So... anyone has any good builds for Lord General in last stand?
Flamer, Guardsman Squad, Sergeant, Crimson Medallion or that defence medallion or a Commissar, Tarantula Turret armor. There you have it, a setup that can easily rack up around 300 kills per game, but the setup often only works well while you're playing on the Anvil of Khorne. Sniper Rifle, Catachans/Ogryns, Sergeant, Commissar/Crimson Medallion, Vanquisher/Executioner Turret armor. For the latter build, Ogryns are better, in my opinion, and you should skip the medallion and have a commissar, then use a Vanquisher, the Executioner is decent but it's only good against squishy units like guardsmen, the vanquisher's just so much better at single targets/higher waves. [editline]24th October 2011[/editline] Just about finished my Land Raider paint-wise, do you guys want me to post pictures of it, even if it might not be that good?
Why is there an argument on basing? It universally improves the overall look of the model. Even 'Eavy Metal, the professional painting team hired by GW, say the most important parts of a model are "the bases and the faces"
But what if you arrive to play on a table and it has icy terrain when you've based your models for grass and such?
It doesn't make a difference what base you do, how many places have matte black plastic game boards. All you have to do is find a terrain you like and deal with it. I'm doing an Arctic scheme, and I'm probably the only one, it makes no difference to me.
Thinking about getting the basic paint set and a Space marine commander for a starter, y/n?
Thinking about getting the basic paint set and a Space marine commander for a starter, y/n?
Rather get a box of tactical marines The commander costs a lot for a single model, when you can get ten times more for twice the price. The commander is also complex to paint, thus making it a poor model to start with. It'd be a shame to ruin a nice model with the horrific beginner paintjobs everyone has.
After many years of putting it off, i have began repainting my Tau. Also going to get a couple of broadsides. Hammerhead or Skyray?

I should put my first model (Just a normal marine) on a stake and burn it. :v: Second marine I did wasn't that bad though.
Yeah...
Better idea: Just prime it black and try painting it again, i remember the last 40k model picture you posted, and that was a decent model.
He'd need a way to get rid of the paint first, or it'll end up looking like an amorphous blob of colour. Getting rid of paint on resin is pretty hard without damaging the model, compared to metal models. There's articles on dakkadakka that deal with this however.

It's that bad. I removed tried to remove the paint my first models a while ago. Removed it from the grots fine, since they're pure metal. (And repainted them and posted them here) Marines didn't go so well, they were old marines (Metal body, plastic limbs), the paint came off from the bodies fine but the arms look horrible.
The Power Axe is good for when you're low level, but use the Lightning Claw as soon as you can, the Lightning Claw has much better damage output. If you haven't unlocked the Lightning Claw, use the Plasma Gun, two of the best weapons right there. [editline]24th October 2011[/editline] Sure.
Nay. It's never a good item. Ever. It's slow, and the 200% clone boost makes it a complete pile of shit to deal with on 16 and 20, particularly because it causes slow on hit. Much like the devourer cannon or the eldar melee spear or warpfire staff, one advantage fails to mitigate the plethora of disadvantages it brings, particularly to your teammates. It's an asshole weapon, used by assholes.
time
You're continuing to dig the hole the other way which is odd, considering your stance. You continue to highlight all the reasons base frippery is redundant. Unless you're attempting something for Golden Demon, you are quite literally wasting your time; much akin to buying a chrome oil pan for your '57 chevy. Pointless.
[LG]
Sniper rifle Black or Cadian Armor Sarge Commissar Rocket Run Stormtroopers This build pretty much has the highest non-single unit dps output in the game save for the Shas'O, and you can punch it even higher by replacing the sarge and comm with the medallions; however that leaves the tanking potential of your storm troopers very low. If you're going straight melee with inspiring sword and black armor, ogryns sound great on paper, problems being the leash on them is way too huge, and they're usually not where you need them, or even better, off fucking around in the same gate as the claw marine/telestab Ork/CC 'Rant is and getting in his way to boot, which only helps exacerbate the games horrible melee pathing, particularly on large chars like the 'Rant. Ogryns are fine if you're rocking straight melee or a Genx3 game, otherwise they can be a liability as much as a boon.

Anyway, i know nearly none of you play Grey Knights, apart from Mesothere, but i'd appreciate if somebody could tell me what i should get/if this is an okay starter list for Grey Knights. 10 Grey Knight Purifiers 3 Psycannons, one psycannon on one squad and two on the other. 1 Daemon Hammer on each squad 300 pts 5 Grey Knight Paladins Psycannon Master-crafted Daemon Hammer 300 pts Castellan Garran Crowe 150 pts Land Raider 250 pts Total: 1000 pts Am i lacking anything, or is this a bad list? Should i skip the Purifiers and get psyflemen dreadnoughts instead?
Last stand worst nightmare, use cover and ground for your range hero....teammate Tyranid smashes through and your cover is gone
You know nothing of my rage. Hunkered in cover as the Lord General, my shotgun is picking off a few of the Warriors approaching. Suddenly, my Tau ally spawns a shield drone. Fantastic, ranged protection! Oh god no it's moving! Oh god oh no of shit FUCK. It moves through and destroys my cover. Then it sods off to the corner of the map with nobody in it.

[editline]24th October 2011[/editline] Unless you took two five-man purifier squads, then sorry about that. Not familiar with the GK codex.

I know most armies have something like that, taking a Haemonculus for Dark Eldar makes Wracks a troop choice.
Oh that's probably Crowe then nevermind
I think there's some HQ unit that makes them troops? I know most armies have something like that, taking a Haemonculus for Dark Eldar makes Wracks a troop choice.
Draigo. Friggin' Draigo. For Paladins, I mean.

Scratch that, the purifier squads were a total of 300 points, sorry.
But what if you arrive to play on a table and it has icy terrain when you've based your models for grass and such?
It won't matter, a good base enhances the model tenfold, be it grass, ice or any other terrain.
Last stand worst nightmare, use cover and ground for your range hero....teammate Tyranid smashes through and your cover is gone
For some reason Tau drones smash through everything despite clearly hovering over stuff it still smashes.
