I was successful, over 50% of the posts in LMAO pics are W40k. I have served the emperor well.
Not really..special characters and stuff yes but everything else is fine.
What if you have say, a regular Space Marine Sergeant and decide to name him something and give him some lore? Would that make him count as a special character, or are we talking more about 'special abilities' and such? At this rate, you're probably going to kill 40k for LMAO pics.
I love Dark Crusade.

[editline]29th September 2011[/editline] .
Special Characters = Named characters in a codex. rather than the generic Captains or Chapter Master or Librarian or Chaplains.
I think he means more special characters that exist in one codex but not in the next sort of thing.
I love Dark Crusade.
A Necron Warrior doing a handstand with both of his legs gone? Bravo i say, bravo.
A Necron Warrior doing a handstand with both of his legs gone? Bravo i say, bravo.
Well it wouldn't be a handstand if he was standing on his legs would it :v:
As long as your model is a Games Worshop model, they can't and don't actually stop you, the only rule is that minatures must be a certain amount of GW parts, and/or sculpting/greenstuff work that you've done yourself.
There's also a cut off point; not like this is saying anything new.
I thinking of starting my first army, and I am looking for suggestions. (I have the 5ed rule book already) Rainbows - Dark Eldar Informative - Black Reach (For the nifty pocket rule book, and DA ORKS) Bawkses - Firaeveus Carron CSM army (No Transports) Funny - Necrons (To be started after the new Codex hits)

They must be really hard to paint with all those damn lines on the vehicles, and the fact that its largely a hit and run army beggars some experience, right?
Just get Black Reach best thing to start with.
It may be a very good starter set, but the Dark Eldar are a pretty awesome army, in my opinion.
It may be a very good starter set, but the Dark Eldar are a pretty awesome army, in my opinion.
Awesome maybe, but they are not made for someone who just starts playing.
Awesome maybe, but they are not made for someone who just starts playing.
Yeah, that's true, i'll give you that. Anyway, SpaceJesus, if you have a friend which would like to try out tabletop aswell, you could possibly play with/against him if you buy the Assault on Black reach starter set, because it's got enough models for two 500 point armies, Space Marines and Orks.
Well, the Space Marines you get are worth 585 points and the Orks are worth 450. Skewed a bit in favor of the SM, but Orks stand a chance if you get some Burnas and consider the Boyz to be 'Ard Boyz.
Want a plot twist, anyone? Horus is on the golden throne, not the emperor. Dorn brought back the wrong body (for his own reasons) Thats why chaos marines always say 'Death to the false emperor!' because it actually is the wrong emperor. [sp]Im not being serious, but think about it[/sp]
I've always wondered why they say that. I mean, who would be the 'true' emperor if the emperor himself was false?
I've got a roommate to practice on, so I guess I'll go for Black Reach. Hmmm... maybe I can kitbash the termies into Mega armored nobs.

That's not very fair, i thought it was a 500 point army each starter kit, would be better that way, really.
I agree wholeheartedly. But its still the most value for your money and its the only way to get Deffkoptas, which are probably one of my favorite Ork units.
I really hope DoW 3 is going to be like Total War. As in, bigger battles. Space battles would be pretty sweet too.
Is it just me or has the Citadel Spray Paints vanished from Games Workshop's website?
I really hope DoW 3 is going to be like Total War. As in, bigger battles. Space battles would be pretty sweet too.
i just want territories to conquer, DoW II could've had it but didn't...a man can dream...
There's also a cut off point; not like this is saying anything new.
No there isn't, as long as you followed the rules of WYSIWYG (which is the norm for GW tournaments) and have the weapon options represented on the model, you could use a 1st edition model. There have been cases where GW workers have said no, only because they didn't know it was a 1stEd model etc etc. [editline]30th September 2011[/editline]
Is it just me or has the Citadel Spray Paints vanished from Games Workshop's website?
Not the UK one, besides which there are plenty of alternatives, some better, some cheaper, some both. Hell you could turn up to a tournament with this and by GW's rules (models must be a cerain % Games Workshop parts) you should be able to play, of course, you look like a bit of a dick if you do that, and its the tournament host's discretion whether you could play or not.
I've seriously considered getting into warhammer 40k, how good is the Black Reach starter kit? How many points are each army? How 'customizable' is both armies in terms of playing games with lower points (the space marines seem to be capable of that, the orks not so much)? [editline]30th September 2011[/editline] Oh and what colours are the best to get? The official ones seems to cost just shitloads of dosh for no good reason beyond being their own stuff. What sort of colour is it really? Oil-based? I guess if I know what type of colour it is then I could just scour the colour stores in my city for colour of the same kind, and then just go with whatever colours look best (and mix them).
Black reach is very good for a starter set, and the points have been stated. You really can't play a decent game lower than 500 points, unless you use killteam rules. The paints are acrylic so in theory any acrylic paint should do but some work better than others, Vallejo, Reaper, etc etc are all alternatives.

I was reading stories about people playing Warhammer 40k games and tournaments and some guy had 'Forge World' and they had to make sure they weren't against the rules and some people accused him of cheating or wanted to change their line-up before starting a game with the Forge World models. So what is that? Why are they different?
Forgeworld is a separate line of models made by a third party company that comes with their own experimental, non-canon rules. They attempt to be balanced, but, like I said, it's all third party work. My thoughts, though, is that some of the models look really cool and could actually be fun to use as normal models just to spice things up a bit.
