I was under the impression Bolter shots were shell-less, may be confusing that with something else though I really want a Dawn of War game where I can actually have a proper Chaos army, as in marks for every unit and more varied demon options. So I should be able to have an army of CSM with marks of Nurgle, some actual Plague Marines, Plague Bearers and other Nurguly goodness, or mix it up with different Gods or have no affiliation with any God at all.
http://www.moddb.com/mods/dawn-of-warhammer-40k-firestorm-over-kronus Try this, it's an amazing mod. In fact, no one should still be playing vanilla DoW (1) with this around.
It's [a] Waaagh! not [a] Waagh! God damn it people
Wrong. It's WAAAGH!
Tau is just the Imperium of man with more subtle racism, totalitarian government, and oppression with happy face slapped ontop of it. The "Greater good" is nothing more than trying to convice everyone in the galaxy for their cause and then silently kill other races off once they are part of their empire.
What oppression? Tau and their allies seem to be treated pretty good compared to some of the Imperium. And what races have they killed off in their Empire? Only thing they have tried to change is the Kroot Eating bodies, but they haven't done is forcefully or anything.
Man I pulled out my fire warrior disk and started play it today. Massive amount of lulz ensued at how easy it was to kill everything. What bugs me though is that they got how the bolter fired perfect, yet they fucked up the lasguns so badly :v:

Question: what, if any, are the major differences between the Purgation of Kauruva and the Firestorm over Karuva mods? I've been reading the features and descriptions of both and they seem more or less identical.
For some reason, when I try to unpack the file into the main Dark Crusade folder, it starts showing fucktons of errors about some folders not being there or some other shit.
It's firestorm over Karuvara now. Which is to say, it's for soulstorm. EDIT: Nope, nevermind, looks like I'm wrong. I guess it does work for Dark Crusade too.

Well I downloaded the Firestorm over Karuvara and it worked fine after I put it in the dark crusade folder. The only problem is that I'm missing the textures for one of the black templar HQ unit's power sword and that huge ass eldar tank. Otherwise the mod is extremely fun and I totally recommend it.
Oh really? Well derp. I guess it works for both. Sorry guys :downs:

I only have a few complaints about FoK: 1: There is an unnecessary amount of the same units. An example of this is the 12 different types of leman russ or crisis suits, with really minor differences that only serve to confuse. They did really well with things like the dreadnoughts: A single unit with tons of weapon options. But then they have to go and make every crisis suit with a pinwheel or lamp shade on its head a totally different unit. 2: Necrons are boring. They require req and resurrection orb is horrible now. 3: Tau rail guns are absolutely ridiculous. They have insane range and kill infantry and vehicles alike. If they have any sort of spotter, you are fucked.
Because the dreadnoughts only have weapon options. The specialist crisis suits have a markerlight unit, backpack-mounted missile launcher, or are uparmored.
Can someone post the Orkz's reason for retreating? I forgot :v:
Can someone post the Orkz's reason for retreating? I forgot :v:
So they don't die and can go get more boyz.
Different Patterns of Lasgun, not sure if that version is in TT though.
Well not in the design, more so in how they fired and sound. This isn't Star Wars ya know!
Well not in the design, more so in how they fired and sound. This isn't Star Wars ya know!
Yeah, different Patterns of Lasguns. Different firing modes.
It's still Firestorm over Kronus but they changed it to Kaurava because they are working on a Soulstorm version. Also, i like the variety in unit options.
I agree that the number of Crisis suits is irritating, but aside from that I felt everything had its place. Stupid Killa Kans.
Yeah, different Patterns of Lasguns. Different firing modes.
Lol, I'm sorry I guess I am a failure when it comes to getting my point. Lasguns are supposed to fire a single laser beam, similar to a laser pointer. The sound the make is not a generic zap like in other sci-fi but rather a sharp crack. From the various descriptions and books I've read that's what seems to be the fluff, of course I might be wrong so feel free to correct me.

Triplex is from the 3e metals and the Ryza is from the 1/2e plastics IIRC

Dark Angels, Represent!
I really want to get a Leman Russ Executioner but the only way is to order one off Forgeworld. Now, my question is, can the Chaos Dreadnought's Plasma Cannon be converted into an Executioner's main weapon?
