Ya know I've been thinking, how awesome would a tactical shooter like republic commando work in 40k?
I'd love to play as an inquisition squad :D
Deathwatch would like a word with you.

If you're still going to do the Vassal game against Rayven, I would kindly go in Raven's team, if he wants too.
My hopes for DOWIII:
-Singleplayer like DOWII, or like the Tiger ace campaign/ Causeway campaign in CoH:ToV.
-Multiplayer a mix of DOWI and CoH, but with a larger pop cap.
-Multiplayer: combat mission/frozen synapse style turn-based system with accurate units statistics taken directly from the tabletop.
-Singleplayer: same thing as MP but story/objective oriented much like various tabletop scenarios, and maybe some method of having a persistent army
For the Orks: No vehicle building whatsoever, you want it? You go fucking loot it!
If you're still going to do the Vassal game against Rayven, I would kindly go in Raven's team, if he wants too.
Then I get an ally too! I can't play any day next week due to exams, but tomorrow is good, not heard from Rayven on it though.
Get Kasrkin troopers?
They're the elite guardsmen, i suppose you could get some hits with them.
Stormtroopers suck dick and are best used in melta anti-landraider suicide squads, carapace vets are much better and you can take 60 of them
[editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
I'd play with you if it fits into my schedule cyclo
If killer, Maximo and Rayven join to form a team then we could do the proposed 1k point battle mentioned earlier.
For the Orks: No vehicle building whatsoever, you want it? You go fucking loot it!
If I knew how to play vassal40k I would loot all your tanks. ALL OF THEM.
Then make them Orkey. verry orkey.
Ok, i've decided that considering the amount of money i spent on W40K, i should probably do something with all the things i have (E.g Make them and paint them)
So, i didn't want my Tau to be just basic Tau. I wanted them to be sort of an 'elite' cadre so i was thinking of sticking pounches, slings etc on them to show they are well equipped. I also wanted some Enchanted blue on them as i love Blue. I was thinking: Stick equipment on them, Black Armour then Blue cloth. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Should i Paint them being i glue them?
okay I have no idea where you're going with this but I would personally model them to be [del]operators in space a-stan[/del] like battle-hardened veterans, i.e. stick with the pouches and shit but also show them with dirt and grime (a little bit of glue-water-sand mixture dabbed on (not too much) and painted+drybrushed various shades of brown), a few chips (maybe a few nicks with clippers and a knife, some paint scratches with metallics (don't overdo it man)), and more than a few helmetless
Man I'm really having a bad time not starting a Death Korps of Krieg army. Or at least buying a few models and painting them. I haven't played since when I was a kid and I remember a lot of assholes in my local GW, I hope it's changed since.

Also if you have a tiny drill bit it would make for a good bullet hole in armor (just don't make it too deep).

Krieg aren't sold by GW, they're a lot more expensive too last I remember
I mentioned GW because I'd be playing there. I don't mind the price, I wouldn't go for some mammoth army. My local store's quite small anyway.

To purchase a bare minimum two-vetsquads-and-a-CCS 500pt DKoK army would require something like [B]£100.

Good ol' Games Workshop.

I didn't really think about that, i was thinking of just having their stuff supposed to be even more advanced/better equipped then other Cadres, with a nice high-tech looking Black and Blue paint scheme.

It's a good job that I'm rich as fuck :smug:
Reading the Lexicanum, its interesting to note how differently some imperial guard from different worlds behave. Some use tactics and strategies from Napoleon's era, while some resemble quite closely to our modern-day-armies.

In one of the Gaunt's Ghosts books the ghosts are deployed to a world that's been locked in trench warfare for like 60 years and they still use solid shot weapons and have cavalry charges.

pouches and slings don't really reinforce the high-tech image you're looking for there

Never going to happen and GW has already said so.
Hey gents, me and my friend are having some dark crusade through hamachi games every day, if you anyones interested in kicking eachothers asses, join this hamachi
name "fp crusader"
pass " " (1 space)
also make sure you have the most up to date version of dawn of war!
Me and a bunch of friends play Dark Crusade Firestorm over Kronus 3.6 via Hamachi regularly, is awesome.
pouches and slings don't really reinforce the high-tech image you're looking for there
Not so much a high tech look, more like well equipped.
advanced =! pouches
advanced =! pouches
My point is that currently, Tau do not look well equipped at all. Giving them things like that would make it seem like they are prepared.
Should've just switched to Armor/Veterans only, then.
IIRC tanks had the same base ballistic skill so they too had many disappointing misses. Veterans were a little better but you can't take as many and they have a high points cost. Tanks and Vets are expensive models too.
Seems like the Space Marines are better value; you can have an equally effective fighting force with half the units. Easier to transport and play with, less expensive. If I play again it will probably be SM.
I convinced my friend (who hates DC) to play the base game yesterday (didn't need hamachi). We went 1v1 against each other. Me as Necrons, him as Tau. At first he took the only critical location and started that taken hold victory bullshit, which we agreed was stupid and he allowed me to make it neutral so it would stop. I was stuck inside my base (which he frequently invaded, it was that map with the bases back to back), but the turrets were stopping him from getting inside to kill my shit.
Long story short, I made a fully activated monolith and got the nightbringer upgrade and invaded his base with both, killed lots of shit, got him so pissed off that he took the critical point, which I threw everything at to get it back (KROOTOX WON'T FUCKING DIE) to neutral, and he then invaded my base again with his douchebag crisis suits and killed the monolith while it was recovering.
There was much rage. Game pisses people off more then DoW2.
