Replaying Dawn of war 2 to bleach Retribution's campaign from my mind. Can't help but feel bad for the Eldar. "no, space marines the tyranids shoot the tyranids you dumbasses. no dont shoot me shoot the tyranids. oh my god space marines the tyranids shoot them jesus dicks"
Retribution's campaign was fine IMO. Dawn of War 2's had its fair share of corny moments. "NO, TYRANIDS" "Rant all you want Eldar, we stand, and you have fallen." *everyone dies a little*
Wait a minute.... Space Marine won't have a Powerfist? HERESY
Lightning claws would have been cool
Lightning claws would have been cool
I would think them to be a bit overpowered. Maybe an area or two with them would suffice.
I'm not incredibly familiar with the lore of W40K, but why do the orcs use English slang and use Steam punk like technology if they evolved completely separate from humans?
I imagine the orks speak english because it'd make life difficult if you were playing Retribution and they were speaking like Sims.
I'm not incredibly familiar with the lore of W40K, but why do the orcs use English slang and use Steam punk like technology if they evolved completely separate from humans?
Their technology is just bits of scrap stuck together hoping it will work. In most cases it shouldn't work, but it does because if enough of them believe it will work, it does. As for the English thing (Although it would be Gothic) Orks learn extremely fast/don't need to learn stuff. Orks didn't evolve seperatly though, they were created to fight.
I think Orks have their technology genetically programmed into them or something.
I'm not incredibly familiar with the lore of W40K, but why do the orcs use English slang and use Steam punk like technology if they evolved completely separate from humans?
Orks use Low-Gothic (English) for the purposes of us understanding them. Their native language consists of grunts, bellows, roars and blows to the head. Their technology is ramshackle because it works. It shouldn't work, no other species could make the technology they do and have it work, it works because the Orks want it to.
I think the orks can speak low-gothic just because they think the enemies understand them, just like their technology works.
Space Marine is the first Warhammer 40k game I've ever played, does anyone have any tips on how I can get into Warhammer? Know the lore, characters, etc. Also Space Marine was lots of fun, I barely used the guns.

Anyway, it depends if you would be interested in TableTop as that is what is the 'real' W40K whereas everything else is just part of the universe.

Without the Backgroun and lore, it'd just be an alright tabletop skirmish game. The lore and background make 40K what it is.
Atually, the background lore is more really the real warhammer 40K. The Fluff is part of TableTop really (As it mostly comes from Codexes, White dwarf etc and novels)
[sp]tabletop isn't canon[/sp]
Also tabletop is expensive. And I like the lore of it, but playing the tabletop isn't something I want to do. Which is why I like the Dawn of war games.
Yeah. I was looking for some Warhammer packs and they were really expensive.
WH40k pen-and-paper RPGs also kick ass.
[sp]tabletop isn't canon[/sp]
Yes. It is. Codexes, rulebooks, white dwarf articles etc are canon.
Wow just downloaded the demo and BAM it works just fine at smooth 20-30fps. It shouldn't work, but it does. Now where's my wallet again.... Oh it was great.

It runs smotthly at a lower resolution and no Vsync. Still gets fps drops when I execute someone (regardless of slo mo). I need to get a new graphhics card, any suggestions? Yeah there was some weird sound stuttering. Like Usharn said.
Yes but without TableTop there wouldn't be any of it. The Fluff is part of TableTop really (As it mostly comes from Codexes, White dwarf etc and novels)
And without the Fluff it probably wouldn't have lasted 20 odd years.
Yeah there was some weird sound stuttering. Like Usharn said.
I didn't get any stuttering
Oh kewl a whole megathread dedicated to Warhammer 40k LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR.
It's probably something with your sound driver.
Nope, i updated it - and it happens only in that demo, so it's a engine/demo build problem.
Yes. It is. Codexes, rulebooks, white dwarf articles etc are canon.
I think he meant that tabletop weapon stats etc aren't indicative of canon
Oh kewl a whole megathread dedicated to Warhammer 40k LONG LIVE THE EMPEROR.
You're late by over a hundred pages.
Hmm, can i renew my Citadel paints somehow by adding some water or sth? Would it be safe?
I think he meant that tabletop weapon stats etc aren't indicative of canon
Obviously the stats aren't but the fluff is.
