I'm legitimately interested to see how single player will pan out. I mean, we have Delta Force in America and also some missions in Europe, and then we have the SAS in England and I think Germany. Both of those guys are fighting off the Russians and doing operations to cripple the war effort. Then, we have Captain Price and Soap going on their mission behind the scenes to take out Makarov. It's been awhile since Call of Duty has had three factions you play as in a single game.

All we need now is playing on the Russian side.
What COD needs is a game where every side is played, rather than the game being severely biased against one faction, kind of like when COD felt like you were but a pawn in something much larger instead of directly influencing the war.

Yeah. Well, maybe. They might be one of the minor factions. Like, you got to work for the CIA in a level of MW2, or as a member of the Airforce (I think) in World at War, but yeah. It looks like our major factions are Delta Force, SAS, and... Soap-Price Dynamic Duo.

Battlefield 3 is vehicle + infantry combat, MW3 is a very fast paced arcade shooter.
DIFFERENT GAMES.
Unless you're poor you should afford to get both regardless.

As said in the Halo thread,
Certified stands for Certified Retarded.
The more I think about it, the more I want to play MW3. The graphics have me generally interested, regardless of if anybody thinking they suck. When I saw the black ops trailer, I had an odd feeling that it would get old EXTERMELY quick but I bought it anyway. I was right, it got really really boring. But MW3 has me interested, especially the new tons of customization and the survival mode. Anybody have a clue what wave SM goes up to?

Well, I seen that the cod thread had quite a few new posts, but a couple of those new posts wasn't quite what I was expecting.
Anybody have a clue what wave SM goes up to?
And I think Survival Mode is endless, just like Nazi zombies, you cannot win it, only postpone your death by whatever means necessary for as long as you can.
yeah, it's got better hitreg than BC2/BF2 imo
BF games have always had funky hitreg
DICE have always had a hard time with hit registration in their games. Well, except Mirrors Edge as that actually used Unreal 3 and had no multi-player component. But it is probably down to them not basing their engines off the old gold like iD Tech and Unreal Engine, which have had years to perfect their netcode for their style of shooter.
Basically DICE need more network programming guys.

Just so you (and anyone else from the BF3 thread) know, us CoD guys have nothing against Battlefield or the people who play it. We don't shit talk you guys in here, and we hate it when fanboy arguments go on.
We like our game, and you guys like your game. Hell, half of us (including me) like both.
No hard feelings towards you guys in the slightest.
Not that true.
I hate "battlefags", but said people aren't everyone who likes bf3 or hate mw3. Its those who basically make up stuff about mw3 and dismiss everything else and just say "BF3 is better cuz of X and X and X and..."
To be honest, I actually like both games. BF3 jet gameplay looks awesome. I don't say the game is amazing or something from another world, but it isnt bad at all. Its good.
I also hate CoDfags whenever they start going all "hurr cod is awesome" or whatever. (I don't see many of these tbh because I tend to avoid them, but i feel like its too much hate for nothing...)

I should have quoted this instead.
Its my exact feelings.
The main thing I'm concerned about in MW3 is the color scheme. When IW said they'll be going back to their CoD4 roots, I didn't think they'd go back this far. MW2 had some pretty color vibrant maps, but most of the ones I'm seeing don't look terribly interesting in terms of color.
I'm playing through both CoD4 and MW2 campaigns on Veteran for the first time in anticipation for MW3, man this is a bitch...

I agree. Blops was a big disappointment to me.
Not to say that graphics are everything that matters, but Blops's graphics just suck. I can run Mw1 and Mw2 at max and actually play the game. Blops, I have to run it on something among medium to work it out somewhat better and make it playable. But, setting it on medium is the same as making it look like I'm playing CoD on a very ugly and old blurry version of the Source engine. And why 3arch just used the old WaW engine with just a few tweaks is beyond me. Mw1 actually looks better then Blops IMO.
Mw3 on the other hand will use an upgraded version of the engine used in MW2, IW 5.0 I think... Iw's own engine, and not something from a bunch of years ago made even uglier.
AND, since MW2 actually was sort of an eye candy, I got my hopes up that it will look good.

