You've done an okay job with the marine aswell, he's a bit too colorful for my tastes, but it's up to you for what you want to paint your marines like, that, and bolter magazines usually aren't dark and neither are scopes, you could also try painting a bit of gold if you find a little gold emblem like the one on the bolter. For both models, i noticed that you've left some parts unpainted, are those models still unfinished?
Sorry but the colors on that marine.... ohgod what have you done
Captain planet marine.

The marine, I accidentally glued the gun on him first so that's why it looks like that. But if your talking about his head that I painted gray.
And are under two tons of titanium
It's Ceramite Armour. It's worn by both Space Marines and IG (Depending on regiment and/or rank.)
Sorry but the colors on that marine.... ohgod what have you done
His mind was touched by Slaanesh when he decided those color schemes.
Also the marine was my on color scheme of my favorites. I think he looks ok, but he's not hardcore in your face kick ass.
Also the marine was my on color scheme of my favorites. The marine is also a bit too bright for my taste, but it is really up to you how to paint it. At least he's not a boring Ultramarine.
typ
What do you mean ''typ''?
Thin your paints, provide basecoats and use washes. The marine is also a bit too bright for my taste, but it is really up to you how to paint it.
What do you mean ''typ''?
Thin your paints
The cardboard joke is getting old.
Still true though.
I dunno. I would say that the jaw piece the ork warboss has is at least 10 tons.
Power Armour isn't anywhere near 2 tons and you're kidding right?
Their lasguns would tear holes in the marines too :v:
<snip> PRotip: When you say Marines in a 40K everyone is going to think you mean Space Marines.
That's not saying much when the enemy either uses plasma, lasers or mind enhanced bullets.
Protip: Flak Armour isn't to keep the bullets out, it's to keep the major organs in for easy collection later.
When I do basecoats it comes out too shiny.
This. I tried a basecoat on my first one and well... [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/DSC_0076.JPG[/t] :suicide: Then again, I basically destroyed him with impatience. Either way, My next one should look a lot better. (hopefully)

I'd prolly just create some monstrosity.

ALSO GET DEVLAN MUD, LOTS OF DEVLAN MUD[SUB]or badab black for inorganic models[/SUB]

I was painting with a big brush and didn't wait for it to dry in between paints.
When I do basecoats it comes out too shiny.
what sort of paint are you using?
And this is a reminder why I'll refrain from buying WH figurines. I've been terrible at painting since kindergarten. I'd prolly just create some monstrosity.
It's not too hard to get tabletop quality paint jobs. Sure it takes a few* models to get the hang of things but if you keep at it you'll get decent if not good results. * By "few" i mean probably almost a full squad. At least for me it did anyway. When I first started I started with a small Space Marine army and they all look terrible. I have long since moved to Tau and so far I am very pleased with how they are now. However I haven't painted for months so my tau army isn't fully painted yet.
This pretty much. I was painting with a big brush and didn't wait for it to dry in between paints.
Looks like you weren't wiping off any excess from your brush either
What's the proper way to thin paints? Water to paint ratio or tricks to get it right? Personally, the Tau I did I like a lot the way they are but everyone says to thin my paints so I'll try it. I want to get better at it painting anyway, so if this is something I need to learn I'll learn it. [editline]10th October 2011[/editline]
This.
Looks like you weren't wiping off any excess from your brush either
I knew I was forgetting something. Thanks, I could have made the same mistake with my next one. :v:
So, in my journeys today of trying to find a store that sells model kits I found an awesome military surplus/gun store... and a Warhammer/40k/Magic the Gathering place. Didn't want to come out of the 40k store empty handed so I bought a box of five marines. :v:

[editline]10th October 2011[/editline] Nurgle Space Marine.
Add water and a tiny amount of dish soap, to break the surface tension of the water, an absoloutely teeny bit. and personally I've found 2:1 water to paint for normal paints good and 3:1 water to paint for foundation paints.
