Lore Question: Does the Imperium of Man actually contain citizens that live normal lives and with normal jobs, or is the whole empire just a big war machine?
I was wondering this after hearing someone say "The Emperor Proctects"
I believe there are "normal" citizens, actually.
Seeing as in a Horus Heresy book (the one about the assassin group, can't remember the name) towns and such are described with that feeling.

The Imperium does contain citizens that have jobs and lives.
The Imperium wouldn't really get far if everybody from the Imperium would be in the Imperial Guard.

Perhaps you're referring to the Vindicare?
Most worlds are either dedicated purely to growing food/providing water to other planets (agricultural worlds), providing tools of destruction to the endless struggle (forge worlds) or giving the guard fresh bodies for the slaughter (hive worlds) but there are in fact worlds in the imperial system that are like our own earth.
Thats rather Simplyfying it a bit, thre's also mining worlds, death worlds, Religious Worlds, Fortress Worlds, Knight Worlds and a few others.

Yeah ofcourse, I was thinking of making a list about the various worlds but I decided that it would just be easier to make it short. =)

It wasen't directly called Vindicare, but the Vindicare, Eversor, Callidus and Culexus houses and their representative strike force.
You mean Nemesis, right? I thinkthat's the one.
Yeah, that's the one. I need to buy it, it was a amazing read.

Hey, I'm looking to try some of these games, maybe one or two. What would the forums choice be in terms of best? I haven't looked at what the options are really but I'm curious as to how the community views them. Deal weekend, you know?
Anything but Soulstorm
Soulstorm wasn't...that bad. The flying units sucked, the Campaign was lacklustre, but the Dark Eldar are pretty cool, don't play as the Sisters of Battle.

The voice acting is worse then the room and men of war put together.

Even Relic take the piss out of Soulstorm and indirectly admit it was terrible.

Dawn of War 2 is the best imo. Not the expansions.
Chaos rising and Dark Crusade

That they do. But I like Dark Eldar :frown:
Without soulstorm we wouldn't have this little gem though

For the Mothaland!
The only books i have so far i got REALLY cheap (under half price) in a Black Library sale a few years ago (other than the 4 i got today for £1 each).
books
No idea what's came out in the past few years that's worth getting, although the Horus Heresy series looks interesting.
the only ones that i can immediately pick out that you don't have are the Gaunt's ghost books. The first 5 or so Horus heresy books are worth a read, they are the ones that involve Horus himself and the other primarchs the most.
other than that its just filling in the gaps between the various books you've already got if you want the story arc. Pretty much anything by Dan Abnett and somebody here will recommend it to you.

on a completely different subject, i have no idea if the threads lock any more but can V2 of this be FOR THE DARK GODS
V2 of this thread will be "For Sigmar!"
V2 should be Thrones for the throne skull.
Or a "classic"

People like to overblow just how shit 40k is, the vast majority of citizens live relatively decent lives.
