I'm completely ok with newbies(of all nationalities) as long as they listen and are willing to help the team, I'm patient with them and stuff but when they act like dicks and cant play for shit I just snap.

So you snap every time you turn on the internet ?
[editline]6th January 2012[/editline]
There are people humble and willing to learn, but some just are stuck on "You play games for your own entertainment" kind of thing.
Some games are team-based , which means that combined effort = results. If someone feels like being a dick or can't take shit from anyone without bursting with obscenities, veil of internet means they can.
Multiplayer games are like communism. If everyone agreed to play nice, it would work perfectly.
I have quite a nice amount of luck, I rarely find idiotic players.
Edit;
To be honest, 90% of the DOTA players want to win, and most will suck up to team-work just to win(with the right ammount of persuasion), even if it means they have to do something they dont like just to achieve the final outcome that is winning. And we all fucking love to win in DOTA.
Blink Dagger or Shadow Blade, Vladimir, BKB or Linken's Sphere, Phase Boots, Tarrasque is the nice items with Ursa.
Also Ursa is clearly a pubstomper.
ahahahahahah
You could say that same argument vs almost any hero duh
Nope.
I'm new to playing, literally. Was always interested in the first one, but could never find a copy of WC3. So, just recently, I found a beta key. Started playing against bots to at least learn something about the heroes. Eventually, I started playing Skeleton King, simple Carry for me to understand and learn.
After being told a proper skill build from a friend, I practiced a couple more matches against bots, eventually having my build with Heart of Tarrasque and Armlet, with Helm of the Dominator and Power Treads on the side. Probably not the best build, but someone new like me, it worked.
Went into my first real match, got stomped on the first 15 minutes thanks to being matched against Broodmother and Pugna, then just farmed for a bit. After a few lucky kills and some upgrades, I went to work on getting my build squared up. A few more assists and tower kills later, I got my full build. Eventually went 11/4/8 (best on the server), and maxed out at 25.
Just played my second match earlier. Couldn't farm properly (Anti-Mage/Dazzle combo screwed our bottom a bit), no one was covering bottom at all, we had a player complain of high lag and just sat in spawn, then the other team started group killing like crazy. I eventually got called out for "feeding" because while my attempts at try to hold back creeps from attack our last middle tower were an act of desperation in my eyes, it eventually just got me killed.
At the moment, I'm trying to learn Alchemist while trying to improve as Skeleton King. I'm new to all of this, so I'm expecting criticism, but I'm also hoping for some pointers/tips, whatever.
Alchemist is a high skill cap hero because of goblin's greed. He needs to get last hits and he suffers when he misses them. You put one level in greed and then max your stun before getting your poison because leveling greed only increases the base gold, which is useless when you're getting every last hit in a lane. The stun is safe to use only when chasing heroes because smart players will turn around and stun you on those last 3 or so seconds of your channel time. The dot is a good farming mechanic and can be used to lock down a large area in the teamfight. Your ultimate provides enough regeneration that you should pretty much use it every time the cooldown is up, unless anticipating a fight in which case you use it during the fight.
Alchemist can rush a really fast radiance which he needs since he doesn't have any actual carrying skills other than his ult. He wins by destroying his enemies in farm and using his low base attack timer in ult to kill his foes. He benefits more from attack speed than any other hero in the game. Build him with assault curraise to make up for his low armor and give him more attack speed. Possibly a mjolnir, though that's a large risk.
Skeleton king on the other hand suffers from the fact that he needs a team to be effective. He has no defensive mechanism and his stun is only a short period lockdown on one person. He needs allies that can disable so he can stand in one spot and wail away on an enemy as he hopes beyond all logic that he gets 10 crits in a row, because his critical strike is the only thing that allows him to actually carry. He lives twice, but you need to beware of enemies with a diffusal.
Build him like your typical strength carry with an armlet and bkb. He has passive lifesteal so the armlet can get refunded as long as you're getting crits off. The crit percentage is so low that it's not really worth giving him attack speed, you just have to hope you're lucky.
Play him aggressively until your first death. He has fairly good strength and armor gains so he is fairly hardy especially when he first hits 6. After you die you need to be wary, since skeleton king is pretty easy to disable. Focus on positioning and figuring out where to stand to avoid most of your enemy's aoe disables, because like I said before you want to stand in one spot and beat on your enemies until they notice you or are dead.
Hope that helped.

Add me on steam. melonmonkey or melonmonkey98. I'm bored right now.
Is there a facepunch DOTA2 group I could join?
Got a chinese nickname on DOTA 2, for fun.
Launching a pub, i'm alone. Suddenly i fall vs a premade of 4 russians ( great matchmaking system right there ) they instantantly " LOL CHINK CHINK " " LOL CHINESE FAG LOL I KILLD YU " the entire fucking game.
Well, this is probably the worst fucking game to play alone. The community is fucking disgusting, the russians are fucking everywhere ( in fact there's only them on EU servers ) and the matchmaking is awful.
Plain great. I'm already bored.

