Wouldn't it fit better if gold members were Terminators?
I still think chapter veterans are a better choice, just seems more logical to me.Terminators don't continuously use their suits, they switch back to normal power armor from time to time.
Except, you know, it's Orange.
true, just had a better look, maybe mechrite red?
that said we still have no idea what colours we'll actually have access to and whether or not we'll have any kind of light/dark slider.
I still think chapter veterans are a better choice, just seems more logical to me.Terminators don't continuously use their suits, they switch back to normal power armor from time to time.
Actually they only rarely use Power Armour.
Yeah, but they're not ALL TERMINATOR ALL THE TIME
Why wouldn't they be? They'd probably do it out of neccesity, I can't imagine that you just jump into terminator armour. In the Space marine codex is an awesome image of a guy getting fitted for Terminator Armour.
Well having terminator armor is an honor in itself isn't it? a space marine earns "terminator honors" in a few books and i can't imagine why you'd want to use anything less than some of the Imperium's very best armor when going into battle, unless the operation specifically calls for being fast and mobile.
Speaking of Mechrite Red, I'm painting a space hulk Blood Angels Terminator and using Mechrite Red, for a more dark look.
God I love the detail on these models, they are so fucking awesome.
speaking of painting, any advice for doing super fine detail? i've got the brush for it but when i'm trying to do tyranid's teeth it just ends up as a smear of colour
also what's "feathering" as a painting technique?
Do each tooth at a time, then use a wash (Devlan Mud, Talent in a Bottle)
Feathering is a way of blending, just google warhammer 40k blending for tons of tutorials.
DEVLAN 'FUCK YEAH' MUD
forgive me i'm still a newbie painter but wouldn't painting each tooth then washing them just overwrite the color no matter how thinned? would it not be better to wash then do the teeth?
A wash is just water with a bit of pigment, it will form itself in the crevices. If you wash first then paint, you will paint over the wash.
The wash also makes the colors a bit more dull so your figure doesn't look like Play-Doh
[editline]14th August 2011[/editline]
And it adds shadows ofcourse.

The wash is just for shading and add Depth, you then go back over it, in your original colour, leaving the wash visible in the crevices.
and by Wash I mean GW range of washes.

The Blood Angels Terminator's Stormbolter arm, only really done the winged skull. Astronominican Grey, Badab Black, Astronominican Grey back over it. The right side shows it off better.

I think you did a good job with the details, but his feet seem a bit more forward than the rest of his body, and he's not really standing on anything.
[thumb]http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/2928/imag0047pu.jpg[/thumb]
Well here's my current paint job, the one on the left is my first model that GW gave me on one of their new players nights and the right is my 7th hormaguant painted, I'm quite happy with the progress I've made across the models. though you've somewhat put me off my choice of paint job when you said mass white looks fugly, i made it in retribution first and that's what Ive ended up with, it's what i've been going by, for reference:
[thumb]http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/3826/nidreferance.png[/thumb]
i've been using a wash everywhere first then painting the skin white then the rest, is that the correct way to do things? i know i need to improve the carapace paintwork a bit more.

Yeah someone on the creative artwork thread already pointed it out, thanks anyway. I'll focus more next time.

I made a thing.

How about this?
Shit, i failed the trim, i forgot that i should had made it blue.
This would look good enough for me. Also we can discuss this better when the game arrives and we see the actual customization.
I think Body armor should still reflect facepunchers' position (Ultramarine blue for regular, Green for mod, and orage brown for Gold member, not to forget bright red for banned users), while the pauldrons represent Facepunch (red trim and white pauldrons)
We would look like clown army then.
Mods get a purity seal with the facepunch logo stamped on the wax.
Banned users get their power armor stripped from them and then are sent to the local IG.
They would be in Penal Legion.
I still think that FP IG would work best. Hell, we could have Penal Legions of Bullshit, Mechanicus support of Hardware and Software, Hobby Auxiliaries, and of course Main Facepunch Forces.
I am no Guardsman.
That is clearly not a guardsman.

Paint the skin white, give it a wash of Devlan Mud, then go back over it (or don't go back over it if you want to keep its dirty look.
Man I need to find a place tht sells these figurines, painting them sounds so much fun.
Dawn of War is the RTS franchise. Space Marine is not part of that.
And I believe there were actually old 40k games that had live action cut scenes (could be wrong about that though)
I know Space Marine isn't part of that.
He edited the post when i was going to reply, and i didn't notice the changes he made while writing my reply.

Well, i suppose Chapter Veterans are a good choice, but you know, the Chapter Veteran is in power armor, the Terminator is in Tactical Dreadnought armor.
I'm just saying it's easier to distinguish a Terminator among a group of Space Marines.

as obvious as it sounds, look for a game workshop
even toymaster or hobbycraft may have them

I'd love to play third/first person shooter as Imperial Guard but no one makes game of it. Hell we don't know if there is some lone guardsman who is little more skilled/lucky than others, it could be good enough to make game of it.

Dark Millenium is going to have Imperial Guard as a race, so we'll definitely see some third person shooters/first person shooters involving Imperial Guard.

I don't live in England bro, there are no game workshops here.

Fucking YES!
has that been actually confirmed? i know we've seen them in the videos but no proof that there's players controlling them

Depending where you are from the GW website has nice deals on postage to most countries (Flags don't work for me)

So just ring an order up and get started!
has that been actually confirmed? i know we've seen them in the videos but no proof that there's players controlling them
In one of the videos it shows the playable "race" of the Imperium of man, showing 3 "classes" of space marine, IG and Tech Preist. I thought that pretty much confirmed it as it shows all 3 fighting as though player controlled.
I'm trying to paint a Dark Angels successor chapter. Right now, I'm aiming at a darker shade of green, and I have the perfect color to use. However, since it is not actually a GW paint, the texture is very odd, and I'd like to try and find some type of way to get the physical smoothness of Dark Angels Green while having a darker swampier color.
The paints I'm using are Vajello Game Color Scaly Green, and I have a bottle of Jade Green for drybrushing.
