Just played a game where it took pudge 30 minutes to buy the normal boots. He bought bottle, wand, and nothing else and just kept dying whenever he was about to have enough money. He never ganked once either..I don't even know anymore.

Apparently people have been randoming unreleased heroes.

It breaks the game though.

It seems possible. The update said "enabled" invoker, not added, so the other heroes are probably just disabled from selection.
don't worry invoker's choice of skills was bigger before icefrog decided to remove about 9 spells.
I think it was what, 34 before?
I think it was what, 34 before?
28

27, position of elements mattered (QWE and QEW for example gave different skills)
ha, i remember back when he was released in dota my friend who was playing it back then was all like "IT'S FUKCING CRAZY"
Maybe they add the missing spells later or something?
Like how they disabled Tiny's tree because of animations

I think having a guy with 27 spells, all scalling off 3 base element-skills and giving him only 2 spells avalible at a time without replacing one with a different one was :
1. Too much compared to other guys
2. Too hard to balance properly
3. Too exploitable. (You like Tornade + EMP? Well imagine 12 more of comboes like that)
Sometimes balancing a normal hero can be problem, and they usually have 4 abilities, sometimes +2 or variety of that.
Invoker has 3 manageable passives, 10 skills he can cook and 2 of them can be "pre-cooked".
I know Dota is the game for having very difficult heroes which take ages to master and do pay off, but 27 vs 4 is just overwhelming, both in terms of design AND gameplay value.

I'd rather Icefrog left him with those 10 spells, which is a lot both in terms of quantity and fun, and used 17 other ones for new heroes.
I find Invoker a very interesting hero with only 10 spells, there's a great deal of variety, but I think near on 30 spells would be far too excessive. What were the other spells anyway?
Unrelated:
This was my first game as Invoker:

What items are usually built? I just went with recommended for my first, and I scaled all elements equally because I didn't want to focus on one school of spells.

Trying to find them atm, all I have for now is this :
QQQ = Icy Path
QQW = Portal
QQE = Frost Nova
QWQ = Betrayal
QWW = Tornado Blast
QWE = Levitation
QEQ = Power Word
QEW = Invisibility Aura
QEE = Shroud of Flames
WQQ = Mana Burn
WQW = EMP
WQE = Soul Blast
WWQ = Telelightning
WWW = Shock
WWE = Arcane Acts
WEQ = Scout
WEW = Energy Ball
WEE = Lightning Shield
EQQ = Chaos Meteor
EQW = Confuse
EQE = Disarm
EWQ = Soul Reaver
EWW = Firestorm
EWE = Incinerate
EEQ = Deafening Blast
EEW = Inferno
EEE = Firebolt
Clockwerk + Lich is a scary lane
or clockwerk + any guy with a long early stun
3 Invokers fought already, all went "Wex max first, Tornade + EMP".
I know it's effective, but hell if it's not as annoying as "Cheese" in SC II .
I really hope they let us make our own heroes. It's what made DotA in the first place.
How brilliant would that be?

The thing with DR is that it's a damn good carry and very powerful.
Only thing is because all you're really doing is autoattacking its not terrifically fun to play.

That said though being able to kite & drop in and out with demon edge is pretty exciting too.
There's nothing more fun than using shadow blade to surprise a solo hero and wipe them out just when they realize they're being hit.

Viper and Drow are both the same way. I love killing the people as they try to run away.
Its even better with Viper as his poison will sometimes finish them off.

Yeah, I was actually talking to lionheart about that recently since I main Drow and he Viper.
They're both also excellent mid heros, and virtually unstoppable late game.
Drow vs Silencer mid.
Fuck it hurts. Unless you get shitton of regen or use Drow's silence every time he casts Curse you are pushed back and in danger of being haste-ganked.

Just wait till you try out Viper vs him.

Do orbs not cancel curse?
Do orbs not cancel curse?
You wish.
They also fixed in last patch Morphling cheating his way out of Curse with Morph.

This happens to a lot of heroes
You can't use your hook early and your rot doesn't cancel it, for example
silencer basically rapes pudge mid

But you still can stop curse with Spectre's Reality, why is it even usable when her ulti isn't active
But you still can stop curse with Spectre's Reality, why is it even usable when her ulti isn't active
Did you report that at Dev Dota2 ?
imo silencer's curse doesnt deal that much damage early on, but the mana drain + the spammability of it quickly take their toll

I don't really understand why that's not like Lifestealer's ult, in so far as it can only be used while the ult is in use.
