It's a lot more realistic than Call of Duty, but it's a lot less realistic than ARMA.
Is it me, or does everything in Black Ops look a bit... plastic? Like, everything looks like it's made of plasticine. The models, the maps, the background thingies for your gamertag, everything. Single player looks a lot better, though. That's partly why I avoid playing it; something about the way the game looks freaks me out.

How surprising that he's a silver member and has a low gamerscore.
How surprising that he's a silver member and has a low gamerscore.
But don't you see? He's in the Pr0 tier!
To the "How Captain Price survived" question, it doens't make any sense, as there are a few videos from the C version that the player uses ghost cam at the end (it lets you fly around during cut scenes, but leaves your player alone) and it shows rice dying as the medic shakes his head after trying to revive him. Also, why didn't Private Allen just kill Makarov right then and there? I mean, it's just him and 2 guys, plus the fact that the Russian police were also after him... would've made a lot more sense, but I guess Activision just got lazy making the story up. EDIT: I can't count how many times In MW2 and BO I could swear I was behind cover that bullets could not penetrate (a concrete wall, proning behind a concrete barricade, etc) and I die, with my body being 5 feet from where I though I was and the killcam telling me I proned with only the tip of my head behind cover... riiiiight.
I guess his mission was to gain Makarov's trust, for some reason, when in fact, the real deal was making Allen a patsy to blame the thing on the US. I just remember this pretty funny time in BO, when I aimed straight at a guy in prone, shot 30 bullets from a FAL into him and NONE of them hit. I had a great laugh with that. [editline]9th October 2011[/editline]
Why does nobody pay attention throughout the course of the game?
Lots of people never understand what went on with Price and the missile. Their biggest mistake was using WaW's engine with a few tweaks and giving it a sort of "dirty" look. I don't know, it might be what they intended to give the VN theme a better feel or whatever, but it just made the game look sort of bad. As if everything had a bit of dirt in it.
leaked SP gameplay:
I know it's my opinion and I don't want to shittalk over the game but I just wanna ask you guys for your opinions. I myself don't feel any kind of hype or anything spectacular over this mission. It's just 5 minutes of linear alley shooting and then 5 minute on-rails shooting. I know that not every mission is like this but it just feels bland and boring. And because of the graphics being outdated that train roll in the end isn't really cool or spectacular at all, by today's standards. (I like the touch of the civilians watching though) So this makes me fear that even the spectacular missions in the trailer, like the shootout in the plane, won't really be that great either. I was pretty excited for the cool moments that were in the Black Ops trailer, like the motorcycle + shotgun segment, the blackbird (which I thought I would get to fly :( ) and the underwater mission , which I was told to be entirely underwater, was just a scripted diving into a dry area with just some bits of diving within. I may be wrong, but I see this as overhyped right now. Will probably be good but I'm preparing to be dissapointed.
People expect too much from some games.
But from "The most anticipated Game of the Year" And next installment in the most sold game series. And sequel to the critically acclaimed GoTY MW2. And it being 60$ I can have expectations.

[editline]9th October 2011[/editline] I've never heard anyone commend a Call of Duty game for it's gameplay and/or story.

Judging from that video, I'd say it's safe to say that all car scenes still [sp]end in huge crashes.[/sp]
Gold Camos are on their way back, apparently. Level up your gun totally [All camos, all attachments, etc.] and you will receive Gold.
That sounds better than having to fucking prestige for a Gold Camo then buy it for 50,000 Cock Points. (Yes i am being a child by calling them Cock Points, but i really don't like them)
But I heard that Double Weapon XP nullifies Gold. Don't ask me if I can confirm, I got it from a Gamestop interview on youtube.
Hmm, i like this implementation of Weapon Levelling, it's quite a clever idea, instead of levelling up and unlocking attachments through challenges or whatever, you get them by separately levelling up your gun, so now it feels like it is your gun rather than just a gun.

Oh well atleast the story should be more interesting than Homefront or Medal of Honor. It would be nice but i wouldn't be arsed if they didn't.

The Alpha for BF3 is the only time I got to play it, but it worked really well then.

Yeah i like having a Level on my Gun, it's really cool because then i can say, "Oh my Scar is a level 53" or something, so you know how much i've used that gun for.
I don't know why people are bitching about that level. Yeah it kinda seemed like a standard level, but I liked it a lot. The bit with the truck chasing the train through the subway actually got my blood pumping, especially all the times they almost got crushed by oncoming trains. The thing that kept me interested is that sometimes they do things you don't expect in Call of Duty. The nuke actually killing all of the American character in CoD4, and then watching the remaining main characters get slaughtered. Ghost and Roach dying in MW2, and then you having to pull a knife out of your chest and throw it into the Big Bad's eye. Say what you will about the story and gameplay, but they always have an interesting curveball to throw at you in some way. I don't think anyone is saying Call of Duty is game of the year, but it's solid. It's fun, and there's not really anything wrong with the formula. That's why they keep using it. People love Call of Duty multiplayer. If they mess around with it, they might break it and lose everybody. I mean, Treyarch experiments with multiplayer a lot, and more often than not, the fandom doesn't like it. World at War did some really interesting and original things, but it suffered from really heavy balancing issues. Black Ops also tried out a new currency system along with even more customization, but it also suffered from a lack of variety in weapon stats and the currency system wasn't very good. So everyone who insults CoD for being the same thing every game, go take a look at games that changed their formula too much and lost all of their players. That's what Activision is afraid of doing.
CoD has always used the BF3 system. More games should try that kind of system.
I wonder what camos will come back. I really liked ERDL for some reason, and Ice looked ballin' on the Galil.

With BF3, if you get points while that gun is in your hands, that gun levels up, but with CoD you actually have to do stuff with your gun.
I wonder what camos will come back. Most of them looking pretty horrid too, other than Fall, I think MW2 had a nice selection.
