Welp, I think I've made a good decision.
After I finish my Warriors of Chaos WHFB Army, I'll move onto W40K, where I'll make Dornian Heresy Word Bearers out of Dark Angel and Grey Knight parts, namely using the robes of the Dark Angels, and helmets and other bits and the Grey Knight pieces that have scripture written on them.
Good idea or Awesome idea?
Hmm this dark millenium is starting to sound rather good, hope my computer's upgraded by then. Also Space wolves and Pre-heresy iron warriors.
The game should be built around the fluff instead of the other way around.
To be honest it wouldn't work with a MMO.
I want to see a Inquisitor game like KOTOR 1-2 and ME series with some Dues Ex elements were you play a role of a Inquisitor doing detective work, hiring or recruiting members to your party etc, traveling to different sectors and worlds to try and fight against a huge conspiracy.
Why does EVERY W40K butcher fluff?
Not every warhammer 40k game butchers fluff.
Oh not sure has this been posted here, it's neat short vid
From what I've seen, the first half of a codex is usually all fluff.
And can I say Death Guard is my favorite Space Marine chapter? I mean they were Space Marines at one point.
I do not suppose you can say that, because Death Guard being a loyalist space marine chapter is just the past, however, if Thousand Sons were still a loyalist space marine chapter, i would probably consider them as my favorite, they all look so awesome, in my opinion.
Not every warhammer 40k game butchers fluff.
Every game since Firewarrior has.
what you're all forgetting is that these games have to appeal to the masses and that means changing some of the fluff to suit the game. If we had games specifically built for the fans and stuck 100% to fluff then all the games would be HORRENDOUSLY imbalanced. Fluff butchery is going to happen .
I love the 40k fluff but i'm perfectly happy with all the modern games as they are, i mean can you imagine necrons having their weapons as the guns that destroy all your atoms in about half a second in DoW? or having bolter shells being 1 hit kill in Space Marine? i could go on and on about how fluff is gameplay breaking
How does an Eversor even fit into an MMO? There would be thousands of Eversor Assassins running around than. And aren't they like lethally addicted to chems and drugs? Does that mean I have to spend all my 'credits' to buy drugs or I die? It loses it's fear factor when anyone can just become an Eversor assassin.
Normal day for an Eversor assassin:
Wake up inside the droppod which is being prepared for planetfall, get your objectives (who you have to kill and where he currently is).
Drop onto planet while being filled with combat drugs that will help you murder things.
Run out of the droppod, murder anything that moves and is on your way to your objective. Destroy objective or blow up trying.
After objective is dead, murder your way to exfiltration zone, where you fall into drug-induced stupor until you are stuffed into a cryogenic pod, where you will wait for a few years until the cult needs you again.
Rinse and repeat.
"Lethal addiction" as in being always filled with drugs when you are awake? Yeah. Sounds about right.

They are probably tripping off their fucking balls when they kill.
Collecting rainbows instead of spilling blood.

If that was to happen then they make it so you can field the correct amount of Guard/Orks etc. It's works fine and is possible to beat in Tabletop, it should be in the games.
Them appealing to the masses is irrelevent in some cases, as they don't know the difference. E.g with Space Marine height.

*Eversor sees a bunch of Eldar* OH LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTY FAIRIES, HI FAIRIES! *Kills them but in his mind he's hugging them and singing songs to them*
All this whilst laughing like a mother fucker.

Even Tabletop doesn't adhere to fluff really, at least the combat etc etc.

Red Hunters. Inquisitorial Space Marines, Fuck yeah.

Thousand Sons (Rubric and Pre-heresy) and Iron Hands.

AAHH FUCK.
Though the statement sure does sound awkward. Maybe we'll hear about it come 2012. It seems they really did want to make a sequel.
So....whats youre guys favorite space marine chapter?
Black Templars and Space Wolves.

If you want to play it safe and make a traditional shitty MMO then yes it wouldn't work. How about making a new and unique experience that can be provided by the 40k universe?
How about making a new and unique experience that can be provided by the 40k universe?
That would imply using a race that isn't IG, SM, Chaos, or Ork as the main race. And GW wouldn't want that.

Technically not a Chapter.
You can have games with gameplay that is shaped by fluff and not the other way around. Look at the Souls games, fluff doesn't bend to gameplay.

because every single mmo says that
never works out
Technically not a Chapter.
Yeah, I guess.
Still grade A shit-wreckers.
I made all these forged tusks for my termies but I don't have glue for them :c
because every single mmo says that

No every mmo plays it safe and ends up being too close to WoW and doing it worse than WoW so people stick to WoW and no one plays the new ones for very long.

How about reading what I said. It means that there would be multiple factions not this "order vs destruction" fluff breaking bullshit. I wouldn't mind if certain races team up to form factions but Imperium shouldn't team with anyone, neither should Necrons or Tyranids. Really the only thing I can see is Tau / Eldar and Orks / Chaos / Dark Eldar (because Chaos could manipulate the other 2), BUT AGAIN ABANDON THE TWO FACTION IDEA (so you can have some races team up but for the love of god the two faction thing is boring and causes fluff to break when you throw in the Imperium).
Every game since Firewarrior has.
And i thought you said Dawn of War was correct fluff-wise.
What happened to that statement?

I wasn't trying to say anything about any specific game, even Dark Millennium. What I'm trying to say is that there's only so much you can do between Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Chaos, and Orks. If you want a game that's going to be "new and unique", Games Workshop is going to have to put some focus on races outside their favorites.
And going into what you said about Dark Millennium, have you seen any MMO (hell, any PvP game, really) that deals with more than two factions? It's a lot easier to create and balance two factions than it is to create and balance 4, on top of all the different interactions between the factions.
So....whats youre guys favorite space marine chapter?
Grey Knights all the way, even if they've been ruined in your eyes because of a piece of shit called Matt Ward.
