Anyone here who played all heroes in last stand until a reasonable level? I'd like to know what two offer the most fun. Space marine is said to be quite versatile.
Well as far as i know, based on mine and other people's opinions, Lord General, Mek or Captain are the most fun.
Anyone here who played all heroes in last stand until a reasonable level? I'd like to know what two offer the most fun. Space marine is said to be quite versatile.
Chaos Sorcerer is p. cool at later levels, especially when you get master sorcery and the deathless robes.
-snip-
I heard Chaos Sorcerer can be tough in the beginning, but thanks to both of you for the input.
He's tough to play as up until you're at level 10+ with him, then he becomes quite fun to play as.
I don't recall this fluff anywhere. As far as I know the necrons that still are unique individuals relish in doing what they do.
I think it was more like when they were transferred into their new bodies, they still had their full mind, but over the generations they were dulled to become more slave like to the C'tan.
At least that's how it was until this new codex arrived. I don't know how a race pretty much bred for slavery managed to overthrow their own gods.

Necron cover art needs more green, and less... "emotion".
The two books that I posted a few pages back were actually part of a birthday present I've been gathering up for my brother (He's a huge Warhammer fan, but doesn't have these books). I decided against wrapping it up in plain birthday wrapping paper, and decided to put together something fun.
Don't have any meltas. (I think, Let me check.)
Yep, no meltas.
Don't listen to him. Meltas are anti vehicle and no template. Use flamers and heavy flamers.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but did you make that purity seal yourself?
While I personally like the new necrons, here's the cover art.

In before rage about "necrons aren't tomb kings!!!1"
I kinda like that actually. To me it shows the Necrons entering a new stage of awakeness (Which logically speaking would be the most independant to boot - they haven't spent thousands of years awake and on occasionally being killed, all of which would erode their personality).
Of course, this is before I read any fluff written by a certain Mr. Ward...
Sorry if this sounds stupid, but did you make that purity seal yourself?
There's a guy on ebay that makes/sells them.
Space Marines use shields too. So do Chaos. In fact, lots of the armies in 40k have shields. It's not a new thing.
Yeah but with terminators it looks appropriate. They are gigantic shields coupled with gigantic hammers that are heavily decorated and gritty. The Necron shields look like someone wanted to make a Warhammer Fantasy race out of them but couldn't, so they decided to do it in 40k instead.
Maybe it has to do with terminators being gigantic themselves, while the necrons look scrawny.

But storm shields are fucking tiny
Necrons don't need shields, they get hit, they get back up again.
It's the hard knock life.
I don't know why do people wear armour in general?!?!?!
We are talking about Necrons here
Their entire body is an armour
Everything at level 20, all DLC and achievements.
Marine:

Space Marine isn't versatile, he's the Yun and Yang of TLS. All his his weapons are auto weapons, and all of his powers are one shots except for healing. He's the overpowered beginner class of every style of game like this. He can do ranged and CC, and he has the third best buddy in the game to come with him. Everything about him is super straightforward, and he has THREE pieces of crap wargear, which is something no one else can say.
[rank 1, beginner: Easy Mode incarnate, few weaknesses, boring playstyle consisting of click on things, make them dead.
Ork:
The mek is def a mixed mag, and it's pretty telling that one of his strongest builds is the one you get at startup. Most of his wargear is crap. You can tell yourself otherwise, and spend lots of time trying to make it work, but the simple fact is, most of it sucks. hard. Luckily, there is one build that is literally the number two build in the game behind claw rine, and completely broken, which does 50 damage to everything and ablates armor to boot. He also has two of best buffs in the game, a global combat master, or a global health boost of 100. Combine the health boost with a Dakka 'Rant, and watch your enemies literally melt before your eyes.

[Rank 5, Expert: Few good weapon choices leaves the mek in "pre-fab" builds that are all the same with little variety if you expect to win, Telemek is fucking broken, however; click to win]

Farseer
Pretty much the bastard stepchild of TLS, the FS is a support character which never got a direct solo capable build until the DLC was released. She's designed to be a combat modifier character, which received so much BAAAAW from the RDOW2C that relic finally gave them what they wanted; the ability build a combat direct FS, and this is because community are fucking idiots for the most part. Secretly, the FS already had the highest DPS rate in the game. Yeah go reread that. The highest and fastest. The problem is you have to dedicate your ENTIRE build except one slot to doing it, making her a literal one trick pony. Now with the buff gear, you can build a solo enemy-turbo death tank that will kill the fuck out your party on 16 while you desperately try to think of a way to get her off you without teleporting. In her support role she shines, being able to get anywhere on the battlefield, turn OP enemies onto each other and allowing bros to use their bropowers more often, and giving armor and evasion buffs. She can also kite better than anyone, even the porty mek or warping sorc. Also, picking teleport is great for luls on 16 as she teleport the entire clone player army into your gate and they face rape you before your gate barrier even starts to go down. Fun times.
[rank 6, must have brain, strength and weaknesses are self evident]

