It's a bit different to re-use an entire interior than re using props.
Except the interior was never meant to be seen. There was a kill-barrier preventing people from getting inside of it. Why would they spend all the time making an interior to a submarine and then make it so that people can't get to it in MW2, and then just never use it again? That would just be really dumb.

It would be dumb to create an interior that never gets used, but that interior has little detailing to it, and they would have to purposefully shoehorn a submarine based level into the game to make it work.
Honestly, they could leave it out quite easily. It was probably meant to have a bigger part in MW2 before they suffered stricter time constraints. And hasn't the game gone gold now? Code-freeze, no development, just bug testing. It comes out in like a month, they need the code freeze.

I'm not saying they should have used it in MW2. The unique looking keyboard probably indicates you were originally going to go down there with Price and help him launch the nukes, but it never came to fruition. Thus, I don't really have a problem with them adding details to it and putting it in MW3. Why is that a big deal, that they're adding details to an unseen interior and putting it into the third game?
[editline]11th October 2011[/editline]
I don't really know what the second paragraph of what you said has to do with anything.

Actually if you do enter the sub with no clip you can actually activate something and there is even a progress bar to go with it.

Yeah. See, that basically proves they were going to use it and ran out of time. Putting it into MW3 says to me that they're doing the level they wanted to do in MW2 but ran out of time.

I'm not making it a big deal, I'm just saying that it's normal to see this kind of thing. Creating a well detailed interior and never using it is pretty wasteful, creating something like that and using it? Very common in a lot of games due to time constraints or it breaking the flow of the level.
The second paragraph was just a question, has the game gone gold yet? Other than the first sentence which was just saying they could easily just never touch that interior again.

Oh, yeah, the game has officially gone gold.
I'm not saying you're making it into a big deal, the person who originally posted it and another guy are making it into a big deal.
Am I the other guy? I didn't mean to, I was just pointing out why the other guy was complaining in the first place.

Ah, my apologies. There's been so much bitching about re-using stuff in MW3 in this thread, it just gets on my nerves when I hear people bitch about it. Every single game developer in history has re-used assets. Some re-use a shitload of them. It's not laziness, it's efficiency.
Uh, they ended up not using an entire interior for a Russian submarine, so they're putting it in a game where it'll actually be seen. Besides, this is the exact same model of submarine, how different is it supposed to look?
Why are people nitpicking so hard? It's like that guy awhile back who was complaining that they used the same truck in a passing shot in a multiplayer trailer for the unfinished product.
In a bunch of minutes, trucks suddenly were completly different :v:

I remember a certain developer who has used certain things a bunch of times, yet its glorified to hell and back.

Nevermind, the rabid blind fanboys of this certain developer will begin to use their neckbeards to throw boxes at me.

Hey, here's a tip for not being called dumb
Don't fucking insult people mid-way through your sentence.

How stupid are you? This is a serious question, i'm just wondering if you actually realise how stupid you sound.

Hard to know which developer you're talking about when about every big developer out there has "used certain things a bunch of times" and been glorified (hence why they are big). It's such an extremely common (and smart) practice that being so vague makes it impossible to know who you are talking about, coz that sentence literally applies to everyone who is not indie and has made a lot of games at same point.

Your post reminds me of a wikipedia quote :v:
I think you know pretty well who am I talking about...
Funny enough, you just said something that is increadibly true, yet when it comes to CoD, its thrown out the window in a flash.

It's thrown out the window like a flashbang.
It's thrown out the window like a flashbang.
Flashbangs go through the door you muppet :v:
In Call of Duty i mostly see them getting thrown through windows rather than doors, that's the joke i was trying to make, obviously i failed.

And I was quotting Price from MW1 when you go into the firing range.
:(
Oh, sorry for ruining the joke.

--well that didn't work--
was gonna make a "When we going to Moscow Sarge?" joke
punchline is i actually give a time frame instead of "When the time is right corporal, when the time is right..."
26 days 9 hours and 15 minutes for the East Coast of the US

if you've got that many kills you're bound to lose, only when you have an "ok" score as a good player do you usually win. Weird how that works...
I agree it always happens if i end up going apeshit on them [sp]oh so punny[/sp], go combined (with a friend) 64-12 still end up losing.

29 kills isn't good?
Shit, I end the game with like 21 or so and a few couple of deaths and we win by a land slide.
Then again, I could have a huge score of 30's and stuff, and have a shitty team, with me being the only one scoring, while the other team could have average players and win.
I don't understand.
you're only one person, you're getting your killstreaks, your allies aren't, doesn't excuse the fact that they're bad but letting them get some of the kills helps the team out as a whole.

i didn't say 29 kills isn't good, 29 kills is awesome, but when you're carrying that hard its either the enemy team is REALLY bad and they're unintentionally feeding you, or your teammates are incompetent in firefights

Uh, I don't think MW2 is really a game where you can just let your teammates get kills. Either they get kills, or you don't. It's too fast paced to really coordinate and split up kills like that.
it's fast paced but you can still hang back.
[editline]12th October 2011[/editline]
oh cool even 4100

But... Why would you do that? His team was probably legitimately shitty. It's not hard to get kills of your own, even if one of your team mates is doing really well. For them to die, his team mates had to die a lot, hence why they're bad. The enemy team doesn't get points if your team isn't getting kills, they get points if they get kills. Why would you hang back and just let your team mates die instead of trying to support the team?
