It's difficult thinking of words to rhyme with Orks, just saying. Oh, and I wasn't trying to Be canon-accurate.
Those damned Orks, we better get some corks or they'll attract the snorks! Yes, this is now STALKER: Call of Heresy.
Why do you think I love them so much? [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline] What book is this? You still have delayed the name.
I did no such thing. It is titled "Warhammer 40k: Xenology". Its also written by M. Night Shyamalan. And also, some recent rumors take a huge runny dump on the end of the it, which is a god damn shame. I'm fairly certain the information collected about the other species in 40k are accurate though.
Yeah he could, but I wonder why he didn't just swat the invasion fleet out of orbit, or just fry everything on the ground.
This is actually a pretty good question. I suppose he was directing the war effort everywhere at the same time. I don't remember reading about him really using his psyker powers anyway. [editline]2nd October 2011[/editline]
"If we can but delay that great maw from closing around us, then we have achieved what countless Empires, countless worlds, countless galaxies, have not. "I say this not to terrify you. I say it simply so you understand, simply so you do not waste your time with such luxuries as hope. "There is no hope. The Great Devourer is upon us. "Let us see how long we may restrain her jaw." Hnng Tyranids so awesome.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/M42#.TogdkHLRvrU "095.M42 The Abominable Chitin: a Concise History of the Tyrannic Wars" Seems to imply they have been pushed back or defeated.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/M42#.TogdkHLRvrU "095.M42 The Abominable Chitin: a Concise History of the Tyrannic Wars" Seems to imply they have been pushed back or defeated.
The Tyrannic Wars are the invasions of Behemoth and Kraken. The currently invading Hive Fleet, Leviathan, doesn't even have a war that coincides with it. So its probably an account of those two past Hive Fleets, not that the Tyranids as a whole are gone. They are very much there and IIRC encroaching on Terra.
Are we still talking about optimal Chaos warcries? Because it was the finale of this That originally got me interested enough to look deeper into 40k as a whole.
Check, and mate http://youtu.be/DkkYxmMj-Oo :v:
I have no idea where I saw the thing about the Tau Fleet making it a decent way into Imperial Space, but I did manage to find stuff about the Damocles Gulf Crusade, which sort of reinforces my whole "They're not exactly a push over and we can't really commit the forces to fight them" point. I mean yeah, the Empire COULD wipe them out fairly easily if they mobilised more of their forces, but it's become a victim of its own success, and there are plenty of more heretical and violent Xenos to fight. The Tau take advantage of that fact.
"The Ethereals have been controlling their subjects all along. Remove the Aun (Ethereal) caste, and the Greater Good has no meaning. Without their chemical puppetry, their pheromone manipulation, the Tau Empire is reduced to an anarchic pack of disparate creatures, without cohesion." 'Tau are the good guys' my ass.
It's Imperial Propoganda. Them having leaders does not in any way mean they aren't the 'good guys'. Also it's from Xenology, so it can't really be trusted/considered fully canon.
The pheremone thing was from xenology wasn't it? Technically non-canon. And no, the Tau Empire would be fine - it would be alot worse off, but it would not die.
There's also the whole implied mass sterilisation thing, although I'm not sure if that's ever outright confirmed.
Gold skull to the guy who remembers this.
The Tau are shit not just because their Utilitarian Plato's Republic society is an absolute farce of good and only appeals to it because everyone else is too busy with pragmatism to worry about ideology. They are shit because going for them because they're the good guys is like betting on a horse because it has the funniest name. Being good is an absolute joke because it's relative, a morally twisted form of good, a stupidly farcical good and only makes a good slogan for people who read too many fairy tales. They are tiny twisted little vagina faces of no importance who are only jerking each other off until until someone turns them into a breakfast snack.
Gold skull to the guy who remembers this.
Oh shit! Its those parasite things from Bionicle! Also, what is the very first book for warhammer 40k? The Horus Heresy Books?
And you don't reckon their far-advanced technology is of note?
Their technology isn't advanced, it's futuristic. It goes well with them, something fancy looking that's impressive but in reality is pretty damn pointless. Hovertanks vs Leman Russ tractor tanks, one is more impressive but the other is a fuckload more useful.
There's also the whole implied mass sterilisation thing, although I'm not sure if that's ever outright confirmed.
Again, Imperial proganda. And having a large amount of your enemies living on your new planet is a bad thing so of course they would want to control them.
And you don't reckon their far-advanced technology is of note?
Some of their technology is advanced (E.g Crisis suits), but the majority of it is just more efficent then the other races versions.
YOU MISSED MAKUTA YOU BUNG he was pretty much satan+khorne, remember?

The amount of arguing in this thread over the Tau is great, I can only imagine the shitstorm when they first came out.
The amount of arguing in this thread over the Tau is great, I can only imagine the shitstorm when they first came out.
Ah, the ol' Fish of Fury manuver stirred up a lot of drama. I wish I was there to see it unfold.
It'd be awesome to show up with a huge army of Squats next time GW has a large world wide campaign.
I had a copy....but now Its lost.
I found a copy in Game for a few quid, check your local gaming retailer. It'll probably be on the bargain shelf.
But it's been noted often that Ethereals do have pheromones to use for charisma or manipulation or such, personally, i don't think it's too unlikely. As for killing each other, no, they don't do that either.
No they don't. Xenology is the only place that suggest they use Pheremones. And i didn't know that, i based my information off of tvtropes and Commander Farsight, which, according to you, is an exile.
It'd be awesome to show up with a huge army of Squats next time GW has a large world wide campaign.
Try bringing some Zoats and Fimir to a fantasy game
But how can Commander Farsight resist the Ethereals?
But how can Commander Farsight resist the Ethereals?
It's suggested he's somewhat corrupted by Chaos. It's also possible he left because he discovered some horrifying secret about the Ethereals, so it may be that he's just a rather strong-willed person. Though resistance does suggest the Ethereals are simply great leaders who can be refuted like anyone else.
Try bringing some Zoats and Fimir to a fantasy game
Never heard of Fimir before.
It's totally metagaming, GW are having ethereal's killed off to make up for Fire Warrior.
Fire Warrior wasn't that bad. It was an FPS with terrible suspension of disbelief and more-or-less fine everything else. Plus, they got the Imperial ships just GRIMDARK enough. I haven't really seen anyone else do that right.
