Well, at least they look better than before I repainted them: [t]http://i.imgur.com/kXobB.jpg[/t]
I really like the one in the upper right. My only gripe would be that the weapons are all one color and it seems you're using a big brush, because it looks like you got some brown on the arms. Also,
i think i fucked up the whole "tyranid" aspect of it
people either missed this or it sucks
people either missed this or it sucks
It's good, it just doesn't look that Tyranidy. It reminds me of some of the artwork from the First Ed D&D fiend folio
Patience, i suppose. After a lot of games, you'll eventually learn how to be better at the race you're playing as, for example, i sucked at SM once, then i tried playing again after trying out a certain build/tactic i noticed from another player, and i won, i've been successful at SM so far. Plus i've played the game for like 544 hours, go figure. :v: [editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
Any tips for chaos? i usually hold off buying anything but the halo for the chaos lord, opening with a single CSM squad then grabbing noise marines asap, then teching to T2 for Tzeentch's mark for the CSM squads and grabbing a few plague marines (and claws for the lord, cause claw's are bitchin' son)
I really like the one in the upper right. Guess I missed that. :v: Oh, and I hate painting eyes. A lot.
It's good, it just doesn't look that Tyranidy. It reminds me of some of the artwork from the First Ed D&D fiend folio
Thanks. But do you have any refs? Lexicanum only has 200x200p pics [editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
I got brown on the arms because my hand isn't very steady, I had to go back over a lot and repaint things.
I used to go double heretic squads, one with aspiring champion, one with grenade launchers and 2-3 CSM squads, but now i mainly go 1 heretic squad with aspiring champion, 3 CSM squads with Eternal War on each squad, no upgrades on Chaos Lord until t2. In T2, the wargear i get for my Chaos lord is Armor of the Inferno, Lightning Claws (Yeah, bro, claws are indeed bitchin') and Icon of Khorne, with all this wargear he becomes a unstoppable killing machine, trust me, he's soloed Nob squads with this wargear. Mark of tzeentch on all CSM, and Aspiring Champions on each squad, or you could skip the champions and go T3 to get mark of Tzeentch predators, which are rather effective against vehicles. For Plague Champion: Fetid Armor and Blight Grenade in t1, Plague Fist in t2, for Chaos Sorcerer: Sword of Flame and Vestments of the Warp, Rod of Warpfire in t2 and Tome of Subjugation in t3. Hope this helped. [editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
Oh, and I hate painting eyes. A lot.
Same here, painting Grey Knight eyes is hard as shit for me.
This my tourney music lol they make a wh40k reference at 3:18

Anyone want to finish DoW2 co-op with me on Primarch? I am at [sp]the mission after you've just killed rippa splitta in search for a relay to get information on the hive fleet[/sp] Add me http://steamcommunity.com/id/Partyprime
It kind of sucks that Dawn of War II vanilla still uses GFWL, so there is nobody to play with. Or so it seems..
It kind of sucks that Dawn of War II vanilla still uses GFWL, so there is nobody to play with. Or so it seems..
CO-OP with me :(
I can't be the only one who loves the squad system of DoW2 and hates the global war style of Total War.
I can't be the only one who loves the squad system of DoW2 and hates the global war style of Total War.
I don't mind the squad style I despite the point capture mode for mp though.
Thanks. But do you have any refs? Lexicanum only has 200x200p pics
The tyranid codex, Xenobiology book and maybe some White Dwarf articles will have what you're looking for, I think. How you obtain them is up to you. My advice would be to go for a less overall visually noisy style, though, the 'nid in the picture looks mutilated. I have no idea if this is intentional.
Gave space marines a go in DoW Reti MP, felt like this screenshot was very agent smith vs neo just with more claws :v: [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/595823533756620909/A52E07E536A0432F74DE9900262E418DD2CBD1E8/[/t]
That reminds me, we need a better combat animation system in the next DoW (unless it's going to be on much larger scale of course). The current one is fine for normal battles, but when you end up with a character/commander/special unit vs character/commander/special unit, it looks a bit wooden to say the least. Not that it matters, next DoW will hopefully be massive (well, compared to DoW2 atleast) scale spanning several planets.
What we need is to bring back Sync Kills.

[editline]24th September 2011[/editline]
What we need is to bring back Sync Kills.
Retribution already has sync kills.
Went back and played Dark Crusade today. I don't think I can ever play Retribution again. Warhammer 40,000 is about massive grimdark battles that are massive and grimly-dark. DOW2 and the expansions is small scale and boring, at least to me. In Retribution I won't be able to deposit two full companies of pissed off Guardsmen with eleven Chimeras in support and an artillery battery farther back. It just isn't the same. And isn't DOW3 an RPG or something? I haven't bothered to read much news about that.
Wooden? What do you mean?
I mean that you can clearly see them standing in the standard pose for X milliseconds, then initiating the pre-calculated animation, then standard pose for another X milliseconds and so on. Of course animations in an RTS have to be pre-calculated (gets a bit heavy on the hardware to calculate the anims of 500 plus units), but it could be a lot better, more fluid and more dynamic (right now it's the same set of animations until one dies).
Is Storm of Iron any good? I just bought it and finished the second chapter.
What are the relative merits of the assorted weapon choices on a dreadnought?
What are the relative merits of the assorted weapon choices on a dreadnought?
Is this on the tabletop or the video games? If it's tabletop, you can use weapon choices to help flesh out what the rest of your army is missing. You can also use the fact it's a walker to get heavy weapons easily to nasty places - this works particulary well with a lascannon, because you can use difficult terrain to hit the side armour of tanks whilst benefiting from hull down due to being in heavy cover.
So, from what I understand, nobody really likes Chaos other than Chaos itself. So how - if they have no idea what the newer armor patterns are like - do they have armor that's anywhere near as good as that of the Space Marines? And for that matter, how exactly do they replenish their numbers? I know a good few Chapters defect for no good reason, but would that really be enough in a universe literally fueled by war?
They replenish their numbers through corrupting loyalists or ceremonies. Also back then, Chapters were fucking HUGE. Order of magnitude larger than they are now. Also they have access to pre STC equipment, which means whilst their shit does not upgrade, it was pretty boss to begin with, and they have daemonic boons to boot. The dark adeptus provides stuff like daemon eye bolters and ray cannons, and they also have access to cloning equipment.

As in like, 2000 to 4000 marines per chapter or so? Excluding the Thousand Sons, that is, sorry Thousand Sons, you were low in numbers most of the time.
