People here don't seem to understand that plants won't grow once you get so deep underground.

Maybe Aperture did experiments on how long a plant could last underground when provided only artificial light and a dead body.
EDIT:
Uh....

Say this to Valve

But do we really know if we're that far underground? We didn't even see many plants in the [sp]Old Aperture[/sp] so maybe we were close enough to the surface?
Uhh, I want to map but I'm out of ideas.
Uhh, I want to map but I'm out of ideas.
You mean puzzle ideas or design ideas?
Puzzle ideas
1.Watch some Portal 2 E3 Demo
2.Mix them up
3.DONE!
Puzzle ideas
Try make like me. Design first, than *possibly* you will get some ideas

I'll try to draw it out and stuff. It should take a week or so if I stop procrastinating.

Finally, it's ok to be an ideas guy :v:

The chambers with plants are all close enough to the surface.

Yeah, how else would GLaDOS see a deer?

I made this for the 30 minute hammer trial in the Mapping Section http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1097203-Hammer-CHALLENGE-30-Minute-trial/ I used the portal 2 engine so I guess it's relevant here.

Here's the video description to save you from opening a new tab
I did this for The Facepunch 30 minute mapping trial.
You can download it here: http://www.voterocket.net/portal/30secondtest.bsp
I mapped for 30 minutes straight without music or any distractions and I came up with this - it's supposed to be a hallway, but I used a bit of artistic licence - I guess PART of it is a hallway?
I used my private style guide for the ambient lighting entities and I used a background instance for that behind the scenes block really far in the background (not the one that scrolls past) but apart from that I created everything myself in the 30 minutes! I added the music in post production - it's not actually in the map.
Now it's time for a cold drink and a bit of a lie down!
I have an idea for a coop map... well, it's more of a "competition" rather than cooperative...
Where can I find some basic guides on making portal 2 maps? I just started fooling around with hammer and so far the best I can do is make a box with a light, and sometimes a door and a cube if I'm really feeling creative. I'd really like to figure out better ways to make more complex textures on surfaces or even better how to make moving panels.
[editline]13th June 2011[/editline]
I tried looking at sp_a3_speed_ramp (since there was a vmf for it already there) but I'm simply overwhelmed looking at it.

The courses from the TV show Wipeout would also work pretty well for something like that, if they were changed to be more portaly puzzles than platformery puzzles.
The idea isn't to steal the Eliminator entirely, but to have such a course for MP.
First to the end wins, the other suffers a fate worse than "disassemble Johnny Five".
Even better, do you have a website where you upload your work?
Here if you interested http://www.moddb.com/mods/portal-2-forgotten-memories

Is it possible to link an Entity to another Entity so if one moves the other follows it's lead?
Just thinking it would be clever if the security cameras that followed you transmitted to the vertical monitors.
If the cameras (the entity not the npc) have a set_parentattachment output you can.