Leave then. If you're going to be like that, we don't want you.
I just want them to seperate the europeans and russians into two different groups.
It's like I am the only one that doesn't get so many russians, and most of them are good if I get some.
Ah, I feel bad for you guys in EU. I've only gotten one Russian enemy Bloodseeker, and he said "beware russian dota!" or something along the lines. As in, stay away from Russian players, or you better not hope that a Russian is on the enemy team.
You know what? I've never understood this entitlement complex of new players.
Let me help you understand something, newbies: We fucking hate you. You come into our games because the matchmaking system works like that. You then pick a hero you can't play, make stupid decisions, and get mad at us when we tell you how wrong you are. You draw the wrong conclusions based on information you're presented, but because you drew the conclusions you think you're right because your amazingly intelligent brain analyzed the problem and discovered a quasi solution.
You play like a retard, and literally every move you make shows good players how bad you are. Dota is a game of refinement. You can fuck up literally every possible action you can engage in, no matter how small, and somehow succeed in doing so in most cases despite that being statistically unlikely.
Yes, this game has an awful community. It's because this game isn't about you. We shouldn't have to accomodate troglodytes like you new players on a regular basis, but we do and we have to put up with it.
We are not entitled to provide you with help. Most of us were not provided with help, we put up with the community and stuck with it until we figured out how fucking bad we were and got better. I now understand how fucking terrible I am at this game, and I play with people who were MMRing 1900 in heroes of newerth. There is such a huge difference between the way a new player plays and how an experienced player plays that a good player thinks you're fucking retarded. It's just as much of a difference as starcraft, but it takes much longer to be able to tell the difference.
In short, stop whining about the community and take a look at how fucking bad you are. If you haven't played at least 500 games of dota or a dota like game, you're not even worth talking to but some of us do anyway.
really?
really?
Too many people care about how they are playing, and not how the team is. A lot of new players don't understand the team concept in Dota and that's what gets on my nerves. Rarely when I am a carry do I see a ganker underfarming because I'm stronger with the advantage, or a support denying.
It sucks. Put your underwear back on, forgive, forget, move to the next game. Don't get anal raped because one person drags the whole team down (Unless you are a pre-made).
Well said though I say.

This, mostly. But because dota is a team game, if you don't mesh with the people you're playing with your potential is limited by a disgusting amount. Playing with 4 other people who can understand what you do when you're doing it is like having 4 other characters mentally linked to you.

You're truely disgusting. Also you're writing an insane amount of shit, let me explain why :
When i was talking about the " community " i was not talking about the horrible neckbeards like you, playing DOTA over the past 25 years and shitting on newcomers. No. I was talking about the actual community, the one that, other than simply shouting at you because " OH GOD HE GOT A SHADOW BLADE ON URSA, BURN HIM ", breaks your fucking game, even if you're doing decent.
I'm talking about the insanely amount of leavers, trolls and russians on this BETA. Well you can regroup these three words in " russians " anyway. You can be the most awesome player on the planet, when your team communication and synergy is summarized by " сын суки " " xaxaxaxaxa " большой дерьмовой английски " you're basically screwed and left in a powerless situation.
I'm not asking for help or random accomodation at all. There's a ton of guides and videos on the net if i need advices. I'm just asking for a decent, just a fucking decent, experience. I don't care being stomped by better players, but i care a shitton being totally powerless because of 0 communication and being ejected of any form of fun or personal amelioration because of the lack of the most basic form of communication ( and hell i'm trying to talk with them ) and playing in 3v5.
And sadly, things won't change until Valve decide to regroup people by language and fix the fucking matchmaking. And yeah, that's clearly a major problem.

What's too bad? I'm just amused that you're yelling at me for something completely irrelevant.
Please both of you shut the fuck up and enjoy the game.
Also if you want to see a pretty new player (me) with a terrible french accent all over dem english words (me) streaming tomorrow, then I'll post the link. :v:

French accents are cool.
this thread is full of angry
stop the mad yo
also this game is pretty silly without friends on your team
fukken love pudge
So I played a game against "Jim Carry" and "Natalie supPortman". Unfortunately their roles were swapped as Jim was playing Dazzle and Natalie was Lifestealer. Regardless I ended up stomping their faces as Bounty Hunter because the rest of their team was terrible.

Always play with one friend, I always lane with him.
Exceptions to that is when either of us go mid, then we still try to seclude ourselves with either Jungle or solo lane.

Article about sexual harassment in the DOTA 2 beta.
Thought it was pretty good, personally. Sexual harassment has always been a big problem in video games. The last thing you need in a game of DOTA is someone being a sexist asshole and ruining the experience/concentration of a whole team.
I'd rather see people who rip on new players just for being bad be taken care of first. I've seen way too many of those and it really makes the game hard to get into for the new guys.
