Space Marines still use cover.
Of course they do, and they do dive to the ground on TT too. But it's still an amusing image. This seven foot tall power-armor clad bulletproof giant jumps into mud and makes a massive splash
A Space Marine ducking into the mud seems kinda comical
They could just act as constant green cover :v:
It needed to be like CoH with a good cover system, territory, bullets unable to damage tanks, supression etc (in DoW it's "oh we're being shot lets move slower" instead of CoH where they actually get on the ground and cover their heads etc) and all the other stuff CoH has but DoW2 doesn't.
The thing though, it's a different setting. In coh, guns really don't stand much chance of killing a tank, but in the warhammer universe enough bloody lasguns can kill a titan :P
They could just act as constant green cover :v:
Or just have a higher standard base armour class as opposed to having to do changes to the system (cover makes you move slower remember)
Got Space marine today, Exterminatus mode is great fun.
Downloading Space Marine :o 10 minutes left. :3
enough bloody lasguns can kill a titan
And then the mental image blew my mind.

Bernn Is awesome at level 10.

Wouldn't zombies be utterly useless against Space Marines?
I mean, unless they have the same strength as they have or if they're plaguebearers, i don't think they're likely to damage the Space Marine at all.

Well the Dark Angels on Caliban have been [sp]exiled because Jonsons a dick[/sp] and there's loads of them.
I just learned that the Black Templars are the most numerous of any of the Space Marine chapters, combined with the fact they're in the top [del]two/three[/del] ten (misread) in regards to geneseed purity.
Does anyone know their exact numbers, because everything I've read thusfar seems to point to 'iunno'.
Ok, one of my two matches is tommorow. Anyone got any tips I could use? Ive played a few warm up games with my mates but I haven't tried rules such as pinning, rending, etc.

Pinning & Rending are easy enough. How many points is this game? Putting too many upgrades to your HQ in low-point games isn't a very good idea.
Any idea what kind of enemies you'll be facing? You should also use less dedicated AT since your lascannons can be pie plated to hell. I'd replace that plasma gun on the tac squad with a melta, and pop the squad in a rhino. With the five points you saved with the melta you could also throw the Vanguards into a razorback, to give them more mobility after deployment.

I like that idea a lot, So the new list is:
Captain
Artificer armour
Thunder Hammer
[145]
Tactical Squad
10 models
Power Fist
Heavy Bolter
Melta
[215]
Scout Squad
5 men with Sniper Rifles

Ive only got 800 points by the way.
Brb, Im off to take a photo of the new army
I am still welcome to suggestions though.
I personally think the powerfist on the tac squad sarge is a bit of a waste, you don't really get to sacrifice your scoring units with 800pts in melee, and marines aren't that great in CC. If you have an extra BP/CS sarge replace him, and you gain extra 25 whopping points to use. If you can squeeze 5 points out of somewhere you can field a rhino for the tac squad. Since you've got a Razorback now you could ditch the heavy bolter on the tac squad for a missile launcher.
Also, you gonna combat squad the tacs?
It needed to be like CoH with a good cover system, territory, bullets unable to damage tanks, supression etc (in DoW it's "oh we're being shot lets move slower" instead of CoH where they actually get on the ground and cover their heads etc) and all the other stuff CoH has but DoW2 doesn't.
To tell you the truth, Panzer Grenadiers with G43s and tripple offensive veterancy can destroy an M8.

Sssshhh! You're making my poor advice based on half-remembered knowledge of the SM codex seem, well, poor.
Zezi speaks the truth, though. If you can afford them, more Rhinos and Razorbacks are the way to go.

5th Ed is not called transporthammer for nothing
I took a look at the Codex again and realized that taking a Chaplain would not only complement my Vanguards, it would save me 45 points. If I removed the power fist I'd get an extra 25, so Ive decided to take a default Predator with a Hunter Killer missile. New list is as follows:
the new list is:
Chaplain
[100]
Tactical Squad
10 models
Heavy Bolter
Melta
[195]
Scout Squad
5 men with Sniper Rifles
[75]
Razorback
Vanguard Veterans
Power Weapon
No jetpacks
Power Fist
[165]
795 points.

Devastator Squad
2 Las Cannons - 70 pts
[160]
Predator
Hunter killer missile - 10 points
[70]
Plan b - If I am fighting mobs of Orks/Tyranids/Imperial Guard
No devastator squad, instead a Thunderfire cannon (100pts), Land Speeder with Heavy Flamer (50pts) and Camo Cloaks for every Scout. (15 pts)
Edit: Leaves me with 15 extra points (for both plans), what should I spend that on? most attractive options seem a Plasma pistol for my Tac sergeant or a power weapon for one of my Vanguards.
5th Ed is not called transporthammer for nothing
Mech is King.
Also, Predator? I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Is the H&K missile actually any good? Never seen anybody use it
[editline]28th October 2011[/editline]
Ditch H&K replace with extra armor IMO

Well, if you've only got a Autocannon on the Pred you're gonna be moving it most turns for the better LoS, but you can't fire both in the same turn. It could be useful, but it is [REDACTED] points.
Also, gamerman. What have I told you about putting wargear costs on your list?
That is if you want to use the pred, which you probably shouldn't. It's not even a dakkapred. If you had five points more to use you could add heavy bolter sponsons and then it would be at least slightly worth it.
My termies are now sporting the tusks I blacksmithed for them and my dreadie is as spiky as ever. I have my first game against other wh40k players this sunday, so I came day earler home from work to paint my warhammer.
Also will be buying raptors, two rihnos an a land raider.
Anyone know what metal the raptors are made of?
[editline]28th October 2011[/editline]
is it pig iron? because if it is I can totally make it a bitchin paintjob
How are you getting 165 from the Vanguards, I only get 155
How are you getting 165 from the Vanguards, I only get 155
That's probably my fault.
Also, my general opinion of plasma pistols is that they're not worth it.

White metal, presumably. This question confuses me.
Oh wait, the fist is on troops. Oh man oh boy. You should get whipped.

Makes sense, in RL greyhounds were barely bulletproof.
Makes sense, in RL greyhounds were barely bulletproof.
I understand light AA guns being able to penetrate it (.50 caliber, etc.). But G43's? Holy shit. By that logic, pintle mounted MG42's were tank killers.

This was the Space Marine Captain I was going to use for my battle tommorow. Paint is missing in some places, I plan to brush it up in an hour or two.

This is my first attempt at painting a Leman Russ, its not finished, but I hope to get it done soon. Can I get any feedback?
