You have to put them in quote tags now
[QUOTE=acds;30478726]The Baneblade's armour is much stronger than an Abrams' though, I'd imagine it would be close to completely immune to today's payloads.[/QUOTE]
Given that the Land Raider's AV14 is equivalent to 365mm of steel
nah
An Abrams is not a Baneblade, thus it sucks.
Well I wouldn't terribly mind a sup com scale. Just think I'd like the original dow scale the most.
[QUOTE=A Glitch;30478440]the only thing i don't get is with titans why the heck would you have something built for war then stick a castle/chapel on its back[/QUOTE]
Because they are horribly impractical as pure design goes but a giant manifestation of human technological provess, the omnisiah's knowledge and the spirit of the emperor.
(that said warhound's are tactically sound actually, but anything bigger starts having problems in practicality.)

Titans only have one use, so you can scratch the question of weather they are practical or not. That use is blowing shit up.
I wouldn't care what scale DoW 3 would be as long as there are Tyranids and, specifically, Trygons.
Then all is forgiven.
DoW3 better have raptors, khorne bezerkers and a daemon prince.

Yeah, perhaps I'm wrong but i thought the point of titans was that of a larger baneblade. Something you deploy because you don't want to fuck around and you want to win.
The ammount of ordnance needed to kill one is pretty freaking high. Besides, not like the Imperium cares about practicability :v:

I thought most titans get killed by a single heroic man with a power fist. Don't seem to be particularly resilient
Another titan works too
Imperium's not the only one with giant things that go stompy stompy pew

Or something with a power claw. I seem to remember in one giant battle in a white dwarf an ork warboss charged a titan in the middle of the battle and killed it with its power claw.
Also stompas

The picture is from my trip to Ireland because there isn't a single fucking GW store in all of New England

Isn't Games Workshop based in New England?

GW Us HQ is, iirc Mepmhis

It hurts

I wish. Then the black mail would cost less to send.
I used to play IG in the tabletop game. It always frustrated me how the shooting was handled. My guardsmen would be the equivalent of 20ft from their targets (typically a mass of units too thick to see through) and still miss based on their ballistic skill. I understand their weapons are weak and shouldn't penetrate armor well, but it's ludicrous to imply that they can't hit enemies within throwing distance.
If I were to start collecting/playing again I'd have to go with an army with a higher base ballistic skill or some fancier toys; Tau perhaps. A shame because I really like all of the IGs tanks, artillery, and aircraft. Maybe Space Marines. :frown:
Should've just switched to Armor/Veterans only, then.

Get Kasrkin troopers?
They're the elite guardsmen, i suppose you could get some hits with them.
For DOWIII
I would like to see a variable scale, much like the tabletop.
Some missions see you in charge of a few squads in a small mission.
Others see you in command of an entire planetary force with titans and the like.
In short I want to see it being very varied and adaptable.

Ordnance is no need.
A baneblade can take down a titan.

Not really. Well yes it can take down a Titan, but chances are the Titan will destroy it before the BB even gets through the Void Shields. There are Baneblade variants made to take on Titans, but even then they are either used to take out the Void Shields and then let something else take the Titan down or to destroy the Titan after something already took down the Void Shields (mostly because those BB variants have a slow reload times so the Titan would vaporize it by the time it can fire of another shot).

Get Creed.
Infiltrate Baneblade.
Problem solved.

Infiltrate with Battle Barge.
Flawless victory.

Get Creed.
Infiltrate Blackstone Fortress.
Destroy Eye of Terror.
Or just use another titan.
I wonder if anyone has considered an all Humonculi Dark Eldar army.
If you have Urien Rakarth in there, you can get Wracks as a troop choice, and fill the ranks out with Grotesques, Scourges maybe if you look at them that way and Talos/Cronos units. (What the hell is the plurual of that, Cronosi? Cronoses?)
Having said that, I hate painting anything that's supposed to look like it has fluid in it, like half the DE units have in abundance.
My hopes for DOWIII:
-Singleplayer like DOWII, or like the Tiger ace campaign/ Causeway campaign in CoH:ToV.
-Multiplayer a mix of DOWI and CoH, but with a larger pop cap.
Ya know I've been thinking, how awesome would a tactical shooter like republic commando work in 40k?
I'd love to play as an inquisition squad :D
