happy explosion day gorgeous
That's a very sadistic thing to say to someone you just fired a rocket at.
I'd make it use Rick's lines, but most are longer than 2 seconds so wouldn't really work :-(
I would like to know how they work.
I don't know how they work either, but the switch is a solid entity, if you're right next to it as far as you can go and use the switch it won't go down all the way until you move.
I know I've asked about this before but I really need help on this and waiting a week for a single post from Steam Support for every reply I give them is becoming unbearable. My Portal 2 SDK won't launch, update, or uninstall itself. I can't uninstall Portal 2 to fix it, because I can't uninstall the SDK. What I have tried: * Verify game cache on Portal 2 SDK * Verify game cache on Portal 2 * Repair Steam via installer * Restart Steam (multiple times) * Restart my computer (multiple times) * Check I'm connected to the internet (I am - everything on my computer works fine except Portal 2 SDK) Please tell me there's a fix for this other then just waiting or reinstalling Steam entirely. I don't wanna have to reinstall 90GB worth of games just to fix this one little program.
Anyone know whats up with this? My Panels aren't getting affected by lighting, also this is a func_instance. http://imgur.com/a/UTosY
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15663815/Rocket_Turret.rar Legit Rocket Turrets done (mostly, some not really serious issues I have to fix) Read the ReadMePlease file for how to set them up.

Do you think it'd be worth some sort of tutorial on the wikis?
I figured out how they work. Do you think it'd be worth some sort of tutorial on the wikis?
sure, as long as it's not as simple as two animated models or something
Anyone here use/create VScripts for their maps?
Is it possible to create like 20 different puzzles in one map, using the panels to change each puzzle mechanic?
I figured out how they work. Do you think it'd be worth some sort of tutorial on the wikis?
was this it?
use the models circuit_breaker_box and circuit_breaker_leaver, then parent the leaver prop to a nodrawed func_rot_button brush entity

Is it possible to create like 20 different puzzles in one map, using the panels to change each puzzle mechanic?
Probably, but it would take quite some planning.
Hello, is there any way to access the Portal 2 particle editor yet? Thanks
Probably, but it would take quite some planning.
Yeah.. although the scripting could be done really fast if it wasn't so.. primitive
Which entity/model is that eye following you?
Which entity/model is that eye following you?
What eye do you mean? The cameras that look at you in the test chambers?
Anyone here use/create VScripts for their maps?
I dabbled in it. The scripting is kinda limited though. What are you trying to do exactly?
What eye do you mean? The cameras that look at you in the test chambers?
Yeah that eye, which you sometimes can shoot/pick down :) I also wonder how to cut in the indicator/info_overlays, I mean its hard to time with 4 in each.
Yeah that eye, which you sometimes can shoot/pick down :) I also wonder how to cut in the indicator/info_overlays, I mean its hard to time with 4 in each.
For the cameras, there is a camera npc that I've forgotten the name of. As for indicator lights, change the U end to the amount of lights you want (times by 4 for the number), and then stretch the overlay till it fits.

Such things that are easy to do but I would never figure it out by my own in a short period of time - thanks!
What do I have to do to prevent the textures for the ceiling and floor to be stretched to hell and back? Also, Aereal Faith Plates are a bitch to make.
Is it possible to create like 20 different puzzles in one map, using the panels to change each puzzle mechanic?
You could do this, but it would require some very good forward thinking to pull off. If you CAN do this, I'd be willing to bet that Valve would take notice. Also, it would likely involve the creation of some new models for the panels; the ones in P2 are awesome, but limited in regards to their range. You can't raise a floor up or down more than 144 units with the panels, for example. You could use P1 style piston-driven floors (like the stairs in P1 chamber 14) and walls in combination with the P2 panels, I guess, though. If you're skilled, and you're determined, I think it could be done, and done well. For maximum effect, change the room(s) as much as possible between puzzles. Watching the panels move and reconfigure is eye-candy to me, and I honestly would love to see a single room morph into several puzzles while I played.

I want to make a map that also involves a terrible test conductor, he runs out of tests, so he brings up an old Portal 1 chamber, smashes the old blocky elevators out of the way, then eventually pulls an enrichment sphere up to test in that.
Good luck with that, sounds like one hell of a lot of work
key word being want there's no way in hell that's getting done in a timely manner, if at all
Gotta love the creative sides from people in here, keep it coming! I'm making my first map right now, where 50% of the stuff is broken and cause a lot of trouble while solving the puzzle :). I still got so much to learn since I started mapping this week, right now I'm trying to figure out a smarter way to put portal-able textures on my walls, I've been using carve so far (which blows) - any helpful input is appreciated! Edit: Also does anyone know how vgui_movie_display SetMovie works? Mine simply doesn't change movie, it continues playing the preselected one.
There should a broken test chamber with a puzzle within the main puzzle, where you have to figure out how to fix parts of the chamber so that the puzzle pieces all line up with each other to allow you to finish the actual puzzle :v:

Regarding puzzles of puzzles and rearrangement, this looks fun:
