This thread is so popular now I think if anything were to become 'mainstream' 40k should the background and lore are just too deep and fleshed out to be ignored
When i made the thread i never expected it would be this popular. Anyone think i should update the first post with more info?
is there somewhere a large chunk of text that i can read and know everything about my favourite universe? [editline]19th September 2011[/editline] by the way i have this strange feeling that this thread is about space marines more than any other race.
Not really a chunk of text you can read as there is just SO MUCH. W40K is pretty much about Space Marines more then any other race. Which i hate.
Dark Eldar are easily the coolest faction in 40k Hoboharry. No other faction has technology like theirs. What can the Necrons do? Ooh, I'm made of self-repairing metal! Oh my guns destroy the molecules your body was composed off! What can the Dark Eldar do? Black Hole in a box! Rebuild an Organic body, fully functional, from a single cell. They're the only race to have mastered manipulation of pocket dimensions to stitch a city together. They're easily the fastest race in Table Top and when they hit, whatever walks away will have it's ass stretched to the size of a train tunnel. They also killed over 500 marines from 3 combined chapters in a power struggle.
It's funny how people exaggerate their dick size even on the Internet
It was a joke about the Rhino's lenght.

I suppose it would help those new to the thread to learn more about WH40k.
Fixed.
[editline]19th September 2011[/editline] Sorry it took me so long, just got off of work.

Heck, i think Dark Eldars are one of the coolest factions in 40k (one of the reasons why is because i love the helmets Dark Eldar Warriors use, much more appealing than the helmets Guardians use.), though, i've never heard of them being able to rebuild an organic body, may i ask for a source/how it's done?
by the way i have this strange feeling that this thread is about space marines more than any other race.
I do not know what you speak of, brother.

Provided the patient can afford the great service.
What's with the stones sticking out of space marine heads, may I ask?
A bit of the dead Eldar is taken to a Haemonculi and, through magic-science, the body is regrown. Provided the patient can afford the great service.
Well how should the patient know when he is about to be revived/rebuilt? I take it the Dark Eldar use souls as currency, so perhaps some Dark Eldar might be revived and doesn't have enough souls to pay for the service.
What's with the stones sticking out of space marine heads, may I ask?
Service studs, they get one for every century or something Some prefer not to use them though, their head would be covered in that shit
That reminds me how do they live so long? It says captain Titus is a new smurf and only served for a couple centuries.
That reminds me how do they live so long? It says captain Titus is a new smurf and only served for a couple centuries.
Well they aren't human anymore, plus they have two hearts, which may explain why they live for so long.
The more you know
If that pictue is depressing for you, this one'll make you cry. (in before someone mentioned blood ravens again.)
Shall I ... "recreate" this with an addition of, a certain marine chapter?

Or the price is paid before, not sure. And DEldar use all sorts of things as currency. Whatever they want they can trade in, vials of tears of newborn infants, slaves, test subjects, fine works of art, anything.

If anything, i think the Dark Eldar are way too cruel, but what is the point of an incubi? Are they basically like the bodyguard of an Archon, or are they actually considered as soldiers of the Dark Eldar?
I'm thinking about maybe starting Necrons. Do they have an equivalent of Clans, Chapters or Legions?
I'm thinking about maybe starting Necrons. Do they have an equivalent of Clans, Chapters or Legions?
In the new Codex, yes.
No, I'm saying compared to todays medicine. So it's been rounded to 40,000.
His body was semi decent. The wounds were really on his soul. As to Incubi - they're most likely a subsect of striking scorpions, or if not subsect, have the same founder.

Pay 'em enough, and they'll protect you. There's also a bit of a code of honor (or the closest equivalent) involved, but I can't really remember what.
In the new Codex, yes.
Should I just wait for the new codex to come out before starting them? I want to make sure Matt Ward won't fuck them up.

They're available as mercenaries to anyone who can pay their fee. They're generally used as Shock Troops, in TT they're Space Marine killers largely without peer. Strength 4 Initiative 5 troops, getting 3 attacks on the charge with Power Weapons. Also, WS 5.
Work in progress shot of my Guardsmen. They are my first "real" minis. The only ones I did before are the Space Marines in the painter set which aren't in pieces.

Though, did you plan on adding a bit more detail to their faces, as in adding color to their eyes?
i envy your painting skills...i really do. my first miniatures were awful compared to those that said, after seeing my friends painting efforts i don't feel so bad, my warrior, his ravener: [img_thumb]http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/2840/imag0049ma.jpg[/img_thumb]
They're awesome, much better than anything i've ever painted i think. Though, did you plan on adding a bit more detail to their faces, as in adding color to their eyes?
Probably not worth doing the eyes, considering quite how many you'd have to paint. A wash on the skin would be useful, though. Sorry if you're already planning to do this.
They're awesome, much better than anything i've ever painted i think. Though, did you plan on adding a bit more detail to their faces, as in adding color to their eyes?
Pity that you've done the mistake of a lot of people and completely ignored going the base.
I'm thinking about maybe starting Necrons. Do they have an equivalent of Clans, Chapters or Legions?
Current Necrons are one of the easiest starting races. 20 warriors Lord with staff of light and res orb. Comes to exactly 500 points and fits the HQ 2 troops standard layout. Can deal with pretty much anything available to other races in 500 point range (Including light vehicles) and are hard as hairy balls to put down. They are also just plain solid and in terms of getting a decent looking army, they are easy to paint in different schemes standard metal necrons, ceramics and plastics. Quick too, Some guy wanted around 50 done and just using a black undercoat paint tin bitz, drybrush boltgun metal very lightly, snot green the pipes and dot the eyes, gold on the necron icon on the chest, codex grey drybrush the "ash style" base, slight fortress grey on bigger rocks pop the rod in and boosh done. Clean looking and snazzy done in a half day Friday. --- At least until Matt Ward gets his ham fisted approach to progress all over them.
What's with the stones sticking out of space marine heads, may I ask?
They make the Marines head bulletproof. That's how DreadKnight pilots get the same armour even though their head is unprotected.
