"Call of Duty v9 - Still not as shit as Homefront!" I see NOTHING that says Battlefield, do you?
Hey it's almost like when you are making two generic modern warfare shooters some parts seem similar.
Hey it's almost like when Battlefield makes a bunch of references to it's prime competitor, Call of Duty, and the publisher states it only exists to defeat Call of Duty, Battlefield is ripping off a bunch of stuff from Call of Duty! Call of Duty is going to have levels in France, and in a metro system? Battlefield 3 has Operation Metro, in France! Call of Duty is going to have Russians invading New York as a major plot point, Battlefield 3 is going to have Russians invade New York as a major plot point! Yeah man just coincidence I really don't know what else it could be.

I wish the russians invading america plot would just die, it`s so overused now.
Are you implying that MW3 is taking from BC2? I suggest you look at what BC2 took from MW2, and what BF3 is taking from MW3.
I sense fanboyism? BF3 is being released earlier and announced earlier than MW3 so how would they take ideas? Anyway, probably going to get the game for Single-Player, looks pretty cool so far. Op metro was also in the alpha which was shown before MW3's trailer even debuted.

I wouldn't be surprised if Battlefield 3 also had missions in London and Germany, like MW3. [editline]7th October 2011[/editline]
I sense fanboyism? BC2 was finished around the same time MW2 was, and they still had a bunch of references and ripoffs. I think you really underestimate how easy it is to change some things around in order to make things like another game. I mean, Metro probably wasn't even France originally, there was nothing to really suggest it was France until you look along the sky line and see the Eiffel Tower. EA said explicitly that BF3 is going to do whatever it can to take away players of MW3, and the only reason it's being made is to defeat MW3, and you're calling me a fanboy for thinking they're willing to rip off MW3 to do it? Okay.

Shows a russian undercover agent running through France' street shooting at soldiers(police, possibly). That trailer/thing was shown before MW3's debut SP trailer. Now explain to me, even if the SP trailer was released earlier(MW3's trailer) how and WHY would they have their script writer completely change the location? Also do you fail to realize the other main faction is PLR? The same force from Battlefield 2, so don't try to come with a reply 2 minutes after mine with nothing to back up your statement.

BC2 was an intentional parody of MW2 and the ~supA l33T speC 0PzZZ#~ shooters. Of course it's going to be similar to the game it's parodying, it would be a pretty shit parody otherwise. Other than the storyline though it was nowhere near the same game (other than being a modern military FPS). I was just commenting on the fact that I have played a level in BC2 set on an airplane. Holy fuck, is nobody allowed to reference any other games at fucking all? it's like you purposefully read just that one line and went into full on hate machine mode. If you had bothered to read the post at fucking all you would see I commented on the fact MW3 is doing it differently, in a more interesting way. And pray tell, what has BF3 explicitly taken from MW3? Their gameplay looks so different, and (judging from BF3 alpha playtime) they will play so different. Christ, it's like working with ADHD schoolchildren in here sometimes.

You actually just backed up my statement more form that. The entire mission 'No Russian' was essentially that, just in Russia instead of France. I also like how you say I have nothing to back up my statements when you aren't posting sources or anything of the sort. Practice what you preach, sir. Considering the game was coming out awhile after E3, it isn't a huge issue to change the location of one thing, considering the single player probably wasn't even done. They would have the script writer change the location to give more competition to MW3. If people are excited about going to France and fighting Russians and want to get MW3, they change a location to France and boom, those people who now want to play missions in France are conflicted between the two games. PLR, okay? Great? I'm so glad they're coming back? What does that have to do with anything I said?

EA cannot force DICE to change the game this late to "rip off" MW3, DICE have been given free reign to make their modern military FPS their way. EA are just aggressively advertising it against MW3 (much to DICE's dismay). The games aren't that similar at all.
In this thread: We don't discuss Call of Duty at all. Back on Subject: Riot Shield Ranger Marathon Lightweight Steady Aim Semtex Flash Instantaneous rape.

