Oh god, TACTICOOL M1911. Also, THAT CAP.
If I had a hat like the commissar's I'd wear it everyday.
They said they wanted to bring the real fluff/TT scale in to a VG. AKA, it WILL be a Total War game. Imperial Guard should be able to build heavy emplacements and defences, trenches and such.
Source?
He has the best hat, therefore he is now in charge.

Try to put more carapace type things on there. And for reference, try the tyranid codex. Looks good.
My main incentive were the level 45 Chaos Space Marine armors. [thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/BADASS._.PNG[/thumb] I mean, really, how can you look at that and not think 'Wow, that is awesome.'?
Do I have to play multiplayer battles against other players to level up my army or can I battle against bots with some players to gain levels?
Do I have to play multiplayer battles against other players to level up my army or can I battle against bots with some players to gain levels?
Player mp only.

Did this last year, on gmod.
I got a idea for DoW3. You have to conquer a solar system, which has around 12 planets of alot of varities. Each race (Lets say Tau, Space Marine, Imperial Guard, Chaos, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Tyranids and Orks) starts on their own planet or in a special way. Orks start scattered around, no home base until you take over a good amount of regions on one of the planets you've been scattered to. Tyranids start in a similar way, of course, or in a massive fleet. Eldar/Dark Eldar have webways on one planet each and arrive through them then slowly build up a base. Tau will have a base, but no defences ala codex. Space Marines/Imperial Guards will have bases on their own planets/regions within one planet. Chaos will work THROUGH whichever base that you don't control when you play as SM or IG. _________________________________________________________________________________ And as you progress through regions/turns/research/time you will unlock new tech/aquire new tech. Tau can get Gue'Vesa auxillary troops and Kroots will evolve. Space Marines/Imperial Guards will get support from their larger parts of the regiments arriving. Orks will band together and breed, causing more ideas to pop up and then a massive WAAAGH! is insued which unlock further tech. And so on. Also fleets. Mother fucking space battles and boarding action (includes total control of units inside to sabotage ship systems). Yes?
Pretty much Warhammer 40k: Total War. I'm all for it.
So, from what I understand, nobody really likes Chaos other than Chaos itself. So how - if they have no idea what the newer armor patterns are like - do they have armor that's anywhere near as good as that of the Space Marines? And for that matter, how exactly do they replenish their numbers? I know a good few Chapters defect for no good reason, but would that really be enough in a universe literally fueled by war?
m1911a1 with shit taped to it
Silly Heretic. It's a laspistol.
Silly Heretic. It's a laspistol.
This weapons held out for 38,000 years. Pretty good track record.
This weapons held out for 38,000 years. Pretty good track record.
It's not like technology's going to advance at all anyway, though.
Holy. Shit. How did you do the majority of your leveling on it?
Patience, i suppose. After a lot of games, you'll eventually learn how to be better at the race you're playing as, for example, i sucked at SM once, then i tried playing again after trying out a certain build/tactic i noticed from another player, and i won, i've been successful at SM so far. Plus i've played the game for like 544 hours, go figure. :v: [editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
Fuck, I suck at this game.
As i said, it's all about learning a certain build/tactic. Here's a build/tactic i know. Imperial Guard: Make 1 imperial guardsmen squad, then wait until you can get a Sentinel, after that get sergeants on both of your imperial guardsman squads when you can, and after that get another imperial guard squad and add a sergeant when you can aswell, use the Sentinel's ground stomp to push away melee units that are closing in. T2: Get a Chimera and a Storm Trooper squad, add meltaguns to the storm trooper squad so you can ambush vehicles/stop vehicles from destroying your chimera or such, upgrade all 3 guardsmen squads to plasma guns, you'll effectively kill enemy Space Marines, and you'll also have the chimera to jump into for a quick escape. T3: Pretty much your choice, i personally get Leman Russes with Vanquisher cannon upgrades (unless i'm up against another Imperial Guard player, then i'll put an Executioner cannon upgrade on one of the Leman Russes), but you can get a baneblade if you want to or such, when enemies see a Baneblade they might retreat, which is a plus, if they've got heavy defenses, i suppose. Wargear for IG heroes: Tier 1: Holy Pyre on Inquisitor, Stabilizers on Lord General, and Power Sword on your Commissar Lord. Tier 2: Inquisitorial Mandate and Inferno Pistol on Inquisitor and a Meltagun on the Lord General (if you also get a storm trooper squad with meltaguns and use the special ability the Lord General's meltagun gives you, you'll be able to obliterate vehicles and power generators rather quickly, and for the Commissar Lord you should get a Power Fist. Tier 3: Purgatus on Inquisitor, Lord General's wargear shouldn't change, and the Commissar should get Wrath of the Emperor. Hope this helped, guys, let me know if you'd like to know a build/tactic for another race.

Also space marines still defect, although not in the amount they did back during the Horus Heresy.
I'm not particularly sure on it so if someone can correct me that'd be great but I think anything summoned from the Warp isn't destroyed, just sent back there. Kill a Chaos champion, he goes back to the warp and can be summoned again later. Same with most of the marines. The ones who don't spend all their time in the warp would probably do it in the same way as any other marine chapter, recruiting children, implanting them with the geneseed and then harvesting it from dead marines.

[editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
Is retribution worth $30 or should I wait for a sale?
Well there's already been like 2-3 sales on Retribution, and i don't think they're going to have another sale for it any time soon. You could wait for a sale, but i think it's worth 30$ IMO.
Original Angelos is the best. In fact, all the voices in the original DoW were the best. Force commander, nobs, sorcerer, chaos lord...
Chaos Rising and Retribution had the guy who did Angelos's voice in the first dawn of war do his voice in those too, in Dawn of War II, it was, I think, his brother that did Angelos's voice. Infact theDobson Brothers (3 of them in total) did most of the voices for the original Dawn of War.

To be honest, i prefer the DoW2 Angelos voice, the voice is so badass to me.

Iron Warriors use a cloning feature were marines are born from a daemonic womb while other legions rely on Fabius Bile to create more geneseeds and clone them. Chaos also warps armour or people to its liking usually, its likely that the warp restructured their power armour or they have looted a lot of their gear (as they are known to do).
Well, at least they look better than before I repainted them: [t]http://i.imgur.com/kXobB.jpg[/t]
I hope we have space battles in DoW 3.
If they are planning on doing that, FUCKING PLEASE BRING BACK BASE BUILDING. Or try to follow a World In Conflict Style (Buying units with resources, no base building) I hate the squad style they adopted.
So i was playing a game of Victory Point control earlier in DoW2: Retribution whereas instead of winning through controlling the victory points, me and my two teammates charged with some vehicles and infantry and destroyed all of their bases.