I don't mind it. They give it a... russian vibe, for lack of a better term. Vacant for example was an awesome map for me, because it felt like a cold place to be. Cold like the cold war :v:
(calling it russian vibe because of the Chernobyl mission)
Is MW3 going to be worth that $60 on release? Thinking of buying it since I can't run BF3 anyways and both seems fun.
A good game on Modern Warfare 2 just, 16 - 0, not bad.

I think it'll be worth it's price, i thought Modern Warfare 2 was so if it's anything like Modern Warfare 2 then i'm sure i'll love it just as much.
Anyone know if intkeys' copy of MW3 is region locked or not?

Blops used the same goddamn engine used in CoD4, are you serious? It's built off of a modified WaW engine, which is in itself a modified CoD4 engine. The graphics are almost identical to how they were in that, just upgraded. The reason you have to run it on medium is being it's poorly optimized for the PC.
MW3 is using a modified version of the MW2 engine, which itself is a modified version of the CoD4 engine. They're both using almost the same exact engine, it just looks a little different.
I get that some people don't like Black Ops, but don't act like it's using some kind of inferior engine that MW3 will have head and shoulders above. All of the Call of Duty games these days just use modified versions of the CoD4 engine. The reason it looked like ass is because you had been maxing the games and then you had to play Blops on medium. That doesn't mean it was an inferior engine, or that MW3 will be better, it means it was a shitty PC port.
What? IRL there are different models of trijicons acogs, its just that cod4 made the red chvron with bdc famous.
The red chevron ACOG sight is the most commonly used one, especially in the US Armed Forces. I'm glad they're going back to it because, well, that's the type of ACOG you'd probably see on the battlefield.
I seriously don't understand this series community. Why, just because I like to use the AUG and FAL, am I a "tryhard"?
I seriously don't understand this series community. Why, just because I like to use the AUG and FAL, am I a "tryhard"?
I'd congratulate someone using the FAL if this is MW2, it's fucking hell to fight people in close quarters with compared to almost every other weapon, and takes some aiming to use. I don't know about the Black Ops guns at all, or if there is even a FAL :v:
I really hope that the hitregistration will be atleast improved on some m/s timewise since sometimes it's just that you shoot and die nearly a half second after that and the killcam shows that you don't even shot.
I think I wait for a sale on MW3, gonna play BF3 then Skyrim and then MW3 even if I want to be there at the start because that's the best part of a multiplayer game like that in my opinion! To be there at the start with everyone else not knowing anything. But I'm gonna get that feeling with BF3
The Olympia is such a beast in Black ops, Stakeout is amazing too but the 2nd shot you have with the Olympia is important for those cat jumps on the enemys. It also sprays alot which is a good thing for quick actions/shootings.
Call of duty is just one of those games where you have a fucking blast playing it for about a week and then after that you don't even want to look at the game.

Yeah man who even plays Call of Duty for more than a week.
Oh right just about everyone who's bought a Call of Duty game.
It's repetitive gameplay just makes it a terrible game.
It's repetitive gameplay just makes it a terrible game.
All you do in Mass Effect is run down corridors shooting people, and then going into dialogue where you have a good guy choice, a bad guy choice, or a neutral choice. Repetitive.
All you do in Battlefield is run around and capture flags/blow up MCOM stations and shoot people. Repetitive.
All you do in Half Life is run around and shoot aliens/combine and solve puzzles. Repetitive.
Every game is repetitive. They all have a gameplay style and they follow it. Call of Duty is an arcade shooter, and it's a damn good one. I still play MW2 to this day and it's almost been two years since it came out. Hell, people still play Call of Duty 4 and it's been like four years since that came out. Obviously it isn't a repetitive/terrible game, otherwise people wouldn't play it anymore.
Does anyone who preordered MW3 have an extra copy of Modern Warfare? I have no call of duty games on steam and I've been itching to play one, that'd be great!
Sadly I have nothing to offer in return other than my humble appreciation.