Okay. I played BC2 and enjoyed it, and I've been playing the BF3 Beta and enjoying it wholeheartedly. I do not hate Battlefield, and I've been a player ever since BF2. There are a lot of noted similarities between the two games, which is undeniable. BC2 was ripping off MW2 even when it wasn't making fun of it. Covert snow level to start, and then a vehicle chase involving a helicopter at the end of it. All of the levels involving those favelas. The whole "Russia is going to invade the US" plot in general. The plane level is A LOT like the Mile High Club mission from CoD4. I mean, goddamn, it's not even a parody at that point, it's copying a bunch of levels and then trying to pass itself off as a parody.

I can't say completely what is going on but you really think DICE is going to fucking redo maps? Stop doing these bullshit statements where they're never going to end by you simply saying "hurr still the same". The reason I said PLR is because the story isn't ripping off of MW3, that's like saying because BF2 had PLR MW1 copied them by adding OpFor in CoD 4. Seriously, just stop.

If EA wants DICE to make a rip off of MW3 and is really putting the squeeze on them, DICE is going to do it.

But that is what is was trying to do. And it did it to a certain extent. You did take that comment way, way too personally though, I mentioned I played a level in BC2 that was similar recently, and almost as if you hadn't even read the next line, you straight up took that as me saying that MW3 is ripping the game off mercilessly. It is almost like your attention just dropped as soon as you read one line, hence ADHD schoolchildren.

How did I take it way too personally? First of all, it was some text on the internet that wasn't even directed at me, so it would be pretty hard for me to take it personally in the first place. I didn't say "WOW YOU ARE SAYING MW3 IS RIPPING OFF BC2" I said "Are you implying MW3 is ripping off BC2?" see the question mark? See, that indicates a question. Questions are me asking if you actually meant what it seemed that you meant. I was actually not making any assumptions, I was genuinely asking you if you thought MW3 was ripping off BC2.

No I don't think either game is ripping the other off in any way. Though of course there are going to be similarities due to them being set in similar eras, and having similar themes (though MW3 is a much more exaggerated example of war). Thanks to a lack of any real ability to hear the emphasis on words over a forum, that question can come off as a assumption in some ways. Depends how you read it. Though I don't think rating everyone who has posted something you disagree with in some way dumb is going to help your argument myself.

I rate people dumb when I think they're being dumb. That's what the rating system is for, yeah?
Oh my God, who the fuck cares? Shut up and discuss Call of Duty.

What with it being a world war scenario in both, it's pretty likely the places are going to be odd for factions in both too. That's just common sense.
God dammit guys chill out.

It was the same kind of scenario in BC1, and the locations in that were pretty unique from everyone else at the time. Now they're both using the same exact locations and it strikes me as odd. But that's a matter of opinion I guess. Back to discussing Call of Duty.
Enough BC3 here. We don't need those silly little dongs ruining the fun here saying their game will beat CoD. I don't really know why they pit it with CoD. Their nothing alike, just FPS. This is all EA's fault. But whatever. Meanwhile, Activision probably doesn't really gives a fuck.
1. bf3 and mw3 are not mutually exclusive, you can happily own both 2. despite them both having to do with modern warfare and being in first person, both games play far too differently to be compared to eachother 3. they're both great games in their own right (going off past releases) 4. move any future debates to debate section? Like "MW3 vs. BF3" so we can stop having bickering in the associated game's threads is all I have to say off the last pages, also new sp trailer was p. cool, hope it's not a disappointment like mw2
Nobody was even comparing them, why is everybody acting like it was BF fans vs. MW fans over which game is better?
fagduty
Nice MW3 trailer, I wonder if you would be able to snipe at the Makarov scene.
Nice MW3 trailer, I wonder if you would be able to snipe at the Makarov scene.
It might be a callback to the CoD4 mission 'One Shot, One Kill' where you shoot the big bad in a similar scene. If so, you'll be shooting Makarov right there, most likely.
