Anyone else read the horus heresy books? I love them.
Everyone remembers Red Orchestra 40,000 mod for Red Orchestra 2 right? The one which has Imperial Guard versus Orks. I was thinking yesterday after I played Red Orchestra 2, what if it would be Imperium versus Chaos/Heretics.
Imperium would be mainly Imperial Guards/PDF (Cadians, Mordians, Praetorians, Valhallans, Kriegs etc. depending on map) and limited amount of space marines which would be either obtainable only via High Command's recognition or unlocked already, but something that prevents same players always grabbing those Marines.
Chaos/Heretics would be mainly Renegades, Renegade Guards/PDF and, well Heretics, and limited amount of Chaos space marines or them warp monsters. CSM and/or warp monsters would also be only obtainable Chaos Gods (high command) recognition or that unlock/prevent system.
I don't know much about modding but I think the main state of this mod (Heretics vs. Imperial Guard) would be easier to mod than adding those SM's and CSM's with working system that prevents same players always grabbing them or RO40,000's IG vs Orks since it changes the gameplay so much (mainly ork side).

It seems co-op isn't going to campaign but more akin to spec ops in MW2/3.
So I sort of want to get into the Warhammer 40k universe. The wargame is far too expensive for me to take a look, but the pen-and-paper RPG by Fantasy Flight seems interesting. Where should I start? I figured I might grab the Dark Heresy or Deathwatch core rulebook and work from there.
Oh, and is the combat narrative-based? Or grid-based? DnD always frustrated me a bit with its extreme reliance on having a grid... the few times I played with my friends, we spent far more time staring at the board then we did actually role-playing.
Start with Dark Heresy if you're going with the RPGs. The Dark Heresy-Rogue Trader progression is kinda nice.

You've bought the Ultramarines Omnibus and...the IG one? I've not read the latter, the former is good though. Minus the 3rd, but that seems to be a recurring trend with Black Library books.
I'd recommend Storm of Iron, a small novel by Graham McNiel, writer of the Ultramarines omnibus. And the Eisenhorn Omnibus, those books are brilliant. Not just goof 40k books, but good books.

away to the book store!

Helsreach is it's own book but yes :v:
I just realized the marine scouts in Retribution sound like Kennedy quite often
Also why couldn't Retribution be more like the last two games? I get bored after two missions.

I thought Storm of Iron was like super rare and only a handful were sold at game days.
My goodness, can't wait to play this game. Exterminatus everywhere!

Yeh unfortuantly this seems to be a trend with most of the warhammer books.
Some of them are an absolute bitch to pick up, mainly the decent early stuff like last chancers and kal jerico necromunda stuff.
Sometimes the best bet is to trawl ebay etc. and try and snag copies that go up from time to time.
As for recommended books I'd say Storm of Iron, Lord of the night, Necromunda omnibus (Which is an absolute steal, probably one of my favorites) and for an interesting read Brothers of the snake.
Just read dead men walking which was another good read, gives only a smidgin of the background I was hoping for DKOK, which means I have to save up for the other two vraks books I guess.
Yeah, I think he's pretty badass. I'm glad he wasn't the canon traitor from Chaos Rising.
My only issue with Martellus is that I wish he could get twin-linked multilaser turrets like the IG. They're totally so much cooler than heavy bolter turrets. :v:
Well two heavy bolters set together is more effective than two lasguns put together, just saying.
Plus Space Marines don't really use las-technology much, apart from Lascannons, of course.
[editline]2nd September 2011[/editline]
Also, question, the 'metal jaws' you sometimes see on ork Warbosses or such, are they actually bolted to the Ork's real jaws?
Is preloading going to be available for Space Marine? I really hope there will be. But with how close release is I'm starting to doubt it.
When it'd the release again?
I'm almost vomiting in excitement!
Jesus, how did I forget Lord of the Night? Buy that shit man!
bolted to the Ork's real jaws?
Yes.

The 6th in the US
9th in Europe I think. Dunno what Brazil is
6th worldwide.
Could anybody recommend me a book that'll focus on/focus on the background of the Death Korps of Krieg?
They're my favorite Imperial Guard regiment and yet, i don't even know that much about them. :v:
There isen't one, from what I know.
I just picked up Battle for the Abyss and First Heretic, btw. C:

First Heretic is great, Battle forthe Abyss is awful imo possibly one of the worst books in the HH series.
I hate not having a job.
I really want that Blood Raven armor for Space Marine but I don't have any money :I
I just read Legion easily one of my favourite HH books.
i absolutely love the HH series bar the angel related books and the majority of the short stories contained within the books of short stories (age of darkness and tales of heresy), though abnett and aaron bowden need to write more books for them.
and for the person that wanted warhammer images

i had more but imageshack is being stupid and resizing them
Just a quick question on that assault on blackreach. Do the models come pre painted and if so would it be difficult to repaint them? Thanks.

no GW models come painted (as far as i know), but i think the newbie kits like blackreach are easier to assemble than the other (not much, if any, gluing)
Hey guys I made a roleplay character. I'm Inquisitor Takashi Sparklemoon Hakamakakashino, and I'm a space samurai for the emperor. I use my magic flamer to kill haters and people who took my copy of bleach on DVD away (MOM) and I'm the emperors gf but im really really sad about how withered he is and stuff. also all the aliens like me especially the tau and the imperial guard get along with me and i dont have any robot parts because their gross (LOL) and the imperial guard like me and I make everyone stop fighting each other. Also I use a silenced FAMAS with an ACOG scope and a katana that shoots lightning and is made of gold
Suggestions?

Yes, Black Reach models are much easier than if you were to buy a tactical marine squad, but not like either is hard. I think the Black Reach models are 2 or 3 parts plus a base (marines atleast). The Dread is a front and back half, arms, and the base.
