Yeah, he'd probably just snap one of its arms off like a twig.
I'm not doubting the damage a Necron could do with a gauss flayer, heck, they can slap your shit with those axes at the end of their flayers, but the Space Marine has a bunch of implants and such, and would probably be able to punch a Necron off of his feet.
well spacemarines are essentially the penultimate answer to anything in wh40k not counting necrons.
While some eldar can beat them in certain disciplines (reaction speed) they come nowhere close in versatility in all of them.
necrons are mostly just durable.
Necrons, tabletop wise, are just slower Space Marines with higher leadership and who can get back up again. Fluff wise I believe they are damn powerful as well, and their weapons are far superior to bolters
Yeah, he'd probably just snap one of its arms off like a twig.
Snap off living metal? Heh.
No doubt an average SM would win in melee against an average Necron, but Necrons are strong AND come in masses. Plus, their most basic ranged weapon can beat practically any armor.
For you guys that are saying necrons don't need shields becuse if they get hit they get up, with the shield they don't get knocked down in the first place and it buys them extra time under fire (also firing back or closing into melee range) before they start to get damaged themselves.
In a fist fight, I reckon a space marine would beat down warriors and immortals, but I think it'd likely have a problem with fighting a lord or a flayed one. Mainly because flayed ones fists are made of scissors.
In a gun fight though, Necrons would zap shit up.

But we're talking about hand to hand combat.
No ranged weapons, only a Necron and a Space Marine fighting eachother with their fists.
Matt Ward should make a new Necron unit that actually has a jaw, and teeth and have it's primary function be to simulate a zombie, that happens to be made of (un)living metal.

Mainly because a Necron Lord is one of the more powerful Necrons there are, and because a Necron Lord often carries some type of melee weapon, such as a polearm or such.
I don't think a chainsword could beat a Necron Lord with a polearm, but maybe a thunder hammer could..
Flayed ones would also probably scare someone shitless so the enemy probably run away rather than fight them.

Necron would eviscerate the marine with its Gauss Flayer (in close combat)(technically, while they do have hands and such, their gauss weapons are pretty much fused to their hands. Being able to punch something off its feet is all well and good, until you end up being at the disadvantage of lesser reach.

It's TF2 all over again (in Space Marine).

How about Wraiths? Can't grab 'em, and they just slice everything up.
I really like the art where they have infinite "tails".

Unfunny.
Wraith will definitely fuck up a Space Marine in close combat, i mean seriously, we all witnessed that if we saw the intro cinematic of Dark Crusade.

wow i bought the last flayed ones available, atleast i hope i did, it says no longer available, and "order being processed" so i presume they've packed my order and ive just got to wait until tomorrow otherwise theyd better fucking refund me
I can see how it might be a few months from now, old Necron models will probably be as rare as pre-heresy Thousand Sons models.
Necrons weren't exactly the most popular army with the 3rd ed codex and all, unless the stores just throw away all the old boxes you should be able to find plenty. Plus online retailers.

I'm sure a thunder hammer would pulverize any necron.
And then he'd get back up again. Or do Thunder hammers destroy living metal?
I'm sure a thunder hammer would pulverize any necron.
Well, we all know Necrons are extremely durable, but this brings up the question?
Would a Necron Warrior or Necron Lord be able to handle a heavy blow from a thunder hammer to the chest?
Warrior? No. Lord? Most likely.
Warrior? No. Lord? Most likely.
Why would a Necron Lord fall more easily than a Necron Warrior?
Why would a Necron Lord fall more easily than a Necron Warrior?
You asked if a Necron would be able to take a Thunder Hammer to the chest, he said Warrior would not be able to, but a Lord probably would.
oh god i hope i havent lost eight quid

listen to this while gluing your finecast models. it helps.

Oh, yeah.
Sorry, that was dumb of me.

Thunderhammer wouldn't destroy a necron, damage it yes, make it phase out, maybe, but not destroy.
Hell an Exterminatus isn't guaranteed to take out Necron Tomb facilities (and thusly necrons that phase out to be repaired in there.
Horrible ranged based lag incoming:

His wargear doesn't look very decent, except for this:
* Heavy Gun Drone Controller
Summons a heavy gun drone to the field. Gun drones have twinlinked burst cannons and automatically fire on the enemy.
and this:
Markerlight
The markerlight grants two abilities. The first is ‘mark target’ which for a small energy cost will mark an enemy squad. Marked targets take additional ranged damage. The second ability is ‘sky ray barrage,” which will target any and all enemies marked by a markerlight and fire a seeker missile at them.
Holy shit. The achievement wargear makes it so you have two fucking weapons.

well they haven't given RoF or DPS, but we can see him two shot a Carnifex so.... I'm pretty sure he'll do Sorc/LG style ranged damage.

Even if it does, don't the Necrons simply teleport to the next tomb world in range? I guess that kinda makes them worse than Tyranids, simply for the fact it makes them nigh invulnerable.
