Modern Warfare 1 to Modern Warfare 3 will all of them at max settings. It's not accurate though. Someone else mentioned that you need to set the resolution to "native" or else the game does this strange up-scaling which looks ugly.
