Yep. I picked guard. Got a battleforce and a chimera, along with the 40k rulebook. Now I need dice, some templates and I need to find a ruler. Oh, and hobby tools. ....and paint. And I should probably pick up a codex so I can get my unit values.

You'll also need a rulebook, but you should note that seeing as you got a chimera, all your units combined will no longer be 500 points, so you might need to get more units to boost up to 750 points to be able to play.

In the Horus Heresy books he's a lot worse, comes across as a massive dick space hitler that pretty much kills anyone who disagrees with him. Most of the Primarchs that rebelled from him are more or less justified, especially Logans situation.

No, during the horus heresy, at the final battle of emperah vs horus, horus had called upon the whole power of the chaos gods and broke the emperors back, basically, and was nearly triumphant. Then, a space marine(or a guardsman, can't remember) came in and attacked horus (obviously died) and the emperor saw this and obliterated horus' body and soul.

Sanguinius found Horus first. Horus was at the height of his powers; augmented by the blessings of all four Chaos Gods, and Sanguinius was slain. Horus stood over the Primarch's body as the Emperor found the Warmaster. After a long and gruelling battle, the Emperor was successful in defeating Horus, but he himself was mortally wounded.
Some of the patches fix some of the bigger bugs. Though the gameplay changes are ingrained deep.
Is Space Marine the only non-RTS game in the series?

Alright, I got to the local hobby shop, tonight:
1) Fat Neckbeards, everywhere. In such numbers, never before witnessed by me - even 1d4 has not prepared me for this sight. But hey, at least they were friendly in explaining things, fluff and crunch related. I've got to see a beginning of a game (2 Vs 2, 750 points (I think), IG & CSM VS SM & Eldar).
2) Damn, 40k models are tinny. For some reason I always assumed them to be bigger. Now I know that official pictures of them are taken with damn good lenses.
3) Anyway, my birthday is relatively soon, so I'd like to start an IG army. I want to start with a 500 points one. I'd love to go for semi-mechanised, semi-blob army. Problem is, that store doesn't have much in the way of non-generic Cadian IG stuff (+/- Catachan).

You can start a Vostroyan IG army if you want. They're urban combat specialists, and they look pretty damn cool. Although you probably won't find them in your run-of-the-mill hobby store. You can order them off the GW website though. And if you find an actual GW store near you, they're bound to have some in stock.

No Steel Legion troops? Those are my personal favorites in the GW Line. If you have the money and really want diversity, order either some Steel Legion Guardsmen from GW or the Death Korps of Krieg from Forge World. And if you want to go with a mechanized force, nobody in the Guard is better then the Steel Legion. I really recommend them.