Sorcerer
How the mighty have fallen. Due to a bug that gave the sorc his melee stack buff on ranged attacks AND melee, the Chaos Rising Sorc was king of the fucking hill, able to literally solo THREE gates at a time and NEVER run out of energy and get health back for every attack. You could literally have both your buddy players drop and still win the game by yourself, standing in the center of the map until wave 11, when you were finally forced to maybe run around a little bit to avoid death from above, unless you had double buffed Let the Galaxy Burn, in which case you could just park your self in a gate and win until wave 20, when ranged resistant enemies finally appeared. How the mighty have fallen. In retribution the sorc drops from one to three, and now you must actually click on buttons and move around to do stuff while your juju regenerates. He's still super powered however, and giving yourself a strong clone virtually guarantees victory if you're a good player. He does have some crappy wargear, however, and both Auras and the hellblade are still broken, and more likely to get you killed than win. Unlike most chars, there's no real way to build a generalist sorcerer, you have to pick a theme (range, melee, clone) and then buff it out, if you hope to win.
[Rank 3, Moderate skill level, must have dedicated build]

Lord General
The new and uncontested king of DPS (until the Tau commander is released), the LG shines in making things dead. Like the mek, however, about half of his wargear is ass, and he only has three good weapons, luckily one of which you start with. (two now that achievement DLC can be bought). While squishier even than the FS, he comes with a moostoche that allows him to wield godlike spanking unto the enemy. One you get rocket run, the LG can literally hold two gates with impunity, zapping one gate with bullets and angry mexicans (you look at the catachan picture and tell me that shit is not on purpose) or retard strength mongoloids to tie up and harass, while you rain down TEAM AMERIKKKA FUCK YEAH on the other. While the achievement wargear gives melee options, ranged spanking is where he owns the battlefield. You just have to be patient in earning it.
[Rank 4, Moderate skill level, must be able to control mustache with manliness]
Hive Tyrant
And now we come to our Ryu character. The Rant is versatile. While not a master of anything, the Rant can do a little bit of everything, and do it well. Like the mek, he has useless wargear out the yaya, esp his armors, but what does work works absolutely brilliantly. He can do ranged, he can do melee, he can summon hordes to tie up or go solo and smash the fuck out of things until 16 when your overpowered clone kills you in two hits. A jack of all trades, the HT can mix and match like the Marine and get away with it, and building a balance build can yield even better results than a dedicated depending on your teamates. While he lacks the single hit punch all the other characters have, he whittles down ANY enemy in the game, and does good damage against all types of adversaries with impunity. He can melee, he can shoot, he can tank, he can kite, he can do it all, except teleport.
[Rank 2, Advanced: must select a build designed to complement, but that's pretty easy to do with his excellent if sparse gear]

Yeah but they're powerful and easily maneuvered. Do you see those Necron shields? How much use can they actually be. They are the size of a grown man, wielded by a bulimic metal zombie.

A metal zombie with the strength of a space marine.
A metal zombie with the strength of a space marine.
I'd love to see a Space Marine get in a fistfight with a Necron.
I'd love to see a Space Marine get in a fistfight with a Necron.
I think the Space Marine would win, to be honest.
I'm not taking sides, but i think that the Space Marine would have more physical power/force using his fists rather than a Necron.
A metal zombie with the strength of a space marine.
And no doubt loads of green glowy shielding. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be absolute bastards to kill.
I might have to revise my standard tactic of swarming the shit out of warriors with Slugga Boyz. On the other hand, if you get the formation right you can hit units with 120 melee hits on the charge. Tends to at least kill one or two things, even if they're only at S3.

There are a bunch more cool pictures on there. There's some things that look like a cross between Pariahs and some kind of Tomb King unit.

Yeah, he'd probably just snap one of its arms off like a twig.
Those images were posted around 16-20 pages ago, sorry bro.
The new flayed ones look like poop
well spacemarines are essentially the penultimate answer to anything in wh40k not counting necrons.
While some eldar can beat them in certain disciplines (reaction speed) they come nowhere close in versatility in all of them.
necrons are mostly just durable.
