Well Necrons have advanced gauss weapons, they could possibly win against an Imperial Guard army.
However, i'm not sure about the Tau, they may have good weapons and good armor, but all the while Imperial guard are in numbers that are much more than those of the Tau.
The best way for IG to defeat Necrons is to bury them in ordinance, as every Necron warrior is capable of destroying a tank artillery is the safest bet. Tie them down with waves of conscripts.
Tau obviously can win or every single one of their battles would have been a loss so far, they have decent AT weapons but they aren't very numerous. They'll do fine against limited numbers, but once again, waves and waves of conscripts need fully automatic weapons, scary melee types, or flamers. They don't really have much of any of those.

I never knew that the Imperial Guard just bombarded the necrons with artillery until they died.
I guess that's an effective tactic.
Anyway, as for the Tau, don't they have flamers?

They probably have some sort of equivalent. Flame's a bit too simple for the high-and-mighty Tau.
Dont they have flamers in Dark crusade though?

I didn't say it's an official tactic, but it's a tactic they should use as it's the most effective one.
Tau do have flamers, but they don't utilize them nearly as much as the Imperium.

Last I recall, they only really mounted them on their Battlesuits, right?

Crisis suits can use flamers.
My guess is that Jurgen simply didn't live as long as Cain. I think Cain mentions he's about 200 years old in 'For the Emperor' so its probably just that Jurgen died from old age at some point.
I hate the idea of Jurgan being dead. That guy was the ultimate badass. I mean, he survived getting shot point blank in the head with a bolt pistol, his weapon of choice is a MELTA GUN, Tyranids and Necrons fear him...

I like to imagine the fear most things, including the universe they're building.
They just have no way of expressing it.
so you can become an inquisitor, a roaming bringer of death and self righteous fury, who's job is to root out heresy and impurity, and still be okay with the idea of casual sex
Aren't there like, rules against that? I mean I get that there are inquisitors that don't follow the rules and all, but usually they're crazy maniacal assholes, right?
I don't know, I just don't get why 40K of all things has to fall into a nerdy sexual fantasy stereotype.
And for clarification, I wasn't talking about the enginseer's servo harness, I mean the machine interface thing. The cyber mantle, I think it's called.
Other Techpriest yes, though as I said, I think she got booted out early on.
Since when does an inquisitor have to be celibate? Hell, not even every single arm of the SoB's are celibate. So no, theres no official rules, of course theres a difference between boning a freaking Hero of the Imperium and doing a heretic.
Nerdy Sexual fantasy Stereotype? Daemonettes, or Sisters of Battle.
So, wait, I'm doin' some reading, and it seems that basically everyone who's notable is a few centuries old. How the Hell does that work?
Generally a longer lifespan amongst humans, combined with treatments to retain your youth and vitality for longer, and augmetics.
Dreadnoughts can be centuries or millennia old, right?
I know the oldest Dreadnought is part of the Space Wolves.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Bjorn_the_Fell-Handed
He fought along side Leman Russ during the Horus Heresy. I'm not sure how old that makes him in years but its pretty old.
So I take it that technically Dreadnoughts can live indefinetly so long as they aren't killed in battle.
Dreadnoughts can be centuries or millennia old, right?
At this rate I'm pretty sure everything in 40K can be centuries old.
Genestealers can actually rip a marine out of power/terminator armor?
Genestealers can rip holes in Greater Demons, much less Terminators. As stated, that's pretty much what they do.
Love the ork stormboyz's quotes:
First to fight wins!
What are you waiting for.. This is taking for ever

They can win against an IG force. They cannot win against an IG army.

It's all in the name. GENEstealers as in they're strong enough to be able to tear out a geneseed.
I know about those, but I'd just figured in a universe where literally everything is out to kill you and skull-fuck your corpse people would die more often.
Your common Guardsman or civilian isn't subject to any of those augments so plenty of them die every day.
Not to mention they sacrifice thousands of Psykers regularly to keep the Emperor alive.

I just don't get why sex in fiction is seen as "nerdy sexual fantasy".
People fuck all the time and it's completely normal, doubt that will ever change.

Those notable people are suually surrounded by comra--...er..meatshields.
It's all in the name. GENEstealers as in they're strong enough to be able to tear out a geneseed.
Bit more to it than that actually, they infiltrate via genetics.
Other Techpriest yes, though as I said, I think she got booted out early on.

Here's the thing, if Sisters of Battle were portrayed as bubbly warrior princesses, that would be a valid criticism. But from what I understand they're more like abused flagellant monks. But I'm no expert on them seeing as nobody in the known universe plays them.
Daemonettes do qualify as sexual fantasy shit, but on the other hand they'll probably cut your dick off after they've fucked you and then sell your soul to hell. So it balances out in my mind.
I just feel that the universe of 40k should be at least as oppressive and dark as dark age Europe. And when you're reading shit about techpriests with robot tails having sex with future Duke Nukem, it sort of breaks the feeling for me.
I mean, think about it logically. The Catholic church in the real world practices celibacy, and they don't even have to worry about a God of excess driving people mad. You'd think that the grimdark space Catholics would take equal measures at the very least.

and tyes, although it depends on the extent of the persons injuries, also, they spend a lot of time sleeping.

Thats the one lighthearted book in the entire 40k universe, trust me, it's more oppressive and darken than dark age europe.
So when will the next big story update happen i.e as in whether the Emperor dies and turns into a starchild or whatever the rumors are. The 6th edition rule book or something?
So when will the next big story update happen i.e as in whether the Emperor dies and turns into a starchild or whatever the rumors are. The 6th edition rule book or something?
Sex itself isn't sex fantasy shit. Sex is a useful story tool, I mean the hookers in Full Metal Jacket weren't fanservice. They served a purpose in the story.
It's when the sex is inserted for no reason and when it confuses the story that it falls into nerd sex fantasy territory.

Yeah, I know, that's why I don't think it fits in thematically.

Rip holes in Greater Daemons?
Rip out Gene-Seeds from marines?
Wow, i didn't know they were that dangerous, i'm starting to understand why they 1-hit terminators in the Space Hulk game.
The sex isn't really all that inserted in Ciaphas Cain, just heavily implied.
It fits quite well, it's just more lighthearted because of the character of the protagonist.
Ciaphas Cain is probably the best book series in 40K, or #2 at the very least. You can stop nitpicking now.
