It actually is fairly common. Chaos tends to put forward a fairly unified front whereas all the seperate imperial militaries from the navy to army to marines squabble around.
To be honest the player decided decision are rarely good. Wasn't sanctuary 101 one as well?
Chaos just requires shiny things kill to become unified.

CGI is worse than DOW2's intro, which says a lot when one is meant to be a movie and the other just an intro to the game.
They should release the soundtrack they used for the movie.

To be fair, the movie had an extremely small budget, if they had the same quality that the DoW2 Intros had, it'd not have been made, because CGI like in DOW2 is costly, and having that for an hour and a half (i forget the entire running length)
Frankly, I think the only real let down of the CGI, were the faces, which were terrible.
The effects were pretty wank as well.
Take a guess at how much the budget for the entire film was then.

Making the DoW2 intro into a full movie would be great.
Using some fully 3d films with good quality looks and animation for comparison:
Final Fantasy The Spirits within budget: $137 million
Toy Story 3 Budge: $200 Million
Ice Age 3 Budget $90 Million
Cars Budget: $120 million
Wall-E Budget: £180 Million
Ultramarines the Movie Budget: $1.5 Million.
See now why the graphics aren't top notch? Hell, the Intro in DoW2 probably cost half or a quarter of UTM's budget. While GW may be able to pony up the money, they'd never make a profit from it.

Parts of it were really well done, but most of it looked underfunded and ancient.
Also, it raped the fluff, with initiates going straight to full battle-brother status. In addition to that, they brought a single squad on a strike cruiser and four marines died in the first shootout in under twenty seconds.

Not bad, but the pose is a little flat, the bolter is a bit too small, his right arm is larger than his left, and the lines need to be straighter. Just constructive criticism.
